Another cliche comment that everyone says...you ever notice that none of the comments on UA-cam are ever about the music...there always cliche comments that don't take a lot of thought or in depth musical knowledge...nothing that you actually learn something new from or would write in a magazine article about the band...in fact, a lot of UA-cam comments ruin what music is really supposed to be...most of the UA-cam comments are just opinions that dirty up the energy, flow and air space that is entitled for the song...that's why artists and bands don't even look at the comments or they would probably feel insulted about a lot of them, not by them but what the comment is actually about...music is art...people who critique art that have never picked up a paint brush and painted a original piece of art really don't have the ability to properly comment about anything a artist creates...it's like someone answering the phone in a different language then the language being used by the person calling...you will not find this comment that I just wrote here on any other video on UA-cam or anywhere in the world. It is a original thought unlike 90% of all UA-cam comments which are either the same comment on different video's hence "I'm the first person to comment on this video" or the standard cliche comment "this band doesn't get the recognition they deserve" or "this song makes me feel like walking into McDonalds and ordering 10 Big Mac's before I punch the manager in the face"...these are typical grade school cliche comments that you find on many video's and at the same time it's these kind of low class cliche comments that get more likes then a thoughtful creative well written talented inspiring comment that usually doesn't get a like at all. Instead, the students graduating highschool and college are not accomplishing anything new hence these same old cliche non-inspiring comments on almost every video getting the most attention and most likes which drain the reader of learning anything new or developing anything creative for the next students graduating therefore we have more and more followers online and in the world which is why there has been no new music that is top shelf of innovative creations or inventions for the last century. Living Colour is a band from the 80's! Late 80's early 90's mind you. How can Corey Glover still be singing at this level and probably even better than he was then!? Amazing!!
@D M You couldn't be more correct. I play in a band that has had pretty good regional success, and I would give my a$$ to go down there and play. I'd always heard how great the crowds were down there, but I think it was when I saw Rush perform YYZ a few years back down there that it really blew my mind. Hell - you could tell it blew Rush's minds!
Yes! I saw them on their first tour, just before the debut was released -- and Corey might sound *better* now! (don't get me wrong, they were amazing then...)
0:23 - Middle man 4:49 - (Intro) + Desperate People 12:23 - Ignorance Is Bliss 16:02 - 'Iron Man' by Doug Wimbish 17:23 - Wall 24:16 - This Little Pig 28:06 - Type 33:55 - Will Calhoun Solo 36:43 - Time's Up 41:07 - Rock and Roll (with Steve Vai) 46:00 - This is the Life (with Steve Vai) 54:29 - Crosstown Traffic (with Steve Vai) 58:31 - Cult of Personality (with Steve Vai)
Corey Glover... on top of his vocal game, still... 34 years later. Wow. And not to diminish Wimbish, Calhoun or Reid. The whole band is still on top of their game. Fantastic. It is incredible that these fellas can still rock a crowd this size after so many years. I love it.
Doug Wimbish is great. I had the honor of making many basses for him back in the 80's when I worked for Spector including the one in this video. All that being said, I still miss Muzz Skillings...
Vernon Reid is the most underrated guitarist. Why is he not more well known. He is a sooooooo creative and so unique not only with his incredibly fast solos but damn his solos ain't just fast for fast freakin sake. There are very memorable and his use of pedals guitar synths and computer effects are state of the art. This man is a top 5 rock guitarist he ain't a traditionalist but fuck he is so original and he can shred with any of todays heroes
I always like Muzz Skillings better. Doug is amazing but I always feel his style doesn't quite work. Just not enough holding down the low end for my taste. I know that Doug can play that way because I've seen him play more like that live with Seal but I feel Living Colour never really gave him any restrictions and he just overplays a lot.
What a great set made even better having Vai come out…….so good. I’ve been a fan of Living Colour since I bought Vivid back in ‘88. I’ve seen them live numerous times and they remain unquestionably one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen. And what more can be said about Corey Glover that hasn’t been said already? One of the greatest vocalists to do it and unbelievably sounds as good (if not better) than he did when he was a young man.
Saw them 10 times starting in 89 with the Stones, but the 91 Time's Up show in Boston was untouchable. Corey is always good, but he was on fire that night whipping his head around with those cornrows. One of the greatest of many concerts
Great surprise! Corey's voice is at 110%! Vernon Reid still shredding like he extra fingers! What can I say about a pyle-driving rhythm section except they're tighter than ever, yet like dudes half their age! Oh, Yeah then there's that Vai fellow. Nutz! Huge Rockin' Tonight!
Fantastic set by the mighty Living Colour for a wonderful and appreciative audience. Killer guest spot by Steve Vai, great chemistry, mutual respect & admiration between this group of masterful musicians -- hope to see them jam together some more in the future!
One of my favorite bands of all time. Go see them live if you ever get a chance. I saw them in 1989 and in 2019 and both were amazing shows. They are super tight, great energy, meaningful lyrics, original creativity, and all absolutely phenomenal musicians. Seeing them live in 2019 actually changed my life for the better. LOVE Living Colour!!! Such an inspiration
