[앵커]
남자프로농구, KBL에서는 '아시아쿼터제'를 통해 영입된 필리핀 선수들의 활약이 점점 커지고 있는데요.
고양 소노의 케빈 켐바오와 창원LG의 칼 타마요 등 국가대표 출신들이 가세하면서 '필리핀 바람'이 더 거세졌다는 평가입니다.

화려한 돌파에 정확한 3점슛을 앞세워 지난 시즌 '필리핀 바람'의 선봉에 서더니, 결국 국내 선수들을 따돌리고 정규리그 MVP까지 차지했습니다.
그런데 올 시즌 '필리핀 바람'이 더 거세졌습니다.
필리핀 대학농구를 평정하고 고양 소노 유니폼을 입은 케빈 켐바오.
195cm의 장신 포워드로 '필리핀의 최준용'이라는 별명처럼 만능 선수인데, 지난 2일 DB와의 경기에서는 무려 36점을 폭발했습니다.
지난달 12일 SK와의 KBL 데뷔전에서 부상을 당했지만 이후 복귀한 3경기에서 평균 22.7점을 기록중입니다.
[케빈 켐바오/고양 소노] "KBL은 매우 빠른 리그입니다. 이 부분에 적응하고 있고, 제가 어떻게 해야 더 잘할 수 있을지 많이 고민하고 준비하고 있습니다."
창원LG가 야심차게 데려온 칼 타마요도 기대만큼의 모습을 보이고 있습니다.
202cm의 장신 포워드 타마요는 경기당 14.5점을 넣고, 6.1개의 리바운드를 기록중입니다. 3라운드에서 MVP에 뽑혔는데, 라운드 MVP는 아시아쿼터 선수로는 처음입니다.
[이규섭/농구해설위원] "켐바오 선수와 타마요 선수는 필리핀 국가대표 선수로서 사실 아시아쿼터제도를 이용해서 한국에서 뛰는 최상급의 선수라고 볼 수 있는데. 그 선수들이 팀에 부족한 부분을 메워주면서 굉장히 좋은 플레이를 하고 있다는 생각이 듭니다."
여기에 대구 한국가스공사의 샘조세프 벨란겔, 부산 KCC의 켈빈 에피스톨라, 서울 삼성의 저스틴 구탕 등도 팀에 꼭 필요한 선수로 자리잡았습니다.

Ethan albano unfortunately cannot be part of Ph nat team i think, because eventhough he has Filipino parents he was born and raised in US, same with Epistola fil parents but born and raised in canada, FIBA should adopt kbl eligibilty rule aside from birth place, the ethnicity and blood relation can be consider in joining national teams as local players

The gomez brothers are both in the Philippine national theme during Coach Tab. Even Belangel is included in the previous Gilas (National Theme). They used to be a cadet for National theme basketball. Most of them are playing now overseas.

He is from Ryukyu in Japan
@@pamkoh9999 yes he plays in B-Leaugue in Japan but his Nationality is Filipino and he is a member of Philippine Basketball National Team "Gilas Pilipinas"

That kembao is a liability to his team, no defense and such a ballhog, they must replace him if they want to win.
If they want defense, they would've hired other Filipino players, not him. Don't bother looking for defense, Korean basketball is more about offense anyway. He fits perfectly, lol.
