Poppy killed not only for a good podcast, but to frame Cinda so she could finally break free from Cinda. She was only framing the trio because that would look like something Cinda would do. Season 2 was so good, the pacing was great and you wouldn't even realise it was filmed during covid. The finale was personally very dissapointing, it was very rushed and no flashbacks. Another little nitpick during the reveal scene that I don't think anyone has brought up - how did Poppy know that there was a girl (Lucy) in the catacombs. Poppy accidentally said it out loud during the reveal party, and it was what helped everyone realize she was the killer. Except in the flashback, Poppy/hooded person only heard a noise in the tunnels. When she didn't see anyone, she gave up looking for the source of the noise.

The knife was so sharp the man barely felt the pain, and when later he loosened the belt the knife dislodged and the man bled to death. In the after-show One Killer Question, the actress who plays Poppy states she won in a certain way because she got what she wanted. If it was the choice between living this abusive life in Oklahoma and having done these incredible things. She’d pick the recognition she thought she deserved. She then states that her character killed Bunny because she was an easy target and it could make a good story if the 3 of them murdered Bunny. Kind of how the mayor killed Becky made a good story. She states that Poppy is very smart but she is over emotional. In the end her heart sabotaged her mind because Cinda pushed her buttons enabling a panic attack.

I like that for season 3 the victim is a completely new character so we get to learn everything. Overall, I liked season 2 more than season 1, as I found the pacing, character development and twists to be better. However, the plot holes with Poppy being the killer are the weak points for me, such as why would Poppy volunteer her real identity to Mabel as that would implicate her in the mayor's arrest, or stab someone she barely knew 8 times in the hopes of getting a promotion. If Poppy had no issue killing someone, you'd think her target would be Cinda, as she would just simply take over the show with Cinda gone.
As for loose ends, there are quite a few this season as well, and I'm hoping that maybe the show-runners would create some short stories to address them, and they could also use this to provide more insight into the background of some characters they didn't have enough time in the season to explore. For example an "OMITB: Loose Ends" short to explain 1) the Lucy & Charles photo in Kreps' bag & who was the intended target, 2) who Bunny hired to forge the Rose Cooper, 3) the real reason why Bunny gave Ivan so much money, 4) who the diamond ring Tim bought was for, 5) who poisoned Winnie, and 6) who wrote the note on Jan's door. I would also like to see an "OMITB: Charles Sr, Rose & Leonora Love Triangle", and an "OMITB: A Day in the Life of Howard Morris" would be fun.
Like others have mentioned, the finale does feel rushed. I've always thought the person who sneezed in the passageways sounded like a man, and nothing like Poppy at all. The scene where Poppy tells Kreps she learned about the secret passageways seems to be added in as a voice-over, and I'm wondering if they had actually shot multiple endings with different characters as the killer, and based on how the fans reacted after the first 6 or 7 episodes, decided on who the real killer would be through editing.
Edit: Also wanted to add how much I enjoyed the music and the its arrangement this season. I think not enough has been said about how impactful the music score has been in bringing out the emotion in the various scenes. The ones I particularly liked are: 1) piano solo at the end of ep1 when Charles discovers the painting in his apartment, 2) Billie Eilish's "You should see me in a crown" when Mabel takes apart Alice's sculpture in ep2, 3) what I call Lucy's theme when she recollects her arrival at the elevators in the Arconia in ep4, and 4) what I call Mabel's trauma theme when she starts flipping over the puzzle pieces towards the end of ep7.

