What I was concerned about but couldn't do - maintain the house with the whole family.

  • Good evening.
Thank you for watching my video.
Thank you also for your warm comments!
Every time I read your comments, I will send a nod, a smile, or a heart full of joy, as if I am talking to a long-time friend.
Since yesterday, the temperatures have been rising and spring is finally starting to take hold.
This week's video is a story about a day when it was still cold and the whole family was working together to put up shoji screens. We introduce the traditional Japanese house partition, the shoji, and how to maintain it.
Shoji screens are partitions made of wood and paper, which are few and far between in Japan today. As a blocker of sunlight.
I will send it as a curtain to block out the sunlight. Since they are made of paper, they can tear easily if you are not careful. Therefore, in the old days, the paper was replaced and renewed once a year at the time of year-end cleaning.
As you have probably noticed, the shoji screens in our house were full of holes. I don't think they had been replaced for more than 15 years.
When we moved here, we finally decided to replace them. I felt sorry for my mother, who always kept them clean.
From now on, I will replace the shoji screens with a fresh start!
