It was so interesting to watch your review after owning it for a short time amd made me appreciate it that much more. Great review. Just bought a used 2017 Cascada. Love the car. Had a 2014 Volt with similar technology which is a bit of a negative (my 2017 Volt had the much improved Chevy My Link system, which would have been nice). However, we consolidated from the 2017 Volt and a 2007 Solstice to the Cascada to get the best of both out of a single vehicle. I more than met my goal. While the 0 to 60 May be 8+, I find the general peep of the vehicle with the turbo and 6 speed to be fine. Very happy with the Cascada!

I can easily hit 80 going up an expressway ramp. I'm not going to go into all the things I like or dislike, but I will comment on two things things mentioned more than once in the review. First, I agree with the small image of the backup camera in the rear-view mirror. The 2019s were out when I bought my 2018, but that was a deal breaker for me and my wife. Pretty much unusable, so we bought a 2018 instead which still has the camera image on the main screen. Second, I disagree with all the complaints about the cluster of buttons. Everyone knocks them, I love them. They are not complicated at all, they are mostly redundant to functions on the touch screen menus, and everyone seems to forget about two things: one, I don't like drilling down on a touch screen to find what I want while driving at 70/80 mph, and trying to touch the icons straight on so the touch is accepted. Two, when driving with the top down and the sun is out, especially shining from behind the car, I can't even see the touch screen. It's washed out. Thank goodness the buttons are there.
I own the 2019 Premium version of this car and LOVE it. My biggest pet peeve is the cup holders. You can only really use one because the other one tucks under the center console just enough to be unusable. The reason GM won't do that can be reduced to one word. "China". In that market, the name Buick is a calling card (because it used to be what American diplomats drove over there).
I didn't know this car existed until an hour ago when one parked next to me. Looked nice. Looked like a Chrysler Sebring. By 2016 people had enough of that car. But it had a 2.7 V6 that made 200hp. I've had BMW convertibles, Mercedes convertibles, Audi convertibles and my Cascada is a better made vehicle. Not a rocket ship I'd agree but my twin turbo Mk4 Supra does that job.My Cascada just goes along calmly and effortlessly. No shakes, no jolting, no squeaky noises, just a well made stylish car. When you've driven for a few hours you begin to understand the placement & functions of the console buttons. BTW you forgot to mention that the rear seats fold down to give cavernous storage/luggage space.
The gap at the side of the chair in europe is where the controls are to activate the fans inside the seats to cool you down on hot days, blowing cool air into your rear crevice o.o, since leather can get very hot. The hole on the other side of the USB port is an aux port, not a place holder. Also, the BiTurbo model has two exausts here in the UK. My main issue with this car is that busy centre console, so many buttons as you pointed out, looks very dated and can often be difficult to live with. It's interesting that the back up camera in the US is in the mirror as mine here in the UK shows on the main screen, nice and clear with markers etc. I wonder why that is different? I wonder if the US has/had the version with Sport and Tour mode as the really do affect the overal experience: Sport: The settings of the systems areadapted to a sportier driving style: ● Damping of shock absorbers reacts more stiffly to provide better contact with the roadsurface. ● The engine reacts more quickly to the accelerator pedal. ● Steering support is reduced. ● Shift points of automatictransmission occur later. ● With SPORT mode activated, the illumination of main instrumentschanges from white to red. Tour: The settings of the systems area dapted to a comfort driving style: ● Damping of shock absorbersreacts more softly. ● Accelerator pedal reacts withstandard settings. ● Steering support is in standardmode. ● Shift points of automatictransmission occur in a comfortmode. ● Illumination of main instrumentsis white. Overall, I love mine and on those few months in the UK of Sunshine you can guarantee that roof is down and the Sport button is pressed hehe.
It would be a lot more fun if it had the 3.6L. At 3,900 lbs it needs some more oomph. Time to say goodbye to the Cascada ( at least in the U.S.) Nice job Joe! 👍🏻👍🏻
Not a bad looking car. I just can’t do a convertible. I’m more of a hardtop 5% tint kind of guy. That way no one can see me and all the bad choices I’ve made during my life.
