Walter, Those inconsistencies don't make enough difference to make a difference, Most seconds are because of blemishes, the Ogive in in the wrong place, the core was for another bullet because of the lead wire alloy hardness was heat treated for the other, I shot lots of .30 cal seconds in tournaments and they flew just fine. So, I'm glad that you made this video, everyone needs to save money these days and there is nothing wrong with seconds for paper punching. accuracy is the same as inspected firsts. Peace out dude - Dave
My guess is that the cannelure location may be out of tolerance - I’ve purchased “seconds” that had the grooves all over the place and even spiral! I don’t know if the cannelure on those Sierras are meant to be crimp grooves, or if they are a mechanical lock between the cup and core. They ought to shoot fine.
@@papasplace2 thanks Papa. I’ve bought, loaded and shot thousands of such 2nds over the years. Because sometimes, you know, I just don’t feel like casting! 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸
I have had good luck with the 2nd,s that I have gotten from midway so far i have some coming in the next day or two. Hope they are ok as well. Thank you Walter
I have used Midway seconds, They reloaded and shot fine for my needs. I don`t shoot competition, i shoot 8" steel at 12 to 20 yds. at my home range. I wonder if they call them factory seconds because of some kind of blemish on the bullets.
@@TheDuffer426 Hi Duffer. Sometimes there actually ARE cosmetic blemishes such as the ones they advertise as ‘water damage’. I don’t know why these are “2nds” unless the weight variance is out of spec for them. I’ve bought plenty of 2nds as well. Imdid a review on some 44’s last year. Hi Curtis. The cannelures on the V-Crown JHP are there to bind the jacket to the core. These seem to be in the proper place and are all uniform. 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸
