By the way, FYI for Pioneer, I just bought an S7 as it is the only two channel mixer I could get with built in hardware echo effect as well as a booth output. Otherwise I would have gotten a DJM-450. I am glad I did go for this though as I want to attempt to learn how to utilize the various modes to add flare and fun to my DJ sets. Tutorials like this are exactly what I’m after.

Gate cue is a new pad mode specifically for use with DVS configuration when using turntables with a timecode record. Prior to this mode, there was no way to do momentary triggers of each hot cue. Gate cue achieves a gated hot cue slightly differently than on a DJ controller with the deck stopped. It triggers a “muted deck” that only opens when you trigger the pad. This unique behavior is what makes this technique possible. It’s very similar to what happens when you activate a silent cue.
The DDJ-REV7 does not have an independent gate cue pad mode. The reason is because the DDJ-REV7 is a controller, which means the regular hot cue can behave gated when the track is stopped. However, the independent gate cue pad mode, this technique cannot be done on the DDJ-REV7.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but gate cue is featured only on the DJM-S11 and DJM-S7.