Curtis Sherwood Hey Curtis. I had an 00’ Jeep Wrangler Sport. Great vehicle with the 4.0. Kept it for seven years. I ran it with the closed in cab setup. Loved the look. Just a targa on and plastic window directly behind front seats. You gotta own one at least once. You’ll love it on those nice weather days. Some of the most fun cruising I’ve ever had.
It's a nice looking car, but I agree with all your zonks. If they were to update and give a well deserved refresh they may actually sell a lot more of these. It's a shame they won't do it.
Love your video on the Cascada. I’ve been looking for a used convertible car. I’ve looked at Beamer’s Audi Mitsubishi eclipse PT cruiser 200 Chrysler convertible. I looked at them all and this one had amazing reviews. Everybody seemed to like it on this one site that I was reviewing and, I agree with you aside from those couple little snafu’s that are so outdated with the in the middle of the council where the mileages and then all those buttons that’s what everybody resounded talked about were just too many buttons you look there and it’s just a conglomeration of Buttons, and like you said how they put silver in between or like detailed the buttons and might not have been so confusing, but somehow they could’ve break like a separation between them to even make that a little bit easier to identify what is what the one exhaust is kind of crazy as you stated I do like the features with the double tail heights that’s kind of cool but overall I think you convince me to buy the car. I just think the price point at $19,000 for 2019 with 23,000 miles might be a little high. What are your thoughts?
The interior is basically from 2009, that's why most of the infotainments feel outdated. First introduced in the Opel insignia (2008) & Opel Astra J (2019).
The dummy panel next to the usb slot is actually a 3.5mm jack connector, at least in the european version, the opel/vauxhall. Guess they thought the americans dont need it anymore
I have the OPEL Cascada in Germany since it came out in autumn 2013 and still it´s fun to drive it - not to make sport drives but to enjoy the gliding on the road, in particular smaller roads to live nature. It seems, the features are slidly diferent in the Buick. The Infotainment system in the OPEL is better then in the Buick, the reverse camera e.g. is integrated in the central Infotainment system. Also I have it with the Flex-ride System, were you can choose sport, normal and smooth, which also gives in the sport mode a faster accelaration. It seems this is not offered in the Buick. Ok, the buttons in the center look many, but they are subgrouped to Infotainment and Comfort features. Mainly I use the buttons on the steering wheel or manage Telefone or Navigación in the speach mode (Navi 900). Interesting is the space and flexibility of the rear seats. On a longer trip, even when opened there is suficient space for a leek Samsonite and smaller bags.
I have this in 2018. I love my center. Its wider and i have a huge camera for seeing the back! I actually love this car. The little area in the seat is where I keep my chapstick 😂. The only thing i wish I could do is change the red interior lights at night. Otherwise this car is bomb diggity! I feel like im 20 again!
Peugeots purchase of Opal (and subsequently Vauxhall in the UK) led the new French masters to cut production of this Buick badged but Polish built cabriolet.
@@RaitisRides your welcome .first time I seen that car was in a mall in Florida a few years ago .sharp little car joe.kinda wish Buick would do a sports type car .
Realistically all this car is, was the return of the Pontiac G6 convertible, or back-in-the-day the Chevy Cavalier convertible. Or in better terms a two door Buick Verano convertible. Which of course the Buick Verano was just a dressed up Chevy Cruze.
Seems like GM doesn’t respect their other brands other than Chevy. They always restricted the other companies like Pontiac. Can’t have a Firebird better than a Corvette.... Why not make all of your options strong options
And your grandparents will be super impressed you bought a Buick. For real though, not sure who this car is for. Another great vid, I didn't know this thing even existed.
