  • Astana, the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan is ten years old this year. The city's designation as capital initiated one of the most ambitious urban development projects of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. This film -- THIS IS ASTANA - shows captures the unique atmosphere of a capital that rivals all the dynamism of longer-established cities like New York.

if I visited Astana how much authentic Kazakh culture would I be able to experience? Are there restaurants or cafes where traditional music is played or is it all modern influence?

I really liked this video, and the whole idea about it but there is one thing that concerns me.... now I have never been in Kazakhstan, yet I do believe that much like most post-communistic countries the rest of the state is not the same and as a matter of fact is just as bad as other similar countries. If I'm wrong, please do inform me, I would like to know the truth.

Even we have adopted Strategic Development Program untill 2030, this is first part of development program where Kazakhstan setting up 7 priorities of development like security, political stability, social, transport & infrastructure, tourism & sport, energy and healthcare.

Communistic idea in my country, in Kazakhstan is dead since 1986, when kazakhs boomed against communistic system and houndreds were troubled by Soviet Army, Police, KGB etc. Now Kazakhstan is rapidly developing, since 2002 Kazakhstan recognied as 'market economy'. Time is changing, old kazakh proverb says: '50 years and the country is new'
