In England jury nullification is called a perverse verdict. One of the most famous being the Clive Ponting case - he leaked the fact that the sinking of the belgrano happened when the ship was retreating, he was prosecuted under the official secrets act and pleaded not guilty. Despite the fact that he clearly did it and there was no defence for public interest, the jury found him not guilty because they felt he’d done the right thing. ❤

They don’t pick the jurors. It’s a random pick. Voir dire means they can reject jurors after examining their background and finding a reasonable conflict of interest. Like you wouldn’t want a Ditty fan on the jury for Ditty’s hearing.
this. no one likes getting called into jury duty
yeah it isn't just straight up selection, but lawyers are known to abuse voir dire to get the jury they want (like how black jurors were rejected at an extremely high rate in the trial of Curtis flowers). if they want a certain kind of jury, they can usually find a lot of "conflicts of interest" and make this happen
Sweet summer child...
i feel like ur comment contradicts itself. whilst the jury pool is "random," the prosecution, defence and court do pick appropriate jurors so that, as u said, there isn't a conflict of interest. not hassling but confused what ur comment means?
This makes it very easy to skew the jury with 'conflicts of interest' that aren't legit. They've said already they're going to 'carefully pick' the jury. The thing about jury nullification is that it cannot be argued (brought up) to the jury by any persons at trial. Essentially, at least one juror has to know about jury nullification at all prior to being selected as a juror. Someone would need to know that nullification is within their rights as a jury to implement as long as they come to an unanimous decision. It’s rare but it has happened.
It’s also not relevant here.
It's precisely why you should spread the knowledge of jury nullification
There's a reason the justice system tries to keep it hush hush
Also never mention you know about it when you get selected, or they will just kick you off the jury under false pretense
Which basically means a massive flyering/stickering/postcard campaign is needed

Most people don't realize that pleading not guilty is standard practice in the legal system, regardless of whether you committed the crime and personally believe you will be convicted or not, especially at an arraignment, which requires no proof -- just that you have been accused of and charged with a crime. It is 1) a way to uphold the principle of "innocent until *proven* guilty," 2) a logical response to unproven charges that are not yet even held to the standard of reasonable suspicion or probable cause, and 3) the best way for your attorney(s) to mount both a legal defense and a strategy to get you a fair sentence when you either go to trial or enter a plea deal -- the latter being far more common. Pleading guilty as soon as you are accused of something is just about the worst thing you can do.

6:12 As for his prison commissary I read somewhere that because he’s getting so much money put in he’s been sharing it with other prisoners and buying things that others need 😌
I mean that could be false but if that is happening I love it
Flyers all over the place here in Austin, TX with pictures of Luigi. It's out in the IRL, prolifically so.
Gotta report on him once a week.
I am from the Netherlands and even I see him as an American hero.
You guys need more people like him.
Luigi was on overwatch with me and grinding ranked that night.
Heroes never die!
They kinda stopped putting Luigi in the news, so thanks for this
Remember how they said they found the gun and backpack in central park but when they arrested luigi he had a gun and a convenient manifesto?
Pictionary. I hurt feelings unintentionally when I play the game. And also: Free Luigi.
Wouldn't it be funny if he got absolved and went on to become a politician?
To be fair with voir dire they don’t choose the jury pool, but they are allowed to challenge inclusion of a certain number of jurors. Also technically it is illegal to dismiss your members because of their immutable qualities, race and gender etc.
In case any Americans are watching in the UK they choose juries by lottery. In Scotland in particular, they literally put names in a glass bowl and draw them out. It’s the juries who have to argue why they can’t serve the lawyers have no say.
And civilised countries have no juries at all and rather use multiple judges to get to a consensus. You know, people actually trained for the job, with decades of experience in the legal system who can decide a case, rather than a dozend people who are easily influenced and would love to be somewhere else.
Oh, and there is no vote to get a judge or attorney into office, or placing just random people just in case Dear Leader needs a bit of special treatment in the future.
thanks for the update. was beginning to wonder.
The media are too afraid to say his name or show his picture.
Love the random short tangents about how fashionable luigi is and where his sweater is from.
Also yeah if they stick him inprison forever he will be basically a martyr. It won't help them.
Honestly every time I talk to my health care providers I feel like I'm being treated like Luigi! Tell me I'm wrong!? ! You have all had that moment! 🤬
You have to remember that Luigi is someone the entire Executive branch of our government would like you to forget about, given how it *allegedly* offers a pretty direct solution to growing fascism.
THANK YOU. WE CAN'T LET THE MEDIA'S BLACKOUT OF HIM SUCCEED.
I heard he has taken up vacuuming old houses.
Mansions specifically
Scroll Deep, you are young and very healthy. I am 67 and have anti N M D A receptor encephalitis, that was only discovered in 2007 by Dr. Dumas of UPenn. There are no doctors in my state that know anything about what was killing me, so my family doctor made a plea to my insurance company to let me go see this doctor in Philly. The insurance company denied my claim by using an 80 year old retired pediatrician to deny my medical care. My brain was so swollen that parts had slough off and were in my ventricles and my nose was dripping brain fluid. I still have the condition and it is unbearable.i hope that Luigi, my hero, goes free.
The luigi effect:
When the fear of the elite makes their masks slip.
THANK YOU! This is a very important story to keep track off. Health is a universal right.
great commentary but um why did you say he should be locked up? He was doing a public service, personally I think we interrupted him too early :)
I've sat through jury selection a few times now with friends who got charges from A15 and I absolutely agree that the lawyers being able to pick the jurors is insane. The judge should excuse people who have valid reasons not to be there then they should move forward. It's wild.
Unlike the President of the United States, Luigi has yet to achieve the status of convicted felon. Funny, that!
He should be president, that supreme Court granted immunity would solve this countries white-collar crime problem overnight
Thanx, I was just thinking about that exact question, and the algorithm delivered unprompted...it´s almost uncanny...
I hope he has a great argument to convince the jury and not get convicted.
this is so hilarious to me as an outsider. man _allegedly_ ends another man that *definitely* has ended thousands if not millions, yet he's portrayed as the worst person to ever exist.
