"Revolutionary top-fill design"; I don't see how it's revolutionary when there were plenty of vacuums that used top-fill designs for their bags. Plus I noticed they cut out the claim that the Oreck XL maintains full cleaning power, all the time. They probably got called out by Fantom or somebody else for that one. The bowling ball trick is iconic, but any vacuum with strong hose suction can do that. Even a Shop Vac can.
He's saying that the design itself is revolutionary. Keep in mind that many people at the time were probably still using bottom fill Hoover Convertible vacuums. Oreck was a good salesman and had the mentality that a product that is marketed well does not have to be the best at performance.
@pinomarino8917 Yeah. I'm not trying to disrespect David Oreck, but I feel that his vacuums were overhyped. I most certainly would not call them "better than all other vacuums", but I think they're good in their own little way, with that being for quick clean ups. They're nice vacuums to take out, run, and put away when you don't feel like lugging out your main machine, like before you have guests over. I just wish that they were marketed and priced as such.
@@amtrakpepsiproduct1605Any clean air upright can outperform an Oreck XL. Any direct air upright that's designed like a vintage Eureka F&G upright or vintage Hoover Convertible will absolutely outperform an Oreck. As one vacuum dealer said in a video I saw, "It's nothing but a modified Broom Vac."
@RyanSellman1 I have an XL9100. It's not a machine that I've used too often, because I usually used it as a quick clean-up type vacuum, and as I said, for that task, it was great at it. The large bag meant I never had to replace them that often, and despite how soft the brushroll was, it groomed and raised my very matted down carpet very well. I even saw it vibrating small particles on the carpet. Would I recommend an Oreck as a daily driver vacuum? No. Like I said before, these make for great quick clean-up vacs, but were marketed as daily drivers. If these were marketed and priced in a similar fashion to the Regina Electricbrooms, I think these would have had better truth-in-advertising.
R.I.P. David Oreck (1923-2023)
Nice shot at Hoover
Oreck XL9100 Comparing it to the Hoover U4525 Encore. How the times have changed.
Featured Vacuum: Hoover Elite Commercial Lightweight (Also Hoover TurboLite)

I have a oreck canister vacuum works really well
I have a later model of this, still basically the same thing
Happy 99th birthday david oreck
Sad news, he died age 99
@@BradenTheBeaverHTF yup
Rest in peace Mr. Oreck. I had fun working in and managing one of the oreck stores for nearly ten years
Hoover was around before Oreck did