The main point that everyone needs to understand is the fact that, anything other than the Chevy Camaro and the Corvette, GM has problems with Marketing their low-end brands, such as the Buick Cascada, Buick Regal and even the Chevy Super Sport; the latter is at the top-end of the price point. For one, GM has had a bad rep because of their quality control problems in other cars, such as the Chevy Volt, Bolt, Cruze, Impalas, their SUVs and Trucks. After-mentioned vehicles have had transmission problems out the wazoo, among other things, the government bailouts, and them laying off people, has caused many to overlook the Buick brand, because of the reputation that GM has made themselves. I've got a Buick Regal GS and I'm in love with the car and will keep it for the next 20-plus years. I like the Cascada, in the Midwest, Buick is making good sales here, I think. It's a nice piece of German Engineering that I think is underrated, because GM has not made the effort to promote the brand. That's my two cents.
I really want to like Buick but they don't have a car for me. The Regal Sportback has too many drawbacks at its pricepoint and their other cars aren't appealing to my tastes. Cascada looks really cool but I'm not a fan of convertibles. I loved the Buick Avista concept car and would have bought it if it was in my budget, but they're not releasing it. Very unfortunate.
umm, I don't know, it doesn't look bad, but don't know. I agree with all your zonks, but man.....how many buttons are on that console..Jesus!!!, Great video Joe
This is actually a halfway cool car. These are going to be strange cars like the Reata in 20 years. When these get below 10 grand I’ll buy one. They also have the rollover pop-up steel struts in the back. It’s a big thing for me. I would never buy a convertible without those.
Had one for a long weekend at the beach. The owner where I work has a house he lets employees stay at once in a while and this is the car in the garage. Fun? Sure. Ever buy one? No way.
History? I always thought Opal was a GM subsidiary in Europe. The 1960s and 70s Opal Kadette, Manta, and GTs were sold on Buick showroom floors. I remember the recession in the early 1970s made the Dollar weak so imported Opals got too expensive is the only reason Buick stopped selling them in the USA.
Please can you add that the fact that it is called the Vauxhall in the UK 🇬🇧 vauxhall cars have been around for almost 100 years or more And have been In common with general motors for years
A GM convertible like this would've sold better as a Chevy or Cadillac. There is no point for GM to have a brand that competes with dead brands like Mercury or Plymouth
@ 6:28. If I started to watch this video at 6:28 I would've thought the name of this car was the Buick Norris. I hate it when car dealers plaster their name all over the cars they sell. (I'm gonna give it a zonk)
Complaining about buttons? You would rather try to find touchscreen icons in bright sunlight? And have to find 3 of them to get through the menus to the icon you really want? And fight trying to hit the right one, and make sure you hit it hard enough/long enough, for it to register,e specially wearing gloves? Or for people with long fingernails? Buttons are great. Touchscreens are awful. Buick learned this decades ago with the Reatta.
Buick shot them selves in the foot when the first designed the car with a 4 cylinder. They should have used a 6 cylinder. That's why sales were dismal, a car that size it should pump out around 250 horse power with more updated tech.
The engine is big enough for this car. Sales were dismal due to GM marketing, for they push SUVs and trucks instead of cars. The technology is fine in this car, and it is better than a Camaro, for Camaro is uncomfortable to drive and it’s too small inside. Cascada is sweet, while Camaro can go to others. The Corvette is too expensive and rides too rough like Camaro. This Buick is much better.
I think the presenter should have done his homework better. The European version 1.6 Turbo ECOTEC 147kW / 200hp and the 2.0 CDTI ECOTEC 125kW / 170 have a double exhaust. Either the American version is a different engine, but apparently not, or it is the 1.6 Turbo 100kW / 136hp version. And this last version has the single exhaust. I drive the 200hp version.
Well, it kinda reminds me of a Toyota Solara convertible. Too much weight, too little power for me. Until today, I didn't even know this car existed! That tells me someone in the advertising dept. at Buick, dropped the ball! For me, It wouldn't have made a difference though. Don't get me wrong, I love convertibles, but having said that, the new Hot hatch design cars are whats selling like hotcakes. Probably due to movies like "Fast and Furious". No demand for this type of vehicle anymore. Buick is correct in dropping this model from their lineup. I'm still watching and droooling over that vlog you did on the Veloster 'N' model! Its not the fastest, but its priced just right for me! Keep em' comin', Joe, thanks.
