Such a fantastic album. Glad u gave it justice :)
this album has a lot of heart. it’s their most lyrically potent and dives deep at such prominent topics. it will grow on u the more u come back to it and immerse into the atmosphere that VW paints and yea i agree it is more rewarding the more u listen and i feel this album grasped hold of the musical “connection” with the world and a lot of material can be found very cathartic in it’s underlining themes and very pleasant to the ear as how grandiose and fleshed out the music sounds, love this album a lot, thanks for the vid!
Honestly Ya Hey is probably my favorite VW song and one of my favorite songs period. The song just takes me to another place and makes me feel a sense of nostalgia and a sort of sad happiness🤷♂️
this album was ahead of his time
This album was one that had to grow on me too! Awesome review :)
Jon, love how you re-evaluate past reviews. I may be slightly biased as I like this album but kudos for always looking at past albums from a different point of view rather than sticking with a stubborn opinion. Some of my favourite or least favourite albums have changed in my perspective within recent years but thats a natural journey
Not that your last review was stubborn, just glad you always have an open mind
Thank you!!
My favorite album of all time. I’ve been wait so long for this video. Amazing
Does this mean that "Diane Young" changed your mind?
I was listening to it today lol. My favorite song, Unbelievers, is on that album.
2.40 of Hannah Hunt should not slap that hard and punch you in the gut like it does but it does anyway and I'm thankful for it.
This album has songs I come back to more than their others. I love their first 2 albums, but something about the sound and lyrics of this album just really got it right for me.
I'm excited to see what their 4th album brings.
I love how you said that "Finger Back" is "snappy", since the first line of the song literally describes snapping someone's finger. Ow. That's an interesting song to go back to now that we have "Harmony Hall", which many VW fans have pointed out uses the last line from "Finger Back" as part of its chorus. This makes me wonder if Father of the Bride will have other songs that reference past VW songs, or if some of their previous songs are interrelated in ways I hadn't taken the time to notice before.
I was initially lukewarm on Modern Vampires as well; I came up on it quite a bit by the end of 2013, so it did pretty well on my year end list then and I've listened to it quite a bit since then, during the drought preceding their fourth album. Modern Vampires made me realize they could do slow and ominous songs well - I guess there were a small handful on their previous albums that I thought were OK, but on the first two albums I was mostly into them for the more upbeat/rhythmic stuff.
Hannah Hunt wasn't one of my favorites at first, but it's definitely grown on me. I think it definitely has some appeal outside of the band's immediate scene. Here's a folk/bluegrass cover by the band I'm With Her.

‘Worship you’ is criminally underrated, very different but it’s insane
Theirs something special about Vampire Weekend.
I think the music itself on this album is phenomenal - never really looked into the lyrics. Maybe that will add another layer of love that I already have in droves for this album.
Glad you changed your mind on it, it's my favourite Vampire Weekend album. Can you do In Rainbows by Radiohead or Agaetis Byrjun by Sigur Rós?
Ya Hey is like the best song of the century ...
It almost is until the chorus decides to fucking suck
When i first heard this album I disliked it, but after about a year or two it really grew on me. Now it is one of my favorite albums and bands hands down! Absolutely love them and cannot wait for FOTB. Agree with your rating and love for the album/band 100%
A true masterpiece. One of my favorites of all time.
about to be a great vid as always
How funny. Hannah Hunt came on my shuffle today
There's hope for you yet. Their Ivy League brain flexing in their lyrics does make it tough to decipher often.
It’s a good night 🤙 with John
It seems like everyone adores Hannah Hunt but me. They did it when I saw them last year and everyone freaked out, but I'm more of a fan of their fun or quirky tracks and have never been a huge fan of slower songs.
One of the only music reviewers on yt that knows them!
would you ever make an episode where you give a worse updated score?
Of course. As I said in this episode, it could be a higher or lower score.
This album grew on me a lot as well, fantastic album
Amazing album
i love this video
Honestly man, PLEASE listen to Martha from the UK. Give them a chance and you'll love them
Jon, can you review more classic albums?
You should do the I got it wrong on the aar album that one was great (the album not the review)

Please do, it's worth every second.
go do it now
If I can’t trust u then damn it Hannah
Hey! I have that shirt! I also love this album and can't wait for Father of the Bride
I’m glad you have this one a second listen. I respect your opinions of course, but the first review on this one always shocked me. Great to see that you’re super open minded about music you previously didn’t enjoy
Absolutely incredible album and band. You should review Sunflower and Big Blue by vampire weekend
Melvin A he has a two single limit before the release of an album he’s anticipating, he’s already heard HH/2021 so he’s not gonna listen to the rest of the singles to preserve the album listening experience
MAKE A WEEZER MARCH MADNESS BRACKET
