does this mean that if you get a ipad with find me turned on, through itunes and the internet, it will give your location to apple or previous owner.? With a VPN on, they woudlnt see your reazl location of course but for the other, does the old account holder get your actual location?

Yes, potentially. Many thieves have been caught with that exact scenario. Even with a VPN may still show up based on GPS.

@@JayBrokers Hi, thanks, I slowly understanding how all this works with "find my ipad" IF...... "find my ipad" isnt turned on on the ipad, but there is a account set up, then the owner CANT find it using software from a remote computer? Can he then sign in and turn it on remotely? and if so, does this mean the ipad also has to connect to itunes too? to turn it on on the ipad mother board?

@@xx3868 Best bet is to reset the iPad then and that'll sign out of the acct. If FMI is active though it'll force you to use credentials.

Best bet is to contact Apple Support. I realize that may not be the answer you're looking for, but they are the only ones who can ethically help you unlock the old account and get it cleared up. They'll have you verify a bunch of information and they might escelate to a higher level support team, but they should be able to get it squared away for you.

Try rebooting, try different internet connection. Otherwise if those don't work, next step is to use another Mac to restore/update via Finder ("Restore your device to its factory settings..."): support.apple.com/sq-al/guide/mac-help/mchla3c8ed03/mac

how to fix there was a error connecting tot he apple id server

Try again and see if it is an intermittent Apple server issue, or persists over several days. If persists, could be a cryptic error pointing to something else in reality or an internet issue potentially.
