Great Sig! I'm a slant guy, so it was really nice to see this one in action. Looks great and it's one I might have to check out. Yeah, just use it like a regular razor and you'll be good. The twist does make the blade stiffer, almost like an injector blade. It seemed like it was fairly mild yet efficient, so a great one to start with. Really cool brush and in greens, so right up my alley. I might have to get in touch with him and maybe do a collaboration. When he's doing a pour, he could do a small slab and then someone could have a brush and soap scraper as a matched pair.
Thanks, Brother! Definitely a great shaver! The very short handle (74mm) is a bit of a challenge for a big guy like me. I'll have to use a longer handle next time as this is borderline 50's travel-size...🙃 I'm sure Adam at Nameless could help you out with a collab, he's a great guy! Not like the one-trick pony Paul Trotter that'll make you a promise and then ghost and block you with-out a message/reason or anything! Thanks for watching! Have an unsurpassed week! 🤙 #WAD
Great shave with another beauty razor Brother!! I really like the look of the Sentry, but like you, I’d definitely put a longer handle on it. TOBS lime is a great one, forgot all about it actually! Have a good rest of your week and see you on the next one!💈🤘🏻 #WAD
Thanks, Buddy! I think I need to try it with the Envoy XL handle, too... The balance point and overall balance seems better. The shave today was awesome, though. I'm glad I got it! Thanks for watching! Have a great weekend!! 🤙 #WAD
@SIGSOLO I was not able to comment the normal way. I'm not sure why that option is not there. For me slants always take a minute to get used to. Enjoy the new razor.
@@pjwroblewski That's one of YT's small glitches!! 🙃 I agree! This one was also kind of hard to load after the first try...🤭 Thanks for watching! Have a great weekend! 🤙 #WAD
Nice video Sig. I just got my Sentry today and also 100 Perma Sharp blades. Tomorrow morning I'll give them both a try. I've always admired Matt and was happy to pay the premium for his razor. It feels good to support small businesses that make their products in America. Not sure I'll try it on my head on the first day. My Henson Titanium is all i have been using up there. I might spring for s bigger handle for head shaves if it becomes available. Cheers!
Thanks, Buddy! It's a really nice razor. You're in for a treat! I agree; I'm not complaining about the price either. His work and vision is right up my valley. I will buy the longer handle when/if it become available. And I'll try the Envoy XL handle on it next. The length and COG/balance seems better, imho. Thanks for watching! Have a great weekend! #WAD
@@SIGSOLO Well I just finished my head and face shave and I have to say I'm more impressed than I though I would be. I shaved both my face & head and the shave was smooth and efficient just like advertised. I did a cold water shave on my head which helped feeling where the blade was because it was cold. This might be my go to razor now. The handle size didn't even bother me like I thought it would. No need to change it IMHO. Cheers!!
Thanks, Buddy! The Semi-slant is a fine razor! I'm not sure about the documented effect of the slant. A hair is 1/20mm... The blade contact is minimal. A cross pass should/might have a similar effect, IDK? Thanks for watching! Have an unsurpassed week 🤙 #WAD
Rex Supply makes quality safety razors. Given how critical Matt P is about manufacturing, I am surprised there was any damage on the base plate. I would think he would send an exchange at no cost. The issue with my Rex Ambassador is the positive blade exposure (blade feel). Matt said the Konsul and Sentry have a neutral blade exposure and much less blade feel. I've never used a slant razor but IMO the Rex Supply razors are not worth the high price. My RazoRock Game Changer is a quality-designed and manufactured stainless steel safety razor at one-third the price of the Sentry. But I'm not a collector.
Thanks, Buddy! I'm sure they'd offer a polish or a new base plate if I contacted them. It's ok. It's not going anywhere and I'll manage...Just had to share the info for a full disclosure... The Sentry is much less blade-feely than the Ambassador and the Envoy. I understand you views on the price and agree on the point you make. However, Razorock is not made/designed in the US and their razor are(from their site): 'Not jewellery. They are tools and therefore machine marks and smaller scratches are to be expected'. I've had a few razors from Razorock that had scratches and moulding issues, marks, dings and nicks. The shave is not affected, though... Thanks for watching! Have an unsurpassed week! 🤙 #WAD
@@SIGSOLO I agree that my Rex Ambassador is a pristinely made safety razor. To my critical eye, the Game Changer is almost as pristine. Made in the USA is the main reason I purchased the RA. If it was the only safety razor I owned, I could adapt to using it as a daily driver. But I can shave with the Rockwell 6S on autopilot with no worries about nicks or irritation. You have so many safety razors in your collection that I imagine it would be impossible to pick just one as a favorite.
@@BartBuzz Thanks, Buddy! I have 16 razors from Razorock. 5 of them arrived with marks, scratches, ding and moulding issues. Nothing that affects the shave. Only one is perfect and pristine. They all shave fine, though. The Ambassador is a great razor, but a tad too blade-feely for me to use it as a daily-driver, imho.. The 6S is fantastic razor and would be in my top 3 if I could only pick 3 DE's... The other two varies....🙃
@@SIGSOLO Wow! Only 16 😉 I agree that spending $50-$100 compared to $200-$400, one would expect "perfection." I'm glad to know that the RA has a bit more blade feel for you too. My RA is typically set at 2.5 for pass one and then setting 1 for the rest of the shave. On the other hand, for the 6S I use the R4 plate for a close, comfortable, no-issues shave. I have a similar result with my Game Changer 68. It's just not quite as smooth. But I do like the "looks" better.
I thought that you had performed a shave with a different brand of slant prior to this video🤔. I guess that I am mistaken. In any case, I have a PAA Glow in the Dark , El Fantasm Fake Bakelite(it used a contemporary ABS plastic)Slant, and I didn't find any difference between it and a standard DE razor. And nope, I don't have one of REX variety.
Thanks, Buddy! I have used a couple of slants before: Merkur 39C, Yaqi Slope, Yaqi Agamemnon, Parker 55SL and most likely a few more. I Also have the El Fantasma from PAA but haven't used it. I got the Fasan no.1 in mint condition in the few months back (haven't used it either). The Sentry has a full-grown slant going on. The blade is super torcked/torque(I know that's not spelled like that but I'm too tired to look it up 🙃) Thanks for watching! Have a great weekend 🤙 #WAD
Pity about those sharp corners, I would have expected a bit of corner smoothing from a Rex, great looking razor though with what seems like a mild but efficient shave. 🤟WAD🤟
Thanks, mate! the sharp edge is on the inside of the slanted bar on the base plate. So it's only when handleing the base plate you might lose a thumb🙃 It is indeed very mild. Have a great week to come!! Thanks for watching! 🤙 #WAD
