Interesting, thanks! Would also be interested in the HRV measurement accuracy. Polar's supposed to be good and some athletes even use it to steer their training
This is so cool!! I am shocked that polar vantage M did worse at detecting training HR than apple watch! As they are specially designed as sports watch! Please do Polar vantage V and especially V2 analysis!
what Apple does is black magic, no one get close, even Garmin with all their money and investment is nowhere as close, to be honest I have no idea how they differ the real data from fake readings on the wrist because of muscle tension, incomplete readings because of the intricate veins path on the wrist and the movement of the exercise, but they excel at it.
Polar calculates step counting differently. It is more an activity counter (even though they do list it as steps😒). They attempt to analyse all physical activity(biking, rowing, etc) and count activity that other trackers wouldn't accept as walking. Expect a lot of false positives. Love your videos!
Yes I agree. Just got the vantage m2, and the so called steps count is horrible. Step count should only mean counting your steps and distance. Same thing for calories burned, way overestimated !! Polar should change this. I stopped wearing it 24/7

Thank you for your very hard work. Your throughout testing ensured me that I've bought right watch for me. I bought Polar Vantage M almost half year ago. I've chosen it over other brands for accuracy of sleep tracking and that it has only sports features. I use it always with H10.
Hi, Rob, love your videos. I enjoy purchasing and using smartwatches. I have just purchased the galaxy watch 4 and am not happy with it. While I am waiting on the charge 5, I was looking into buying a polar watch. Were you able to gather longer results for the polar watch? Thanks Rob
Excellent video as usual! I’m not sure if you have noticed it but the Vantage V also monitors HRV during the whole night. It is not possible to export the data but I’m sure you can find a solution for that. 😬 It would nice to see how it compares to the Oura ring (benchmark).
Great work, I am also doing my Ph.D. I really like the way you explain the measurement in a simple way for everybody. The way you organize the introduction of the experiment settings then go deeper into each criterion and finish up your video with the discussion and further plan make it like a scientific paper. But why there is no comparison across devices like the one with Apple Watch or Fitbit? Please post a comparison video if you have time. :D
You mentioned that you had indicated in the setting that you wear the watch on your right hand - during the step counting test when you changed hands did you also change the settings? This actually might influence the result: my M600 got a lap counting feature for swimming and if I wore it on the "wrong" hand then it wouldn't count anything, changed the settings and instantly worked again. Step counting is probably more similar left hand vs right hand, but there still might be some difference in Polar's algorithms. Something to keep in mind when doing the more extensive testing. Great choice of colours on the Vantage M - I recently bought one too and black/copper looks so good! ;)
Hello my friend. As always great work. Would love to see some according to find data on the fit track watch from our favorite scientist. Hope you are safe and well.
Excellent video. This watches sleep tracker looks very promising compared to others I’ve seen you review. Also... In each video I’ve seen so far I see you’re wearing what looks like an Oura Smart Ring. Are you doing an extended test with it, or is it your go-to for wearable sleep trackers?

There is an index called ANS in its sleep function which i'm interested in, but apple watch doesn't have this. Besides, I also heard that Polar will release vantage v3 in the second half of this year (Maybe in September or October) or the first half of next year. Anyway, your videos support me a lot, thank you again!!🥰We support you !!!

in my personal use after half a year, it's quite accurate, at least for me. When I did not listen to it when it asked me to slow down I ended injured, when I listened to it and changed my trainings based on the intensity suggested, I had very productive weeks. In fact, I'm in by best physical condition of my whole life after 6 months of wearing the M2.
Sleep interpretation is also a software thing... I could tell back then, without any measurements, that the good old V800 tracked better than the newer Fenix 5 (perhaps even my current 6X)... Fitbit ionic was correctly tracking even random sleep during day...
Thanks Rob! I'm seeing a lot of your videos and now it's clear that if I want to accurately measure my heart rate during weight lifting I need a chest sensor. However, monitoring it in real-time on my phone would be inconvenient... Do you have any suggestions on watches that can sync with polar h10? I only know the more expensive polar and garmin watches, however it is much more expensive on the Brazilian market (currency exchange and import taxation)