Saw them 4 decades ago at Shea Stadium With the Stones when I was a teen and they sound fresh . You can see the drummer trains and takes his vitamins . Zero disappointment , MoJo in full effect .
As a band they are extraordinary. Will Calhoun is just off the scale. Seen 'em live lots over the last 30 years and they are powerfully unflinching every time.
Damn these guys sound so good. Big shout out to the guitar techs and sound mixers and of course the band for such experienced clarity with their sound after all these years
What a concert, on point. Unbelievably great musicians. It always seemed to me that they´ve been underrated for decades, they deserve way more attention and credit because they simply earned it... great dudes
I'm not formally accusing them of being time lords, but good God, they are running circles around their contemporaries from the same era & i think they'd still rule the stage compared to alot of modern rock & roll bands. Anyway, my ears are thrilled, Living Colour is somehow simultaneously trolling and spoiling us fans, thank you gentlemen!!🙏You make this life incredible
Cuando Living Colour se separó en 1995 sin que los hubiera visto en directo y siendo mi banda preferida fue muy triste. Gracias a Dios tras su reunión los he visto 3 veces en directo y siguen dando guerra!!! Que maravilla!!!!
Living Colour is amazing. I've been a fan since '88. I saw their first tour and was lucky enough to meet them all. Including the original bass player Muzz Skillings🤘🤘
So good to see Living Colour still rocking! They are still performing like they are still in their prime. And having Vai come out too? Damn, how awesome can it get??
I drove 350 miles to see Steve play in an arena in 88, with Whitesnake, and then at a clinic in 2015 where I sat and watched him from 15 feet away before having a nice chat with him. Good dude. Saw Calhoun a few years ago playing a gig with Paul Schafer's band. Kinda wild to see 'em together Steve's guitar pretty much buried Vernon's (so far) watching Rock n Roll
I saw Living Colour live three times but the last time is almost 20 years ago. I occasionally watched more recent clips on YT here and thought that they sadly lost it. Finally got too old, I thought. This show proves: far from it! So incredible. This concert is as good as the shows I saw in '93 and 2003. THANK YOU so much for posting/sharing!!!! Absolutely amazing performance (as always). Oh, and by the way, the intro music/song that Vernon is playing right before Desperate People is "Where No Man Has Gone Before", which was the theme music for the original Star Trek TV series. Thanks again!
When I first heard Living Colour in the late 80s as a budding guitar player I was blown away. Heavy, funky, groovy; there was no one else that was doing quite the same thing, Extreme was kinda similar. These guys broke some serious stereotypes and are still killer.
Good lord this band still sounds amazing. Never lost it! Corey still sounds unreal, and Vernon Reid sounds better than ever to be honest. What a fantastic player. Very nice to have Vai in the show, as well!
Thank you for posting this. This band continues to sound great. Seen them several times and loved the Times Up and Stain tours - seeing them also at the first Lollapalooza in 1991. LOVE THIS BAND, and Vai and Reid together is priceless.
This is such a godsend gift-thank you so much for this concert vid! I was watching some old footage of this band a couple of weeks ago lamenting that they were no longer playing out. Not to worry--wow, totally ecstatic to find this! And it opens with one of my favorite tunes Middle Man, I appreciate you helping me to pull of a down day with Living Colour!! Rock n Roll, as only they do it, t0 soothe the soul!
Gracias por subir esto , Es Impresionante ver a living Colour, es una de las mejores bandas desde hace 30 años , Y con Steve Vai tocando junto a ellos , es algo que nunca pense que ocurriria.
Watched this a few times and it is so insanely good. The music just feels on edge and exciting at all times, even more so that usual. Set list is terrific too and Steve Vai slots in wonderfully. Living Colour has always been brilliant but after decades they just keep getting better.
One of the most underrated bands of all time
For real! These guys wrote some incredible songs and still are amazing as individual performers!
Where do people get this idea Living Colour is “underrated”?
You realise they were all over mainstream rock radio, media and MTV between 1988-1994, right? Not to mention the sole support act for the North American leg of The Rolling Stones 1989 Steel Wheels Tour.

Living Colour is a band from the 80's! Late 80's early 90's mind you. How can Corey Glover still be singing at this level and probably even better than he was then!? Amazing!!
Well when you fought the vietcong, singing isn't that hard.
Living Colour and Corey don't do the release a full length record/CD then tour. Repeat. Repeat these last 25+ years.

60??? Really??
What's up with age again?
The talent doesn’t go away as you get older. What changes is your wanting to do it. You lose touch with the muse within.
They're men, not boys ..... ijs I saw them a few months ago at a club in Chicago, and they kicked ass !
I'm an old man aren't I
Corey Glover is still singing so well, the songs sound fresh... what a wonderful concert. They should tour together!

Living Colour... the best band out there that needs to release some more new music \m/
Best set of their's in years!!!
This was so cool!🤘🏾 great jam w Vai🔥🔥🔥🤘🏾💣👀👀Vernon was Burnin
Watched this a few times and it is so insanely good. The music just feels on edge and exciting at all times, even more so that usual. Set list is terrific too and Steve Vai slots in wonderfully. Living Colour has always been brilliant but after decades they just keep getting better.
