The entire production was well beyond what one would expect from high school.. amazing work by all. I've got to note that Rosie - Lexie Chiasson - is a HUGE talent! She is so accomplished in her spot-on vocals, her across the lights charisma & just incredible stage presence! A great future!
I loved this. Being an armature video person i appreciate the fact this was such a good video unlike so many where the camera is put on wide and left on. The actors, technical, and lighting was great. I loved the sets and the liberty taken on the set design for The Telephone song. It is obvious a lot of work went into this production. Congrats to all and thanks for making my night.
I've seen many Bye Bye Birdie productions...the Rosie in this is really great....Telephone Hour was not very good...it was really offbeat and off key and sounded strange. The How Lovely to Be A Woman was really strange when it was down an octave lower. I don't understand why they did that, but the acting was alright, but Kim kept changing her notes throughout the show, she didn't act as if she was in the 1950's more like she was in the 2000s. You can tell how she sings that it sounds different from how you would sing if it was classical and in the 50's
Honestly it was a little weird hearing Kim in a lower octave but I honestly thought she did such an amazing job! Plus those added in rifts made up for it!
I didn't mind Kim when she did how lovely to be a woman, but one boy just doesn't sound the same lower. I think they adjusted it for the actor bc they realized she wasn't a soprano probably
Rosie is sensational!!! I also love the girl who played Kim’s friend (sorry don’t know the characters’s name!). but she was lovely! In character EVERY time she was on stage & overall adorable talented young lady!
Hugo was so good! So happy they did the movie versions of some songs to give him a singing part! Kim was too low. She's a good singer but a belter just can't fit her role
Brianna S Me and my music director took parts of the movie and the musical and were able to incorporate it into the show. we rewrote some of the score for the orchestra too. I wasn’t attracted to conrad or albert as much as i was to the character for Hugo because I wanted to reinvent how he was portrayed. I hope you enjoyed it!
The Shriner ballet is very interesting. My school's production is much different. It's closer to the Chita Rivera version, but there's a "Mecha-Shiva" synchronized dancing scene (that's what my director calls it), and instead of the Shriners taking Rosie with her, they just reach up in awe. This was very good as well. Goes to show just how different some productions can be
Yeah, Hugo has no songs. I know because I played him. I sang backstage with the chorus for extra sound a lot, though, and my director was kind enough to write a little solo in right at the end because she knows how much I love to sing. I also sang with the chorus in "One Last Kiss," which was a little weird because I'm actually on stage for that one, but I just made it seem angsty, so it worked fine.
Cheese4G Yes, I got a part in the play (not this one). We had the same scripts and Hugo didn't have any singing parts in the script but the directors didn't want him to not have a singing part because he has a great voice. So the put some singing in the play

Speaking as a director, this had some wonderful stuff for a high school...nice sets...loved the shriner's ballet...rosie has terrific potential, moves well, great voice, wonderful presence...however she put her hands on her hips and popped her knee 5376 times which got very distracting and took away from her terrific performance...kim has a very pretty voice, but she hit puberty in the middle of "how lovely to be woman", which didn't make sense bc she sang the first part of it beautifully....not sure why they couldn't have adjusted the high notes instead of dropping it an octave...disliked all the dancing in "sincere" bc the focus should be on conrad and the effect he has on the girls, and that was completely lost...albert, kim, and conrad were completely forgettable acting wise. HOWEVER, overall, for a high school production it was really well done...it felt polished, but it was lacking exuberance, which is the director's fault. Rosie has a bright future ahead of her! She was the stand out of this production.
I did not like it. I feel like they jumped from movie to play, then back to movie and so on. Also the girl who plays kim seem's to be singing an octave lower then aranged.
I'm not sure if you have already had the show, but you know, just be in the moment, I play Kim in a production going on right now and the Rosie said that you just can't hold back, you have to be in the moment. Just, do your best and don't hold back! I'm sure you'll do/did great!!!
KIMS VOICE IS JUST IMPRESSING!! although her voice is deeper then the tune of the song. They could’ve played the men version it would been easier. (My dad is a professional)
Wow!!! That’s all I have to say, I’ve never seen this show or even the movie so I don’t really know why people are saying Kim wasn’t good I thought she was good. Also the Rosie was AMAZING!!!!! And my high school‘s theatre program could never afford that good of costumes and sets
As a person who hates acting and theatre and just took the class for a requirement and watching this video for a paper. I can easily say... I wish I was there for the live performance.😹
Ok everyone is saying stuff about Kim and I realize that they brought her down but maybe she just couldn't execute the notes well enough though. I think she had great vibrato though.
I’m sorry but hated this Kim. She’s not fit to be Kim. The down the octave was very bad and there were to many extra notes. In One Boy her and Hugo were singing the same part. And her acting wasn’t up to where some of the other girls’ acting was. Like Mrs. MacAfee would be better fit as Kim.
The minor change in Albert's mother's speech is STILL offensive. It is disgusting that young people are hearing this bigotry if what appears to be a family musical.
Wtf is their budget? My school won't even mic up half a class. I'm impressed
So fucking true:)
It’s probably a school that focuses on their products and music department and less on their sports department

Harvey Johnson is a mood
why did they bring kim down the octave???? why???? WHY????
Maddie Adams shes SO belty it just doesnt fit???? Love her voice though girl is talented i’ll give her that
Especially in how “ lovely to be a woman “”
I actually really liked it in one boy.
I'm always amazed by the talent of these young people. Awesome job!!🤩

