My requirement is to use MFA for external guests instead of One-time code, which is the default method for SharePoint. I have created a CAP to require guests for MFA. However, if we only share files directly with the external user, the guest account will not be created automatically. Any suggestion?
It all comes down to how your organisations wants to handle guest management/external sharing. You could set up SharePoint sharing for New and existing guests only or existing guests only. You can also look into how the guests are created within your tenancy by reviewing external collaboration settings in ENTRA ID.
Users can only add external users if external sharing is allowed. But that’s the nature of the product that it also create guest accounts. Some sort of governance/policies needs to be defined for the guest user left-cycle.