The Cascada is an okay car, but not all that great. It's heavy for its size (almost two tons?!) and 🐌 slow. At least the top opens and closes gracefully. I miss the Buick of the past, like the Electra 225 and the Riviera. I know they're not coming back anytime soon, though. 😞 So off to the vintage car show I go, so I can go look at the Roadmasters, the GS's, and the Grand National Regals. The Buicks of today just don't excite me as much.

I am glad I could make you guys laugh!
old folks want everything on a button
I wonder if the US has/had the version with Sport and Tour mode as the really do affect the overal experience:
Sport:
The settings of the systems areadapted to a sportier driving style:
● Damping of shock absorbers reacts more stiffly to provide better contact with the roadsurface.
● The engine reacts more quickly to the accelerator pedal.
● Steering support is reduced.
● Shift points of automatictransmission occur later.
● With SPORT mode activated, the illumination of main instrumentschanges from white to red.
Tour:
The settings of the systems area dapted to a comfort driving style:
● Damping of shock absorbersreacts more softly.
Time to say goodbye to the Cascada ( at least in the U.S.)
Nice job Joe! 👍🏻👍🏻
AGREED! Thanks brother!
Great Review Of 2019 Buick Cascada. 😁
Not a bad looking car. I just can’t do a convertible. I’m more of a hardtop 5% tint kind of guy. That way no one can see me and all the bad choices I’ve made during my life.
I love the way that you put that! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing those thoughts!
The dealer will practically give you this car...trust me...
Oh I believe it!
@@RaitisRides Yes dealers are well known for giving way cars. They don't worry about profits they are in it to be altruistic
I loved that you said "compared to a Chevrolet" haha pretty sure my 14 Malibu came with hood struts.. 💁🏼♂️
@@ballshd6356 it does thanks
I have this in 2018. I love my center. Its wider and i have a huge camera for seeing the back! I actually love this car. The little area in the seat is where I keep my chapstick 😂. The only thing i wish I could do is change the red interior lights at night. Otherwise this car is bomb diggity! I feel like im 20 again!
Thanks for sharing that experience from your ownership!
They should have put the Regal's 2.0 turbo engine in this. That probably would get the 0-60 down to around 6.5 seconds.
Very good point!
Yes because that 8 second is sub standard, especially if we’re talking about a convertible.
Why didn’t the continue the buttons to the shifter that would have been nicer
Why didn’t they use a screen behind the steering wheel.
This is really an Astra j 2009 with the roof changed and some different suspension etc. It was one of OPELs best cars ever.
Actually not, as its bigger. Its based on the insignia (the buick regal).
@@takacszalan9400 bits of both in the cascada. 😉
Never new this car existed till now !
I am glad that I could share it with you Antonio.
$34k is not bad at all for that. Looks overall pretty good. That top comes down fast
Convertible mustang premium is 10x better in every way
Peugeots purchase of Opal (and subsequently Vauxhall in the UK) led the new French masters to cut production of this Buick badged but Polish built cabriolet.
You are so very right Andy! Thanks for watching!
MADE IN POLAND?!
It's also called the vauxhall Astra in the uk, common as muck over here!
This is not based on the astra more like the insignia but front resembles astra
Common?? There's only 2500 in the uk
Vauxhall Cascada in the UK and rare not common
Big pro, more space than a Miata
Con, just now find out this exists
Come on GM, it can all be about the Corvette....geez
I think you hit the nail on the head Eric!
Thumbs up Raiti.
Thanks brother!
The interior components from head unit to gauge cluster is all the same from my 2012 regal base, seems they cheaped out a tad there
I’m in love with this vehicle but them damn buttons instead of a screen Irks me! Way to many!
I totally agree with you!
