I remember that date! I moved to Hattiesburg that year from my country El Salvador, and I never saw a tornado in my life. I saw it in my window, in front of my house, unbelievable! This tornado destroyed houses a few blocks of my neighborhood. I will never forget that experience.

Mr.Continue was very annoying and possibly more interested in getting the shot than safety,because I thought they were getting way too close to that monster,especially when you have debris flying all over the place,at that point they should have started backing off,Michael I think was much more cautious and you need someone like that to keep Mr.Continue in check,think the driver must have been new.
The commentary is as entertaining as the video. Michael's commentary is cracking me up.

It must be quite a thing to be in such close proximity to that much destruction and the noise of the tornado.
EF-4, but only for a bit in the beginning stages. The rest of the video, it varies from EF-1 to EF-3 intensity.

Everytime I watch this I'm like if the dude wanted to pilot then just drive not be a passenger seat driver . If I was driving and tells me continue or to slow down I wouldve back handed for that ridiculousness .and Michael, pooooorr Michael was screaming for his liiiiiiifffeeee . I guess Michael never went for another chase -- heee, hee, heee. Hey Michael, tornadoes don't "back-up", they go forward the whole time, only shifting in left or right directions. Most tornadoes, in fact all that I have seen run from west to east and just before they quit, they make a sharp left and head north, then die. If you're in a tornado's path and you think you might get hit, always go south because that tornado is guaranteed to head north at some point.
Never say always. I realize this comment is old but I just wanted to point out that the El Reno tornado in 2013 started out going south, then straight east. It did make a curve to the left eventually, but right before it dissipated it actually straightened out and went east again. Several storm chasers were caught in this tornado because they were following this same logic and made their escape attempts to the south at the same time the tornado was going south or east. This is how they ended up crossing its path instead of avoiding it.
butterflytigress1985 Yeah, that's true, that's why the El Reno tornado is referred to as "the one that broke all the rules". Everybody was south of it, on an east/west road, and some of waited until they had 30 seconds to escape! That one moving south threw everyone off, and then changing course again after reaching a record size was even more puzzling. The monster size tornadoes are usually a mile wide, but it was 2.6 miles wide!

I’ll keep praying 🙏 that we never get hit directly but last year one got my sons trampoline in our back yard n that thing looked like someone balled it up in their hands n crumbled it up.. we still haven’t bought another one ☝️ yet lol... anyways Stay safe Mississippi & Everyone eles peace ✌🏽
I actually felt sorry for the driver. I could not have put up with that annoying backseat driver especially in such a high risk situation.
