FRV is my got-to; For-too "help me" coach my daughter (12U 1-Blu) with her skillsets: Striking/setting, all defense all the time. I'm a baseball coach...so coaching mechanics is my bread and butter...I may not a V-Ball player, but, understand the fundamentals and mechanics as soon as I see them and witness a goof on the court. Thank you coach and Players for your time

Ankle braces are not part of the uniform, nor a fashion statement. They are gear that it should be used if you have an ankle injury. If you never had an ankle injury you are actually restricting the natural range of motion of your ankles. This is the equivalent of wearing the knee braces, the ones with the bars on the side how Brady and Garropolo wear because they had knee surgeries.
Unless all the players in this team had previous ankle injuries, then I will say that someone is either giving them poor advice, or this team is sponsored by the braces' manufacturer. if you go to any sports medicine clinic that is worth their salt they would tell you this.
Having the right type of shoes is what matters.

I think these are actually the kind of braces to prevent ankle injuries. They look much thinner and lighter to me than the ones you described. But I have never seen a whole team wearing those.
