Absolutely! Look at how Margalita's first diagonal runs on pointe are otherworldly smooth, unshaken pirouettes... I can go on like forever as I praise Trekhova Mirtha or Mezentseva Giselle, just Legendal. And praise the great coach in Dudinskaya, her students were so strong in footworks.
I agree with you. She's so fast and she dances so softly that she really looks like a shadow, you can't see preparations for pirouettes or jumps. Pity, that she dances only shadow in Bayadere, I think she could be great Nikya.
I don’t think this was the variation for Genie, it just doesn’t sit right. Her most beautiful performances she did was Cupid and the variation from legend of love, shame I forgot the name of it
I love her but she is definitely not her best here. I agree it might have something to do with the costume, I can only imagine how annoying those arms decorations are!
I checked Kulik's version of this and yes, she's very strong with her hops. But I did not see very much difference with the foot technique, Kulik only danced across the stage. So what is Evgenia doing wrong? I am just curios I am a dancer myself. :)
This is the best I've ever seen this variation performed. However, I don't think it shows off Obraztsova's best attributes... Interesting casting choice I'd say. I'm biased, though, because I hate this variation. Still, OBRAZTSOVA RULES
I usually like the draped arm fabric in La Bayadere but the way this costume is done doesn't work. I prefer the version draped from the hair, elbow and then maybe wrist. This just ruins the arm line instead of flowing with it and leaving the hands visible.
I myself am a great fan of Genia, she's my eternal Lavrovsky Juliet, Ratmansky Cinderella, Jakobson Syuimbike but technically Kulik is far superior in this, I believe. Since 0:16 Genia handles the sequence like piquet arabesque to plie and Kulik nailed extremely clean double arabesque hops on pointe.
@nicolezly Yu Hui Choe from Royal Ballet? For me she isn't fast enough and she smiles too much, though I think all three shades from RB smile, I have no idea why, after all it's not happy and cheerful part of this ballet.

I love Obraztsova, she seems so sweet, but I do agree she appears off in this variation

I love Genia - but this variation is too slow.

I mean I agree with shipulinafan :).
@DarlingCalamity
Yeah, she looks a little more stiff than usual, but I wish my "off days" looked like this.
Yes, yes! That was an amazing performance from Kullik!
i absolutely agree on costume. I never liked it. It make hands look shorter that they are.

omg She would be the perfect Nikya!!! She's such a wonderful actress...
OMG I hate this costume too, it must be hell to dance with that thing hanging from your bun and wrists!
I don't care for the scarves either.
I agree with you, but I still love it because I can see character and style she gave to this variation.

K, will you please post Yulia's second shade variation if you have it? It used to be on UA-cam but now only her third is. Thanks. -A
The pinackle of this variation is arabesque hops on pointe. She could not do them correctly. No match with Margalita Kulik's greatness!
Just saw her didn´t like her