The big reveal party, head fake with Charles' death, Howard dramatics, Lester's acting chops, were all so fun. Self deprecating comment by Oliver about this not feeling like a finale yet was very self aware and what we likely were all thinking. I agree on the fog being fatal. As for the "her", what about Charles' new make up artist girlfriend? He was mean (something to her) and she did something to the makeup that only someone in her industry would have access to? Still so many questions for me. 1. How did Bunny get the painting from Rose Cooper? 2. How does Poppy know about the painting and that Bunny has it? 3. Who did the reproduction and why? (ex, did Bunny have it done after Poppy was asking about it and Bunny suspected Poppy might steal it?) 4. Are we to assume it was Poppy who poisoned Winnie, and left the notes for Jan and Oliver in Sea1? 5. Did Poppy somehow know Jan killed Tim Kono? 6. How did Poppy get Bunny into Mabels house? 7. Why would Poppy tell Mabel her true identity? 8. But my bigger issue is now with Poppys complete continuity timeline. I tried to write out what Poppys complete timeline of events would be based on Sea 1 and Sea 2 and I couldnt do it. Ill try to explain, but it probably wont sound right. If you watch the post show "One Killer Question" the Poppy actress implies that Poppy moved to NY after meeting and getting involved with Kreps because "moving to NY with nothing is impossible". So, if that is true, then that means when Poppy goes to meet Cinda the first time to ask for a job and proposes the idea of doing a podcast based on Becky going missing in OK, she has already meet and gotten involved with Kreps and moved in with him in NY. For that to happen, that means Poppy has already met Kreps (most likely from when he went to OK to make more money and work the missing Becky case) and worked with him to do whatever manipulation they did with local OK policy on Becky being missing. Then, going back to the first time Poppy talks to Cinda, Poppy proposes the podcast for someone "missing", not killed. Then Cinda tells Poppy if the case were a murder, then she would be interested. But, Poppy and Kreps have already done their stuff in OK and are now in NY. But now Poppy needs to turn it from a missing case, into a murder case so Cinda will do it. So how does that happen? Do Poppy and Kreps then go back to OK and work on framing the Mayor for the murder, in a case with no body and no weapon? And then there are the scenes where Cinda, Kreps and Poppy are all at the Chicken Chug. We know Cinda is not aware when she does the "OK podcast" that Poppy is Becky and set up the whole Becky case with Kreps' help, right? So when all three are at the Chug, that has to be once it was a murder, evidenced by Cinda being there and now doing the podcast, and not when Poppy first meets Kreps when hes there on the case when its just "missing". I just cant make sense of what Poppy did step by step, and when she did it, and with who. Also forgot. Did the show address the person breaking into Charles house during the blackout episode? Are we to assume it was Poppy? If not, then Kreps? And what was the persons purpose of the break in? Lucy was there, but if the person was after Lucy, how would they know she was even there?

It was in an episode when cinda was mocking Charles for saying "we are all Tim kono" as she listened to the only murders in the building podcast. Cinda would have listened to that podcast when the trio recorded it last year. As cinda was eager for new podcast material poppy made the Rose Cooper suggestion as the story was well known and associated with the arconia and that rose Cooper lived across the street from the arconia and the Folgers. This is an attempt to answer Cat;s questions: 1. A copy exist because Bunny didn't want the original to be stolen. She knew Poppy wanted it. 2. How and why did Poppy know about the painting. I had that question too. Poppy was a good researcher, she was intrigued by Rose Cooper's disappearance and found out about this painting in the process. My guess would be she found out through Ursula. Ursula mentioned to Oliver that there was someone who was questioning her about the trio. 3. Again, I think she found out through Ursula. Ursula makes it a point to know about everything that goes on in the Arconia. 4. Why did Amy S. appear at all? Dunno. Maybe they were thinking of using her more, but they changed their minds? 5. I think Poppy did it, because she wanted the podcast to stop, and she was trying to scare them, or break Oliver's heart, so he would want to stop. Now why did Poppy reveal who she really was? Poppy was good about plotting and planning, but not so good about thinking on her feet. She did not expect Mabel to show up at the studio. She was making a feeble attempt to implicate Cinda, other than herself, because Mabel knew that their previous podcast was connected.

    The Butler Did It....classic!
    I'd love to know/see:
How Poppy found that knife in Oliver's Theatre Museum Apartment, there is quite a lot of stuff in there?
Why was the fake painting put up on the wall in Charles apartment? Unless you were going to bust in and catch him immediately then it would be likely he'd find it and take it back down to hide it as he would also do with the knife.
Why did Ursula throw that box of files away so suspiciously, both in action and in placement?
Did anyone inform the real Lenora (even with her health issues) that her daughter had died?
What inspired Becky to choose the name Poppy White?
I would have liked to see how Bunny and Poppy made it over to Mabel's apartment, it just feels less complete to skip around the details of the murder.
Is season 3 going to be called "... and also Murders on Broadway" ?
Did Marv ever solve the 6th avenue slasher, maybe he should start his own podcast? Why doesn't anyone die on 3rd? I bet that is where the killer lives.
What the heck is that thing on top of Nina's Arconia 2.0 mockup?

If Kreps was in on it, why din't he do anything like raid their places based on an "anonymous" tip and catch them with the incriminating planted evidence? In the after-show One Killer Question, the actress who plays Poppy states she won in a certain way because she got what she wanted. If it was the choice between living this abusive life in Oklahoma and having done these incredible things. She’d pick the recognition she thought she deserved. She then states that her character killed Bunny because she was an easy target and it could make a good story if the 3 of them murdered Bunny. Kind of how the mayor killed Becky made a good story. She states that Poppy is very smart but she is over emotional. In the end her heart sabotaged her mind because Cinda pushed her buttons enabling a panic attack.

