Everytime I roll the dice is one of the top 10 best records I've ever bought I am a musician and I've been playing the guitar harmonica and vocals since 1972 when Rita leaves is one of my favorite songs to play for the public Delbert McClinton is one of the very best and I've listened to them all
In the late 90s we went to see BBKing ,,, Delbert Mcclinton was the opening act ,,, ever since I’ve been a big fan of his music,,, one of the best voices in my opinion of blues, rock and country blues I’ve heard
This is absolutely awesome. Songwriting at its VERY best. Delbert is an inimitable slice of Americana: melodic, soulful, deep and true. Nicholson solo is very good and let's not forget the trumpet player and those beautiful Tex Mex flourishes. Nice to see there's only one deaf person here among thousands who get it
Great song. She left a lipstick letter on the mirror shattered on the bathroom floor All I could put back together was never see me no more Took all her clothes but one red dress, the one she knows I like the best All I could do was clean up the mess and wonder where she'd gone I had a sky-blue, rag top Mustang, a 1964 She drove it off into the night till it just wouldn't go no more She caught a ride on into town, bought some gas and laid the top down Then she burned that pony to the ground on the desert in new Mexico When Rita leaves, Rita's gone She gave me every chance a man could want I've never known a love so strong Or so crazy when she's been done wrong When Rita leaves, Rita's gone I put a call into her mamasita back in El Paso She said she got the story from Rita on her way to Mexico Her mama knew I was takin' it hard, said she was sorry about my car She said, "You're lucky all she broke was your heart You better just let her go" When Rita leaves, Rita's gone She gave me every chance a man could want I've never known a love so strong Or so crazy when she's been done wrong When Rita leaves, Rita's gone She never gave me a chance to explain Well I guess it doesn't much matter now anyway When Rita leaves, Rita's gone When Rita leaves, Rita's gone
Good to be among folks with such exquisite taste. Feel very humble having just re-visited my own poor Mickey Rocks Big Band cover. They both wrote it I believe and squeeze every emotion out of the song. Superb and without equal

Canção maravilhosa. Saudações do Brasil.
I've been a Delbert fan since the very early 80's, and probably have seen him 15+ times.... none better.
Great song.
She left a lipstick letter on the mirror shattered on the bathroom floor
All I could put back together was never see me no more
Took all her clothes but one red dress, the one she knows I like the best
All I could do was clean up the mess and wonder where she'd gone
I had a sky-blue, rag top Mustang, a 1964
She drove it off into the night till it just wouldn't go no more

Then she burned that pony to the ground on the desert in new Mexico
When Rita leaves, Rita's gone
She gave me every chance a man could want
I've never known a love so strong
Or so crazy when she's been done wrong
When Rita leaves, Rita's gone
I put a call into her mamasita back in El Paso
She said she got the story from Rita on her way to Mexico
Her mama knew I was takin' it hard, said she was sorry about my car
She said, "You're lucky all she broke was your heart
You better just let her go"
When Rita leaves, Rita's gone
She gave me every chance a man could want
I've never known a love so strong
Or so crazy when she's been done wrong
When Rita leaves, Rita's gone
She never gave me a chance to explain
Well I guess it doesn't much matter now anyway
When Rita leaves, Rita's gone
When Rita leaves, Rita's gone
Fantastic song

Can't help but notice the Clay McClinton hat!
He is the "best" R&B artist of all time.
BEST RENDITION OF RITA
Is that Curtis Salgado in the beret ? I may be mistaken but ... you never know.
Rita Coolidge ,broke his heart
Did he have a relationship with her, or does this concern her marriage to Kris Kristofferson?
Was this from a Sandy Beeches cruise?
gotta agree with Michael H
Great song, but know when to call it quits
