    Isn't waiting for a company to become undervalued the same as timing the market? I have trouble distinguishing the two.

    • @lorisbiancheri1194
      @lorisbiancheri1194 2 роки тому +1

      Timing the market means buying when you think the stock has hit a bottom, and will now start going up. When you wait for a company to be undervalued, you expect the market to potentially remain irrational and therefore you may be showing great unrealized losses in the short term.

    Hi, I'm having hard time understanding Margin of safety. If current share price is $500 for example, do I buy them for $500+($550) or $500- ($250)??

    • @martylaprise5988
      @martylaprise5988 Рік тому

      Depends what the intrinsic value of the stock is. If the instrinsic value is 750 and the current price is 500 and you want a margin of safety of 33.3% then the price you want to buy at is 500. This is the same as the current price in this case so we’d buy

    All these are principles that Warren Buffett has been telling the world since time immemorial, there's nothing new here. All Warren Buffett imitators write books based on his principles as though they are the ones that are bringing these insights to the table. Put a pretty voice to the video and everyone is acting as though there is something new and "noteworthy" here.

    This book is $5500 on Amazon in Canada. But I got it on Kindle and read 50%. I must say, no trolling, this book is trash! An entire chapter on common stock valuation and does not even use a single number or formula. An entire chapter on how your portfolio manager's time is better spent researching than going out for coffee with you. I don't have high expectations for the second half of the book.
