I don’t get it. “Lazard is taking his position” but at the same time “will be inactive on game days”. CD will play if signed so he’d be the one taking lazards position not the other way around
Davis felt he was a better player than Lazard but the jets brought in a bunch of wide receivers who were DNPs just to appease Rodgers.
Have a QB who hasn't played in 2 years throw passes to a receiver who hasn't played in 2 years?? This is why the Jets are the Jets and I've been a fan since the 60's. Also, it's not like he didn't have his share of drops when he was here.

@@ian1753 His last game was in Green Bay, Jan 9, 2023. So by the time he takes a snap (hopefully more than 4) he'll not have played for 1 year and 9 months. I stand corrected by 3 months.

CD was the clutch catch man, the 3rd down man, more hands than Allen L. Forreal.... guys that move the chains get respected at the Jets

This has always been my main concern with "making Rodgers happy", like if we are really not letting go of a guy who was absolute dog shit vs Corey who could actually contribute all because its what Rodgers wants...thats a massive mistake and that way of thinking will not work in the end, know how i know...go ask Green Bay.

Surprised Hughes already thinks Lazard is gonna be inactive on game days. Figure he has a chance to rebuild stock with Rodgers in camp. If it doesn’t go well there’s no harm in keeping him unless he becomes a locker room distraction

I’m okay with giving Lazard another season with (hopefully) Rodgers at QB to reignite some magic maybe. In an ideal world, I’d hope he plays well the first half of the year and then we can trade him at the deadline for a needed piece because I just don’t trust him.

I love cd, but I can’t back him that much. Lazards best day is about the same as Corey Davis. Hopefully that’s what we get. The thing that kills cd, is he’s injury prone.
Wow one bad year and the guy sucks all of a sudden. Keep in mind he is sort of playing for a contract knowing he will be cut. There is incentive here.
What is the point of keeping a player who will be inactive and is taking up a roster spot. Who cares how much money he is being paid if he doesn't play.

I’m very much closed on this chapter. We don’t really need Davis and it’s pretty clear he doesn’t want to come back here, I also don’t want him to have to catch up on a year + of offensive schemes that he’s missed out on learning.

Everyone knew Lazard signed a 2 yr 22 mil contract. He was always gone after this year. If CD left bcs they signed Lazard then that should tell you all you need to know about CD.

Davis retired because his brother died amd he needed time to morn. There wasn't an out of the blue moment. The Jets org knew he was having troublenwithbit and he was open about taking time away.
The patriots gotta go after him. Give him a one year $7 million deal within incentives.

Really? I thought the game plan here was to draft and trade for ballers with a love for football. We are already dealing with one head case why add another? Concentrate on what you have. Chemistry is what we have always missed.

yeah .. I'm probably in the minority that doesn't want anything to do with Corey Davis ... dude quit on us 6 days before cutdown ( now granted I thought we should've brought someone in ... I had a list of guys myself lol ) ... I honestly thought he'd be a Steeler by now , his best years were with Tennessee and Arthur Smith who's now the OC in Pittsburgh.... as for Lazard I'm really hoping they find a trade partner somepoint during camp but if not I'm with you ... eat the dead cap all at once and move on .... roster spots are too damned valuable!!! would rather develop a young prospect or bring in someone else than carry a healthy scratch EVERY week on game days

Lazard has been terrible, but I don't see Corey Davis as a valid solution, even if Lazard wasn't on the roster. He wasn't great to begin with and I trust even less having been away from football for a year.

We have plenty of WR depth. Let Lazard be inactive to get Gibson and Corley on the field together a bit. We have to let Davis walk unless Brownlee and Charles are unable to compete for major reps. Maybe we can convince some GM that Lazard just didn't have the correct contact lenses in last season

Wilson is the single real deal legitimate WR on the team.
Williams is old, coming off catastrophic injury, and won't even be ready to run until after camp is over.
Lazard is garbage and beyond worthless.

Lazard “Quit” on numerous plays last year, the films don’t lie. Cut his ass, eat the money. CD never quit on a play he just screwed the team last year at the last moment. Move on from both!
