What happened at 1:57 - lady switched from sneakers to heels? Someone told her that for lady it is really difficult to dance ballroom without heels.
I personally prefer to dance classical figures and link them according to music.

They had used a lot of different steps. But, they are not smoothly gliding around the dance floor.
They are not smooth because he is wearing sneakers. You can't pivot smoothly with rubber gripping the floor. Either buy dance shoes, or if that is too expensive, buy flat shoes with leather bottoms.
You don't have to relearn anything. Just wear shoes made for dancing!
