For sure! I've always wanted to get a tattoo but I had no idea where to even start.... thanks to this channel (and a couple others) I just know so much more about how the industry works. Until I found this channel I was sure that picking a tattoo was the entire deal.
I really don't agree to be against specialization, it's really nice to be able to go to a certain artist who does special stuff and get out of this world tattoo, sometimes it's better to have one field than being all-rounder but to each their own
Marijan Kozić in every career path in the world people are expected to have a certain specialization, idk y people expect tattoo artists to be any different
Exactly, it’s same with painter back in the old day and even now... they had to specialize to be good in that style. Allrounders had less time in the craft, so there was a bigger chance they weren’t as good
I get what your saying, my tattoo artist said to me when she was doing my latest one that she'd rather not be "jack of all trades, master of none" she is a black and grey artist, she will do the odd piece with a little colour but her colleague does lots of colour work so she directs colour pieces to him.
@@kitkatbakery465 theyre not. Tattooist do specialize in one area, but for more customers you venture out. Every artist has their own style and those that dont havent developed their own style yet

I always wanted a tattoo, but was intimidated by the so-called "tattoo culture." I thought I was far too meek, too "girly", definitely not cool enough... One day I decided that, fuck it, I'm going to go into a shop I'd been researching and reading about for a year. Not only were the artists AMAZING people (super down-to-Earth, kind, nerdy!), but all the clients were awesome, too. I was scared I'd not fit the profile of who should be there, and that they'd kind of side-eye me and scoff at me even walking in the door. It was the total opposite, though. I got a small tattoo that day, but ended up going back several times to get large pieces that cover my arms (not full sleeves, exactly, but large pieces). I've since been to quite a few shops, and have found that tattoo artists are some of the best people on this planet.
Doesn't anyone think it's awesome how they refer to other tattoo artists that are interviewed on Inked? For someone that wants to go through an apprenticeship, I think it's awesome.
I've been going back and forth with this video and Instagram searching each artist they mention and checking their work out. Some of them are awe inspiring!
Justin Dale. He is based in MN but comes to FL. He did my 1/2 sleeve. He is my favorite artist I have worked with. Super talented, great artist, professional & worth every penny!!!
Dude I realllyyy wanna get tatted by Paul Booth, like it’s fully on my bucket list. He does such dark, macabre realism but then he can also create gothic and more elegant pieces. I have yet to see a tattoo of his that I don’t like. Guy has true talent 🤘🏻
I really like Autumn Dancer and Lianne Moule from this list but artists that were already on my list are: Joanna Swirska, Aga Yadou, Giena Todryk, and Katie Shocrylas. I love their playful use of color and boldness. :) ♡

Betts has it right... It's awesome to specialize though, doesn't mean you're a one trick pony but can limit you for sure and that's a good point... I think if I was going to have my old tat refreshed and get some newer work I have been thinking about I would like to talk to him about it. Betts has a solid, pragmatic take on things and i'm pretty sure he doesn't misspell.. LOL Anyway, I like everyone's work and think it's more of a community effort and less competition, I'm glad to see everyone explain their take on things. Good Video
I’m in the process of getting tattooed by him. He is incredible. Awesome guy as well. Finishing my sleeve in May and then going to get a full back piece
The artist that got me to fall in love with tattoos is Paul Booth. Second would be a little known artist out of Russia named, Grisha Maslov. His work is one of a kind and I haven't seen anyone do work like his style.