A little theory I have before I watch the video: I think the "her" Charles talks about with Ben is Jan. It makes sense for her to be important for Charles as Charles has a complicated relationship with her and it also makes sense given that Mabel, Lucy and Charles' stylist/new girlfriend are all happy and excited (which doesn't match the seriousness of what Ben did based on Charles' delivery of the line).

Plot twist: Marv’s daughter is in the production and that’s why Charles is protection from Ben. Marv isn’t the killer, but that’s the direction the show wants us to lean next season (apart from suspecting Charles, of course) because the poison IS in the fog. Since Marv cleans mold from buildings, we’re led to believe he also employed similar chemicals, aerosolized them, and killed Ben.
It won’t be Ben, of course, it will be Howard’s love interest from S2 who killed Ben because he believed Ben stole the role from him.

I'm in the "disappointed" camp bc unlike season 1, I thought it had potential to be a more complex mystery--even if I had no way of finding out who the killer actually was--I'd be fine with that. They dropped a few "clues" that either were never explained OR only had the most boring (or zero) explanation at the end (the painting, the sneeze, arcatacomb access etc.). I wish they could've just written something a little more "shocking" and make it make sense! Here are some "seemingly clues" that I am frustrated weren't addressed. For example: First and foremost: (1) Why have Mabel say at the end of Season 1 AND in Bunny's Last Day episode mention about Tim Kono's murder that there are "loose ends?" Even if I had no way of guessing, I wish they would have cleverly connected the murders somehow. Personally, I thought there might be room to do so with the whole "artist" mastermind thing AND a theme about people faking deaths that Tim Kono somehow faked his death. It also seemed plausible because of his allergy to cats (I think) and the sneezing clue. Additionally, a motive could be he seemed to be involved in collecting jewelry beyond what he needed for the Emerald ring (or the diamond ring) and could have been using the passageways to traffic goods--be connected to some larger crime ring that either Bunny was in-on or knew about. (2) Another dropped clue was some narration, like Charles during the Bunny episode saying Bunny was a "NY classic-treasure trove of stories, secrets, and forgotten wisdom”
and “Bunny always put the Arconia first - and that didn’t always make her popular, even among the people she cared for.” Again--why that narration when she's about to get murdered, but never talk abotu the secrets she knows or putting the Arconia first and being unpopular? Seemed like a wasted opportunity of some tie-in to either her murder OR some other sub-plot. And (3) As others have mentioned--we're supposed to believe that Alice randomly shows up in Mabel's life, thinks she's "helping" Mabel by betraying her and using her trauma, and then just gives her a "gift" that magically reveals the murderer's connection to the All is Not OK? Just too many coincidences to not have some connection to ANYTHING. Okay, I'll stop there on season 2 and interested to hear other's thoughts...But just want to say that for Season 3, I'm just lowering my expectations about it being a clever murder mystery. As for Season 3's killer--I think it's Joy (makeup lady love interest) because in the finale she brushed Charles' face and he started acting how he did after Jan poisoned him (so maybe Joy gave him a little poison) and she has a motive as EITHER the "she" Charles is referring to OR if the "she" is Lucy--to protect Charles' interests Joy acts as a psycho girlfriend who does too much (Charles has bad luck with lady loves). Thanks for reading and if you didn't read--for the space to vent!

For my final theory I had Poppy beeing the killer and even thought that Cinda didn’t know that Poppy was Becky, making her the mastermind and the brilliant woman Kreps kept talking about. However, just like last season, my correct prediction only came after watching the second to last episode.
I believe Poppy told Mabel who she really is to make it seem as if Cinda “kidnapped” her and fabricated the whole story while keeping her “hostage” and working for her, showing Mabel to what lengths Cinda would go to to have a story to tell. What do you think?
As for the question as to how she knew about the passage ways? No Idea. Did she find them while researching for the podcast during the first murder? Did Kreps get her plans to the building so that she could plan her murder as well as possible and discovered them that way?
Also, what sense does it make to plant evidence in the trios’ apartments if you don’t have your boyfriend bust in there with police to find it and frame the Trio even more?? Plus, by texting the people you are trying to frame to get out of the building, you’re giving them an alibi!! “Brilliant woman” my a** Kreps.

It is more of a spoof of a murder mystery, then an real murder mystery.

