I've only been playing a month in this franchise and about to get into cows and TMR etc. This video has helped me learn how to not only make silage in various ways from start to finish but has been tremendous in helping me set up this new aspect of my farm. Thank you!
Just an fyi for all of you starting to do silage, the chaff does not need to be max height that does not matter unless you want to fill the bunker to the max nor does it need to be smooth. It just needs to be 100% compacted and smooth enough to drive on.

Having trouble deciding if I want to use bunkers, or bales. I did bales in 17. Thinking of going bunkers in 19, along with a hay loft to not have stacks of bales everywhere.
I used the blade once as it said that it was intended for this specific job but i could not for the life of me figure out how to use it to look smoth so i have never used it again. Instead i just drive over the material multiple times untill it says 100% Ofc i have never put in enough material to the point where u have to push it around. In the next year of my season i have planned to chaff corn on my biggest field and se how mutch profit u can get for selling it all. btw do u need a separate mod for snow plowing on slovak village? I can´t find one in the shop.
The reason that some trailers work with the Forage Harvester and some don't is because the Harvester is using a "Pinhook" system where a metal bar in inserted down into an "eye" in the trailer. but some trailers use the standard "ball" like your typical car, these won't work with the forage harvester, personally, I have downloaded a mod with a "Pinhook" auger waggon for easy unloading into semi-trucks.
There's an important different between chaff and grass; Courseplay's new leveling and compac mode cannot level grass with any of the standard leveling blades. Those can only be used to level chaff. So if you want to use courseplay and make silage from grass, you're left with making a "back and forth"-course to automate compacting of the silo. Edit: this conclusion simply isn't correct. Courseplay have issues with the auto level function, but it is not related to the tool equipped in this way.
I can't find how to place the silo. I can't seem to put it on my field in PS4. Is there something I need to do first? How do I get the nic big concrete area you seem to have?
Under build mode in silos are the silage bunkers. If you own the land you can place buildings on it assuming the land is not to hilly for the game to level it out.
I bought a small bunker. Then used the loading wagon to pick up cut grass. Drove it to the bunker but it didn't give me an option to empty it when I pulled into the bunker (PS4). Any ideas? Thanks! Great video.
@@cofersn7 I've had that issue before when trying to unload grass into the bunker when it shows that it's not 100% empty of silage. I think it's a bug. If you have the issue, save your game, quit to the main menu and start your career from your save. It tends to empty out the "ghost silage".
You can, but as you probably realized if you tried it already, is that the wagon tends to get stuck all the time. Best way to get silage out I found is by using belt systems.

So far best way to get it to unfold fully is by using belt systems and moving it close enough to it and (while being turned on beforehand) that it reaches the other side briefly and that usually uncovers it. There is a mod, I think called "real shovel" or something, that pushes the silage around when using a front loader bucket, this also tends to uncover the silage well but the mod caused some key binding issues so I had to remove it.
@@FarmerKlein It was, for sure. I tested on a another map and it covered but then wouldn't uncover all of it. Must be a glitch somewhere. I'm running all updated stuff. I'll find it sooner or later. :)
For some reason when I have a trailer full of chaff the game will not allow me to tip the chaff in the bunker no matter what I do even when I press the buttons without the prompt coming up. I’m on ps4 and I can’t progress in my save because of this glitch, any tips?
Okay, so why do I have a full loading trailer but cannot unload it into my bunker….? I have no option to dump it at all. With the exact same loading trailer you have. But I cannot unload it.
Fairly sure I said in the video but its been a long time. You have to do a force unload which is something like crtl + i If I am recalling the default key binding.
Depending on the forage harvester header you use, you can turn a few other plants to chaff (wheat, barley, oat, canola, and soybeans), but you'll get more money by selling your regular harvest instead of turning it into chaff unless it is corn which is worth more when converted to silage than it is as a regular corn harvest.
@@duckdestroyer2412 It wont open until its 100% done fermenting. if its done fermenting per the F1 menu then the R key I think uncovers it. it only uncovers a portion until you drive into it with a bucket to remove then it will uncover sections at a time.
I think I did something wrong. Because I had very little in the bunker silo and I just picked it up with a loading wagon. and everytime I try a front loader it just sticks into the tarp and doesn't open up so maybe a glitch or poor programming?
its not overly hard but more time consuming. there are just two ways to make silage either wrap grass bales or put it in a bunker in the base game. There are mods available that allow processing of silage by putting it in a custom silo which many find much easier. This series though did not cover mods as it was focused on base gameplay.

Learnt a few tips cheers. I just use the milling machine to collect all my loose material and trailer over using the Krone forage harvester.
Yep you could do that also. We dont cover mods much in these as it could becomes dated if a mod becomes unavailable or something

Yaknow you don't have to wait till midnight when you process your silage.... just speed the timer up like you did for waiting on it to cook

You have to force unload trailers in bunkers.

R I believe it is the F1 menu would say what the blanket button is especially if your using a controller or maybe have remapped it.
Can you load the fermented silage by driving a "loading wagon" over it? Or are the loading bucket or belt setups the only ways to load into a wagon?
You will just have to try and see.

How come the forager can pick up grass directly into a trailer, but with corn you have to drive beside it?

If the trailer can connect to the harvester then it can connect regardless of the task. I was demonstrating different techniques

No. Silage bunkers wont take hay.
It doesn’t matter too much cus I made bales from it, turns out it made 100 bales!!

no you can only put grass or chaff in a silage bunker.
You can use the mower attachment for the forage harvester and mow wheat and it will tern to chaff when you mow/ chop it!

I can't unload the chaff once it's loaded anywhere. On the Xbox, nothing is going up to unload. Obviously I'm screening wrong. I'm getting pissed.

Silage can be sold at the BGA or sometimes the bale sell point or it can be fed to cows directly or mixed as total mixed rations.

Depends if the mower supports it or not. It would be listed in the F1 menu usually listed as change mode.
I never get the option to blanket the silo. I've got the silage at 99% compression, and it's all inside the bunker.
For anyone having the same problem later who is coming from fs15, apparently it *must* be at 100% in FS19 in order to cover the silo

How to put the blanket over the bunker on ps4
If you turn on the help menu it would say once your standing in the bunker. I only play on PC so I do not know what the PS4 or XBox controls are.
My solo wont open all the way... I get the silage from both sides but the center wont open up. Its frustrating.

on pc its usually the N key to remove the cover but the F1 menu will tell you.

You can't put grass in a bunkerbthat already has silage in it. It must be fully emptied then it can be added to.