Brittany would you ever consider buying it given it will be discontinued?
Joe they need to make you part of the design team
I really appreciate saying that! I just point out things that just make sense.
@@RaitisRides your welcome .first time I seen that car was in a mall in Florida a few years ago .sharp little car joe.kinda wish Buick would do a sports type car .
They had an amazing concept car a few years ago on the ALPHA chassis!
I like the roof closed.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one!
I have the 2019 Cascada Sport...Omg I love it...
That is so great!
Realistically all this car is, was the return of the Pontiac G6 convertible, or back-in-the-day the Chevy Cavalier convertible. Or in better terms a two door Buick Verano convertible. Which of course the Buick Verano was just a dressed up Chevy Cruze.
Thanks for your input and perspective!
My sister is getting rid of her Buick Cacada 2017...45,000 miles on it. Wants $19,000 for it. Too much money I believe BUT What do you think?
Seems like GM doesn’t respect their other brands other than Chevy. They always restricted the other companies like Pontiac. Can’t have a Firebird better than a Corvette.... Why not make all of your options strong options
Never knew this car existed so I am not going to miss it when it's gone 😊😊😊
I knew many people would say exactly that! Thanks for letting me share it with you!
I never knew it existed either but been seeing one at a dealership on my way home and it catches my eye everytime.
That center stack just exemplifies their target market for this car, older people 😂
Thank you for sharing your input and perspective! I really appreciate your support!
And your grandparents will be super impressed you bought a Buick.
For real though, not sure who this car is for. Another great vid, I didn't know this thing even existed.
I totally get what you are saying! I feel like Buick didn't even market the car what so ever.
I just researched the reviews and I’m amazed that some are calling this 200hp 200 ftlb tq in a 3900 lb car under powered. Lol
Great point!
I have a 2018 and don't see it anywhere on the road.
4:32 why ? Cost
Good question!
It is an Opel Cascada, built in Germany since 2013.
Kheireddine El-Ahdab it’s built in Poland
I thought it was Poland?
Thanks for the assist!
Right, it is built in Poland gmauthority.com/blog/2015/11/buick-cascada-production-begins-at-gms-plant-in-gliwice-poland/
Thanks for that link!
Is this a GM car or Opel? Ford truck for Mazda
Thanks for sharing your input and perspective! I really appreciate you watching!
I totally agree with you! You bring up very good points!
Seems like the perfect car for a parent to buy a daughter that just earned a full scholarship.
I can see where you are coming from!
umm, I don't know, it doesn't look bad, but don't know. I agree with all your zonks, but man.....how many buttons are on that console..Jesus!!!, Great video Joe
I totally agree with you! I feel like GM could of really done something with this car.
Just wanna know how reliable it is .
Why is Buick stop making the car anymore?
PAID 23k and price went up to 29k two weeks later.
I'm tempted to trade my 2017 Opel for a 19 plate cascada. Just love convertibles.
The dual exhaust is because here in Europe it depends on what engine you put into cascada. Some engines has one exhaust, some has two.
One doubt;
Taillights aren’t supposed to be in moving parts?
🤦🏻♂️. Answer in 14:28.
Very good point!
It's really hilarious!
This is actually a halfway cool car. These are going to be strange cars like the Reata in 20 years. When these get below 10 grand I’ll buy one. They also have the rollover pop-up steel struts in the back. It’s a big thing for me. I would never buy a convertible without those.
I love this car...my birthday is coming up and I’m really thinking about getting this car...
Shaylas Love what color? Would you settle for buying a 2019 because it will be discontinued?
Had one for a long weekend at the beach. The owner where I work has a house he lets employees stay at once in a while and this is the car in the garage. Fun? Sure. Ever buy one? No way.
History? I always thought Opal was a GM subsidiary in Europe. The 1960s and 70s Opal Kadette, Manta, and GTs were sold on Buick showroom floors. I remember the recession in the early 1970s made the Dollar weak so imported Opals got too expensive is the only reason Buick stopped selling them in the USA.
