Planted one of Gary's Reeds prominently in my front yard based on such advice mid 2019, growing STRONG so far, transported it and a Wurtz in back of my sports car but now they are too big for a pickup truck.

I like the way to you say it 'Opportunivor' and how you described Reed Cultivar Avocado. I ate Reed avocado this year and its taste was very good and has nice texture. It has greater flesh composition versus the whole fruit volume or mass (ratio).

So we can't grow Hass here in Florida. To much humidity. When you say the reed is more tropical...does that imply that it'll do well here?

I think I am an opportunivore as well.
I aim to not let a tree's effort go to waste. But its okay if I dont get it first because just the other day I saw that even the avocado seed is devoured by pill bugs! And after that the one avocado that went uneaten on my watch, eventually returns to the mother tree in the form of organic nutrients 😎
    Curious,
did your Big Mupp seedling eventually bear a good tasting avocado?
Any idea what variety that old Big Mupp mother tree was?

Gary, I am elated to find out about you, your expertise and Golden Gate Palms Nursery. I was flabbergasted to hear of/see your success growing Guatemalan and Guatemalan/Mexican mixes in Lafayette. We live on a little more than a quarter acre in Livermore with what I hope are some good microclimates for avocado trees (good full sun with protection from wind and some good radiative structures to the north of where the trees will be planted. I will call during the week. I'm thinking of planting 4-5 trees and need your advice and hopefully four or five of your trees. Thinking of Mexicola and other Mexican or mix and a couple of Little Cados if you think I can give them a good home for fruiting. I have a number of questions and look forward to talking with you. Thanks!

That is exactly the way you eat an avocado without any tools, just like an apple, but you take off the husk.

Gary, I purchased a Reed avocado tree last year... the tree is three feet tall but not growing, it has branch that is about ten inches long that has started to turn black. Any ideas on how or why it's doing that?

I just bought a Reed avocado tree from a nursery, but it seems different than yours. Could you help me confirm if my tree is an actual Reed please? Here is the picture of the leaf i.ibb.co/Zm2M0qP/20220609-165202.jpg
    Thank you
