So I could technically go swimming with my earbuds with IP67 rating 30 min -1 meter. I’m not going to because i loose them in normal situations, I don’t need to add elements to my troubles. 😂

Phones were waterproof loooong before Motorola.
I can't believe how often I'd forget to remove my Nokia 3310 from my clothes when throwing it in the laundry bin; still worked like a charm.

Should the phone be dried off before charging? Can you explain how water resistant seals work with cable charging? Thank you!

More premium and modern phones will disable the ports for charging if there's something stuck in there or it has had water there. Does your phone give you a warning that there is debree in the port? It will go away when it should be safe to use again. More budget phones might not have this as it's device by device basis. I would at least wait minimum 24h and leave it in a warm room. Don't put it in rice as that will insulate the water and make the problem worse.

Anyone else remember the Motorola Droid Turbo 2? It was waterproof and had an unbreakable display. Seems like we have gone backwards in ruggedness.

We have. Making all phones that rugged benefits us the consumer but not them the manufacturer/seller. Too well built means long periods between you giving me your money. They try to find a balance between making the item last long enough for you to not rate the product a defective or cheap but not stay up long enough that their profit margins suffer cause you decide to not upgrade cause your device is still "good enough" #Plannedobselescence

Hi! I've got a question. .. if you put an ipx68 phone in an ipx68 case, do ratings add up??

My phone of 3+ years was no longer water resistant within 1meter for 1 minute. I guess upgrading every 2 years is best

There is no such thing as water proof PERIOD, hard stop. There is always a failure point whether it is a physical point or a point in time. Any company advertising any device as being waterproof is false advertising period.