Who killed Ben Glenroy? My radical theory?
    Nobody.
He isn't dead, there's been no murder, this is all part of the act.
Having the theater audience think an actor's just been murdered onstage is just the sort of tacky, over-the-top hoopla that Oliver Putnam would come up with.
But why do I think this? Mainly because of the show's title and what it means. Only Murders *in the Building*. Our heroes' podcasts only cover murders within the Arconia. This does not appear to be within the Arconia. If it isn't, then this won't be the murder being investigated next season.
Of course, it could turn out that the theater is within the Arconia. I've read that some of these big, fancy apartment buildings the Arconia is based on did have theaters within them, in which case my theory is wrong.
So either this theater is within the Arconia, or this won't be the murder being investigated next season, and if the latter's the case, then the most likely reason is because this murder is part of the show.

I thought season 2 was fantastic! I really enjoyed the finale and laughed out loud a lot.
I absolutely loved how the reveal went this season. Leading us to believe it’s Cinda at the end of episode 9 into 10, then Mable calling Alice out and her STABBING Charles! That made me gasp that was a genius move to add in. Then ultimately Poppy being exposed. I feel satisfied with this finale and the answers we got. I still wish we know who poisoned Winnie (maybe it was Jan and she lied.. but I don’t see her lying about that when she planned on killing Charles anyways)
I truly think the writers saw people’s reaction to Amy Schumer being cast and decided to cut her role back…lol.
I do wish we got flashbacks to seeing poppy killing Bunny and in Mable’s apartment but I’m not dying over it. (no pun intended)

I thought the finale episode for season two was very entertaining. One question I have is was Kreps sleeping with Cinda and then left her for Poppy? Or just sleeping with them at the same time? We see that Kreps is looking back and then the camera moves to Cinda, who appears to be looking back at him. Then we see that Poppy is looking at Kreps making us believe he is really looking at Poppy. When the trio were revealing who the killer was, they said that Cinda and Kreps had sexual tension and Cinda didn't deny it.

Glitter guy was obviously Detective Kreps since he's tall and also cause he had glitter on his neck and poppy/Becky is not as tall, so didn't Kreps actually do the killing? We know they were both in on it, so why didn't they invite Kreps to the killer reveal party and expose them both?

Benny could said Poppy. Also why would Becky reveal her true identity. And how did she know about the secret passages. What was the the plan ? To kill Benny and make podcast about her death and missing painting. This plot is far fetched. Its workable but the way it was set up definitely quite unconvincing. If they had to make this the core plot their sub plots had to be better. Those sub plots had to lead viewer into the mystery and not away from it.

Well Season 2 is ending. I have just one episode left but certainly this was a season which bit more than it can chew. Now the core plot, the one that leads to the murder is good. That's a good center but unlike Season 1 the sub plots are loose. They are just diversions which lead away from the mystery.
As I had mentioned the angle of rival podcast was good and in the end the makers saw the wisdom and made it the raison d'être of the Season 2. But the sub plots were definitely weak. The back and front story of Charles, his step daughter Lucy, Clara track with Selena, the painting and new board President track were either too unconvincing or underutilized, pulling the story in many different directions. They painting angle and board presidency were certainly not utilized well.
In Season 1 the plot was grounded. It focused well on James Kono and Arcania and the incident that happened 10 years ago. Here the audience is deliberately taken on many detours. Well the last episode is here but I have to say that it does feel as convincing as a mystery should. In a murder mystery you have to convince the audience. While Season 1 did so as an older Jan did not want Tim Kono to leave her for a younger man here the motivation does not seem strong enough from what I seen so far. My favorites were episode 3 and 7. Theo and the actor playing his dad were scene stealers clearly giving the lead trio a run for their money. Among the trio the Mabel aka Selena Gomez got the centerpiece. Not only does the story focus on her, she has probably solved the mystery. And for the first time I liked her in the green sleeveless dress. I rarely liked her costume choices in the series but she looked good in it. And her backstory and her interest in puzzles was in tune with the theme of the series.
Lets see if the final episode is redemption and how does it tie all the loose ends. My rating overall is 6.5. Good ideas but not cleverly used.

Maybe Poppy talled Maybel that she was Becky to frame Cinda , so the trio would think that it was Cinda's idea to fake Becky's death and get the success. She clearly tried to frame the trio. I had a feeling kreps was involved to get "his big break".. but didn't really suspect poppy. I thought cinda had her doing things or something. . . I thought the show ended great. It gave us answers but still gave a peak into next season..