I agree with you.
The orchestra was the big star in this production! Rosie was great too!
Honestly it was a little weird hearing Kim in a lower octave but I honestly thought she did such an amazing job! Plus those added in rifts made up for it!
the sets are amazing in this! I haven't seen better sets in a long time. Great job!
Hugo's voice crack on "He was a thief, of love~" was so funny! That's my favorite part.
I like the acting a lot, but the wonderful to be woman songs just sounds not right when sung an octave lower.
true. it's a very head voicey song, i know from experience
I agree, It's not an easy song if you can't sing the higher octave.
Also, why is she adding all these pop riffs? It takes place in the late 50's!
Right! I cringed
true!! I'm in a middle school production of it and i'm 12. I'm still singing it in the higher key
that rosie is going places
Send that girl to Broadway!
some of the singing was just screaming sksksks
one boy actually sounded so pretty, i don’t mind the change
I didn't mind Kim when she did how lovely to be a woman, but one boy just doesn't sound the same lower. I think they adjusted it for the actor bc they realized she wasn't a soprano probably
why wasn't Kim's mother cast as Kim?! she has a much better voice for Kim's part.
Rosie is sensational!!! I also love the girl who played Kim’s friend (sorry don’t know the characters’s name!). but she was lovely! In character EVERY time she was on stage & overall adorable talented young lady!

Pdiddydizzle get good at portraying a jealous boyfriend. That’s the most important part of the role!
@@drewconnolly8287 Thank you I'll tell you how I do
@@pearsonkeller5006 how'd you do
Wow!!!!! What a awesome perormance!! Great job!
Very good! I just auditioned for Bye Bye Birdie and I got Hugo! I'm so excited
Hugo Peabody oh my god😂
Sauce Boss I'm Phenolpe Ann
im suzie and one of the people who dance in put on a happy face. Our school is doing Bye Bye Birdie different
I’m in a theater company can’t wait just found out next year that we are doing Buy Buy Birdie!! It’s for all ages from 6-96

Kim’s acting was honestly pretty bad but her singing didn’t bother me that much. And Mae Peterson didn’t rly capture the Mae Peterson but she was ok
Not many people mentioned this, but to me Mrs. Peterson sounds weird without the New York accent
i will be playing guitar in May. wish me good luck
btw the chords at some point are hard af
Huh. The guy playing Hugo seems to be a good singer, but I thought Hugo didn't have many songs in this play.
he actually has none, unless he was in the ensemble.
Yeah, Hugo has no songs. I know because I played him. Doesn’t he sing some in one boy
a wonderful musical.
i think kim did a great job! even though she sang down an octave. And that ROSIE! wow.
Is it me or they changed songs completely!!!!
1:55:20 - monologue
5:32 - an english teacher
22:59 - put on a happy face
38:30 - one boy

Conrad looks lazy...sorry. But wasn't my favorite...Rosie was amazing! That's a fact! loved the show
Marithé Tuyub that's how he's supposed to act lol. He's supposed to act like he thinks he's better than them lol, but ik what you mean
CONRAD IS A CUTIE🤩
Why did they out a lot of livin to do? That was my favorite song.
The Mrs. MacAffee could've played a better Kim
I did not like it. I feel like they jumped from movie to play, then back to movie and so on. Also the girl who plays kim seem's to be singing an octave lower then aranged.
She is and she is making it more modern
seems to be? XD
First-rate in every way!!
I am trying out for this show and would like to get the role of Rosie!! Any tips for me, like what song to sing???
Yo hugo’s adorable
I agree 😉
I want to know where they got all those corded telephones.
Harvey Johnson was good 😂
BTW I love THIS SHOW!!!!!!
The audience seems kind of... dead, but I'm impressed by the quality.
Hi 👋 Kenny🤴🏾💚🎄😎Kenny🤴🏾🎄💚😎
Kim was so good
OMG that Rosie is amazing! I am playing Rosie in the YMCA's bye bye birdie any tips??
Amelia Cox I played Conrad! Just enjoy it while it lasts! Make sure you’re sassy during what did I ever see in him and Spanish Rose!
Thanks and also sadly they cut those two songs! But thanks for the advice

I think they forgot to turn off Harvey's mic after he sings the parts that are only his, that or he just overpowers like all the other boys.
I think she had great vibrato though.
considering this was eight years ago, just wondering if any of these kids continued on with this...
the girl in the middle with the green shirt at 34:27 was having trouble moving her head quick enough XD
Sincere seemed a little rushed to me. I wonder why they chose to do the song so fast
That budget tho, I remember me having to really project while singing bc the mics sucked
What high school was this from?
me *clicks on this video to see what key kim sings in* wait that can’t be right-
That's messed up that they cut the band off like 5 seconds before the last note at the end.
What school is this? I actually kinda liked one boy the way she did it. It does sound a little bad only because I know how it’s supposed to sound
amazing!!!!!!!!
Is this at the Derry Area High School?
Yeah it is

the first scene was wayyy too long lol. the acting was sub par to say the least, no voice changing on albert’s part
But I’m in a different place
The minor change in Albert's mother's speech is STILL offensive. It is disgusting that young people are hearing this bigotry if what appears to be a family musical.
Not in this exact show

They had to be kidding. Singing off key. Acting stunk. Even if a High School production!
If you’re talking about the birdie fangirls it’s written for them to sing it off key. As for anyone else I don’t have an excuse for them haha
