Procalcitonin is a marker for bacterial infection and sepsis
It increased during systemic bacterial infection and inflammations.
Used to distinguish between bacterial and non-bacterial condition. So that it is helpful to diagnose sepsis
normal value of PCT is up to 0.15ng per mL
this test done on serum, or plasma by Elisa or immunoturbidimetry
