Nice tribute, but a tribute it is. Did they really have to call the band Colosseum? Colosseum was Jon Hiseman’s baby along with, originally, Dave Greenslade, Dick Heckstall Smith, Tony Reeves and James Litherland, none of whom are on this stage.

The greatest version of the Colosseum was the lineup from "Colosseum Live" (1971): Jon Hiseman, Clem Clempson, Chris Farlowe, Dave Greenslade, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Mark Clarke and Chris Farlowe. Three of them are still here, Farlowe, Clarke, and Clempson. And, they are still great as you can see! Chris (at 82) is still a great singer!
      :)

James left the band in the early 70's. Yes , Butty's blues was great number but the band went on to create so much more. Unfortunately Dick HS died and had to be taken over by Barbara Thompson (Jon Hiseman's wife) . Jon has recently died (brain tumour) and his technique and influence can never be denied. However y
our opinions can never be denied , I would like to state that life and loves continue, and the influence of Mark Clarke, Clem Clemson and Chris Farlowe continue to create the enthusiasm that was originally there in the the early times of Colosseum and produce a perfectly acceptable (if not original) reproduction of the excellence that was performed by the original line up

@@pdrkenobi5868 And as much as Colosseum was Jon Hiseman's band - his and Barbara Thompson's daughter Ana Gracey is involved in the making of their albums and gave her blessings to the current incarnation. It is love and family.

Rightly or wrongly, most people would likely say the era of Clemson and Clarke in the early 70's was the best but I agree, despite their presence in this line up, this is a tribute band. The drummer, for example, who I am sure is very competent, only seeks to demonstrate how Jon Hisemen's drumming WAS Colosseum. Clemson and Clarke are still superb but this present line up is like fish and chips without the fish.
