With the Suzuki you were looking at should you have tried putting the other part of the key up to it to see if it would read a chip or anything I’m thinking it definitely has a chip in the key and it’s not going to do anything but turn over, unless it reads the chip on the other side of it unless it was built into the one you were already turning💯

BTW the v6 in that Grand Vitara is actually a GM engine, same one used in the Chevy Captiva and even Alfa Romeo has a version of it used in the 159 and Brera. Not a great engine though
I had a Suzuki XL7, avoid it like the plague, not for the brand itself but for the parts. They can be hard as heck to get as the brand no longer exists in the USA car SUV wise.
