I work in health care and I've had a patient before that drank so heavily during his life that the doctor actually PRESCRIBED him one beer a day(live in germany haha), or his organs would fail & he'd die. Since their bodies get so accustomed to the alcohol at some point no bodily function will do its thing without alcohol & they either have to keep drinking a certain amount or detox veeeeeeeery slowly. Alcohol abuse does just as much harm to the body as meth, let me tell you.
Also, it's SO much more harder for the human body to quit alcohol (can take yrs to get clean) than for example heroin (usually takes about 3 weeks for the body to have detoxed from H & for it to function normally again). Alcohol is pure evil & on the same step imo as meth or heroin. It kills slowly but brutal, seen some cases due to my work that were just horrible to watch them wither away because there was basically nothing else we could do, other than maybe ease their pain, but also that is hard with real hardcore alcoholics. Addiction is such a terrible disease, I wish it on no body.

Alcohol is the only drug you can die from withdraw from. I don't drink but I learned a lot about alcohol because all of my uncles, brother is coming Dad, Grandpa they're all severe alcoholics. This is why I don't drink. Now I have drink before maybe once or twice a year and complete moderation though. It's definitely not excusable but I guarantee that's why he still would I'm not even half with your video but I'm sure he don't want to deal with the withdrawals of it. Doctor told my brother was do not try to quit on your own just dangerous You could kill you. Anyway though my oldest brother is 3 years clean and sober for a first time it is entire life! He is 53 years old are drinking when he was like 14! Even still these instances are very rare. However with alcohol it is not rare at all. It's the most dangerous drug to withdraw from. The difference is opioid withdrawal (which is extremely rare)can LEAD to death, as to where alcohol can actually cause death. There's a huge difference there.

I quit Christmas Day this year. It's been 4 days and it's a struggle within myself. It's quite the paradox.