Thanks for the info Larry!
Vauxhall branded in UK where i bought mine
Please can you add that the fact that it is called the Vauxhall in the UK 🇬🇧 vauxhall cars have been around for almost 100 years or more And have been In common with general motors for years
I want one in red, I love this car 😍
It is a cool car that is about to disappear!
Is it fwd?
Yes it is Adam.
First time I gonna have to zonk Rati's Rides! Why you bringing us an Opel? Where's the 1987 IROC-Z, 1990 Daytona, 1978 Trans Am...???
Just trying to keep the variety coming! I have to track those down. Not many in my area! Don't give up on me yet!
i have a 2016 and i love it
I like the car it's a fun looking beach cruiser . Bit pricey maybe 26000$
Thanks for sharing your input and perspective! I really appreciate you watching!
A GM convertible like this would've sold better as a Chevy or Cadillac. There is no point for GM to have a brand that competes with dead brands like Mercury or Plymouth
AGREED!
Buick never competed against Plymouth.
Plymouth was a low priced car and Buick is just one step below Cadillac.
I want this Car. Same color same year 💯🔥🔥
@ 6:28. If I started to watch this video at 6:28 I would've thought the name of this car was the Buick Norris. I hate it when car dealers plaster their name all over the cars they sell. (I'm gonna give it a zonk)
They will kindly remove that, but I get what you are saying.
Nice job sir
How can I get one?
These are pretty cheap now, and only going to get cheaper. Wish the engine and audio controls were better, though.
You can buy these in the uk really cheap
2017 with low miles is about 10k
Oh I bet!
I just bought a 2015 for £5.5k in the UK
I can see some of Pontiac vibes I bought the Buick Regal Turbo I should have waited to get this car in silver
Opel in the rest of Europe excluding UK, in the UK it is the Vauxhall Cascada.
Yes just bought the uk Vauxhall 2015 version for £5.5k and sold my Merc
Vert good points!
Paddle shifters???
Nope
@@RaitisRides boo. I'm out. if i cant get a manual i at least want paddles. know what I mean? thanks!
No Paddlle shifter but, has the Slap Stick
Nice car just to many buttons on the dash and screen way to small
I think the presenter should have done his homework better. The European version 1.6 Turbo ECOTEC 147kW / 200hp and the 2.0 CDTI ECOTEC 125kW / 170 have a double exhaust. Either the American version is a different engine, but apparently not, or it is the 1.6 Turbo 100kW / 136hp version. And this last version has the single exhaust. I drive the 200hp version.
If you try to over engineer the vehicle you definitely end up with 2 tail lights! 😁
AGREED!
I think you hit the nail on the head with this car! Trust me I'm still drooling over that Veloster N video!
Omg the way you pronounced the cars name over and over again wrong omg
Thank you for sharing your input and perspective! I really appreciate you watching!
Weve got a uk spec Vauxhall Cascada...Goes suprisingly well with a 1.4 16v turbo Ecotec under the hood, despite the cars overall size and weight..
That is so cool Owen!
Same here ive got the 2015 version
I think it is worth saving!
It really could be a great car with just a little update!
This car is based on the Opel/Vauxhall Astra launched here in Europe 10 years ago. It feels very dated these days.
Thanks for sharing your input and perspective! I really appreciate you watching!
I like it good looking car
frank costello I’m so glad I could share it with you!
Raiti's Rides tell Frank to get a Shepard dog and a stick....lol
You are hilarious!
GM Should Of Slap A V8 RWD Make Limited Run And Called IT The Grand Cascada Like Reviving The Grand National Name
This car is the "tell me ur a 50year old fresh out of the divorce and use to own a Sebring" kind of car.
Im a 73 year old single fun guy and just sold my merc coupe for one, more fun!!
This is giving me chrysler sebring vibes if anything else although I liked the early sebring convertibles styling much better than this.
I felt that the same as well.
Thank you for sharing your input and perspective. I really appreciate you watching!
