Laser Sniper MW5 Preorder Marauder MAD-9M - Mechwarrior Online The Daily Dose

- The MW5 Preorder Marauder MAD-9M has an interesting quirk: It can fire 4 ER Large Lasers without a heat penalty. While I think that missile builds are better on this Inner Sphere Heavy Mech it is quite interesting to play it as a long range sniper. The low mounts are a little bit of a problem but your ECM helps you getting into good positions unseen.

HOLY EFFING ESSS! That first game!?!?!?!?!?! I don't think I've ever seen a weirder cluster eff than that, HAHA! WHAT A GAME! I cheered when Bara killed the Ferret and almost had a heart attack when blue won!
Side note: It only looks like the Timby had bad aim. Please remember that what the spectator sees is completely different than what the pilot sees due to lag and client side. Just watch the Timby reticle turn red when it is no where close to the Assassin. Timby hit A LOT of their shots! GG!
The end of that first match needed "Yakety Sax" (or the "Benny Hill Theme" as some know it) playing over it.
That first game is why melee weapons, or splash damage from self destructing should be a thing. Hell, even letting the pilot eject and throw rocks would be good.
Target Priority. I was shouting "Kill the Marauder first!" so many times when it was 6 vs 6 or so, seeing your constant laser burns. They just would not listen and you had so much impact on the game still. That was a game to remember.
Video uploaded today. Comment is from 3 days ago. Nice job UA-cam!
It's OK. I support via Patreon and get early access ;-)
I was the enemy Blood Asp pilot in that first game. To give a little perspective, we were more focused on just how much armor the Timber Wolf had left when it was 10-10 and the fact that some of our teammates wouldn't back off and let the Assassin pilot get clean shots at him when it was obvious that the Assassin was our last hope. Still, it was a helluva game and lots of fun to rewatch. GG!
The going for structure thing caught my interest in this video, don't know why. So I decided to math it out for CT, ST, and Arms, assuming you have 3 points of armor in the rear of your CT and STs. This is in a vacuum so for easy numbers I decided on a perfect 10 armor nodes vs a perfect 10 structure nodes.
Base Armor (CT/ST/A): 89/61/48
Skilled Armor: 102.35/70.15/55.2
Armor Skill Gains: 13.35/9.15/7.2
Base Structure (inc quirks): 58/40/30
Skilled Structure: 75.4/52/39
Structure Skill Gains: 17.4/12/9
So the structure nodes at max give you an extra 4 HP CT, 2-3 depending on how generous rounding is on the ST, and 1-2 on the arms. I think I'd much rather have 13 extra CT armor than 17 CT structure, considering the crit protection and simply that being open paints a giant target on you.
Granted, you never get all 10 nodes unless you hit both sides of the tree anyway, and you pick up some of the other along the way also, so the results would be even less dramatic.
TL:DR - Unless you have absolutely MASSIVE structure quirks, I think it's armor side over structure.
Something I love about this game is all of the battle damage. A bunch of crippled mechs is hilarious, too.
Love it when the UA-cam makes old videos pop up. I consume way too much barad content
The end of the first match was a gem. So many mechs with no weapons trying think to get the attention of the few with lazers XD
I especially love when the catapult and night gyr tried to body you
Looks like the timber Wolf was playing is first ever match
With joystick...
That first game was epic!
Potato warrior online. That first match just gave me an aneurysm.
I got motion sickness from all the spinning around the center :D
Potatoes don't know what arm lock is... omg that Mad Cat.
That kid in the timberwolf must've been a new player, i bet he was on the edge of his seat, guve him a medal. Because i did cheer when he killed that assassin
The DmgFarming was Deserved :D
OMG that first game! 🤩
Whether by chance or deliberately, the enemy team surrounded you and acted as barriers the ferret and the assassin could use.
only 85 days till episode 1000. have any plans, Baradul?
That was one of the most ridiculous games I have ever seen, that first match. What?!?!?
I literally felt enormous amount of pain watching this Timber Wolfs aim skills...
He had arm lock on the whole time even though his lasers and UAC were on his arms, very unfortunate.
There is lag between what you see and what the other player do. At the end his aim was on point.
it almost looked like he was playing with HOTAS
Yeah, the lag drives me crazy.
On another note, this highlights the importance of some sort of backup weapon to LRMs...
That first game... Not only was the Timber Wolf wasting time with a stick-mode target, he had arm lock on a LRM boat. Missile locks could have been easier and the SPLs could have been more effective without arm lock.
If you switch to endo, drop light ferro to standard, and drop the targeting computer and med laser you can get up to a 325 rated engine and keep the same # of heat sinks with 0 extra slots - I like going a bit faster to get in position
Anyone else notice it was the same ice ferret in both games?
Wow. First match was cool
That first game was insane lol. Nothing went your way, still GG. Peace and love to all naaa a PPC to the face, lol.
that first game was insane!! XD
Damn what a first Game :D
Baradul, mind posting what video settings you are using in MWO? (environment, particles etc)
Why tho?
Marauders forever! 💖
Hahaha the first game was great!
I would like to give you the challenge of using a light ppc build.
OR
Any build that can get you a score of 999 or higher.
BTW if you don't know how to use it... Map your advanced zoom to your mouse wheel. Toggles on with a thought.
End of the second game paused with a holy beam of light glinting off of that uziel?
I love this mech! I run it with MRM 80. Might have to try this build out though.
Can you recommend a good medium mech for ecm and MRMs?
The Hellspawn is actually very fun to play: ua-cam.com/video/YOmVNg-z6zA/v-deo.html
Er will dich einfach platt machen(7:12), bist zu Prominent, ich hab das auch schon versucht. ;)
Stealth armor or go home! My unit does lots of stealth armor.
Has ECM to hide from enemy. Mech is painted bright red in a white environment...
Shout out to axeviper, who can kill guys without even looking.
I tried it too, with a similar build, and HATED it. It's so hot, so so so so fucking hot.
The quirk is stupid. It should have been normal large lasers.
Still, derpy builds like this make me so sad mw5 won't have a Lachlan...
I used to run a 4 LL build on one of the other Marauders and or some time I liked that build a lot.
while at times it might look like "kill the streamer " when you see that kind of behavior , But if there like me i will like to go after threats i know and prioritize them , thats kinda the price of such a Niche game Community
Man what did you do. Every light after you.
I want to see this build with the rockets.
That cry for help almost lost your team the game....half your team came running leaving the other half to get slaughtered. Great job by that light mech going after the one person he knew would get the whole team to overreact.
Good gracious, that TBR with small pulses in the arms ...and Arm-lock on xD that was painful to watch (but exciting!)
what's the point to carry hit and run\sniping weapons that low?
I just wanted to try the quirks of that Mech.
Hunh, taking the ghost heat for the 4th erll. Nice, me likey
The most painful match to watch ever.
The first game was some Adrian Pryde level shit 👍
Axeviper needs to learn what arm lock is...
The Timby driver on polar was sooo terrible.
Tier 1 Timber Wolf gameplay everyone.
That should read: Why don’t you invest in advanced zoom? 4 skill points to get there and it is amplified by your targeting computer.... Instead of shooting at a mech at 900 meters, you can shoot at his arm... Maybe you rely on pre- Civil war tech?
Made a request months ago and I keep repeating it, had you on stream say you'll look at it... nothing... at this point I don't even think you'll do it, I'm just posting because I am disappointed in you for keeping zero comms and coming through in any way. I enjoy your content and its reliability but I am really salty at this point.
