Varga is way ahead of the competition in terms of technique and cardio
He's got that mindset too. His youtube channel was one of the first I subscribed to after I started training in Muay Thai. Just a real straight shooter and knowledgeable as heck
I agree and it will evolve the sport some more
also in terms of sticking to his game plan. completely overwhelmed Assis with volume and forward pressure
Let’s see how he does it against Edgars, an interesting fight
The guy is a Cold machine. He fight with smarts, so his technique and cardio isn't wasted.
This fight is a pleasure to watch, Varga's volume and precision is astounding. Assis is a tough opponent, a weaker fighter would have fallen mid-fight.
Varga is a known champion, no doubt, and it was awesome to see him fighting. Great cardio, consistency and power output. On top of all, a very humble man.
I think this was a very beneficial fight to Bruno too, because he has just started his journey, and he showed once more what a great warrior he is.
#Brazil 🔥
Totally agree on this, win-win
Most importantly, Bruno learn how to be a better fighter. He should participate for kickboxing tournaments where more competitions and techniques are available.
@@i_amscarface_the_legend9744 I agree!
Soon as Varga gets used to the ruleset he will be unstoppable. I’ve been waiting for someone like him to make the transition since this started.
He will be the catalyst to make these karate fighters improve their hands.
Nice boxing skills from varga and lovely head movement. Was a good match
Karate Combat is the Future 🔥
He said in a video that learning how to box is what takes you to the next level in kickboxing, he showed it in that fight
I’ve been on Team Varga for a good long time now. Very happy to see him make a great debut in KC. Assis is a fierce competitor no doubt; But Vargas accuracy and volume all the way to the closing bell made all the difference in this one.
Great to see Karate Combat with quality martial artists. I thought Bruno had an excellent first round. Huge Vargas fan being a Canadian. Excellent body work and his pace in the third round combined with his focus on mixing up the leg kicks was exciting to watch! Huge fan here Karate Combat!!!
I was excited when Varga announced he'd be participating in Karate Combat. Glad to finally see him in action under the ruleset.
Imagine he would go over to ONE FC!!!The competition there is way higher
I appreciate how Bruno was able to keep a smile on his face throughout the whole thing
Bruno Assis: "I'm goign to try and finish this early."
Bas:"Oof. Good luck with that." 😅
Assis isn't a bad fighter, but this fight shows that like a lot of more "traditional" martial arts practioners, he clearly has a HUGE lack of experience when it comes to dealing with boxers. Gabriel tamed and schooled him the entire fight.
i cant wait to see vargas next figt in kc cuz i think the only thing he was off with was getting used to guarding with smaller gloves. But i think he adapted as the fight went on and knowing him he will tweak his game plan even further now that he has experienced it
but yeah his sparring and fighting experience is just on anoher level this man lives for kickboxing lol
I would say Assis held his ground retty damn good, i do not disagree withe the decision but i would say it must have been a really tough decision
Varga is the Man! Best fighter on the roster by a margin.
Agreed! These point fighters are awkward but very dangerous
Great performance by Varga.
I just love to see that level of respect between fighters, it's so heartwarming to watch
This was amazing to watch! I enjoy seeing Gabriel fight and love his UA-cam channel full of awesome striking tips and workouts!
Incredibly well matched fight!
Great fight. Beautiful technique from Varga and Bruno.
Beautiful fight
Lots of respect for each other, so emotional for me.
Epic debut
One Varga gets some legit grappling training he's going to be unstoppable. He's already a phenomenal technician.
He's had a fair amount, but stated he did not practice for throws at all for this fight, which was interesting.
But he's a multiple world champion, I"m just a nobody :P
@@SlayerofFiction interesting. He might have to get a different fight camp and training partners for future fights.
@@shinomori69 Varga has six world titles, Pretty sure he knows what he's doing.
@@SlayerofFiction in kickboxing undoubtedly, he's I've of my favorite fighters and I was certain he's win (he breast Lerdsila fer crying out loud!). But Asis only had success grappling and that's not a skillset that Varga usually has to train. Noting that he might need to find a grappling partner isn't controversial or insulting.
@@shinomori69 You know nothing about him, he explains on his channel how he prepared and what he will do in the future, no further conversation is needed.
Have a nice day
Best fight of the night. Props for Bruno taking the fight.
When a Savage meets a technician. Great power by Bruno, great technique by Varga nad great respect for both fighters❤
Very entertaining fight, great technique and heart from both Bruno and Gabriel! Bravo!
INCROYABLE
que buena pelea, una de las mejores que he visto en esta compañia
Glad to see someone who can throw proper hooks. Welcome Mr Varga. Also this venue and setting is so fucking cool.
This fight was quality!
Love how Karate Combat always have legendary commentator like GSP, Wonderboy🎉
Gabriel's a beast. And his yt channel is a goldmine for kickboxing
Varga was just lazer focused all fight, that's what it takes.
This was so entertaining, it was a lot like a kickboxing match xP
Varga is too good for Karate Combat! Great performance
Varga by superior boxing! And the best moment of Bruno was that judo throw, sorry to the karate purists but that's the truth
They have throws in karate...
Yes it is sad because their best guys just fight like anyone else. The ones who do fight like point karate guys are pretty meh. My hope for this organization was to see a bunch of mini Machidas, but instead it is just a low tier kickboxing organization lol. Like Lyoto uses more point karate techniques than these guys do in the highest level of mma whats up with that.
@@joshuabrant3487 i agree on some level but i dont mind it as just another kickboxing promotion. After all karate is technically a kind of kickboxing. I would like to see more ridge hands, non-spinning hammer fists and backfists and other cool karate shit that you dont see being used in full contact combat sports. Like theoretically why cant you do a normal karate chop but with a closed fist making it a hammer fist? could work to the temple or the body maybe. Ive done this kind of stuff on the heavy bag but never in sparring so far so idk if its feasible
@@pilot.wav_theory Japanese Kickboxing came from the mix of karate+muay thai and then incorporated some boxing as well. So people complaining that this looks like Kickboxing...they probably expect a Cobra Kai style of choreography instead of fighting
@@pilot.wav_theory Check out a video called "Full Contact Karate in Early MMA" if you want to see the rest of Karate stuff used in a full contact sport. Another video example is a video titled "Lyoto Machida - Karate Throws, Trips, Sweeps & Takedowns in MMA" and it is explained by a grappling expert in MMA.
This is a high level kickboxing fight .
Gabe is the best fighter out of all the fighters you have.
Easily
out of the ones ive seen i agree. this fight wasnt a total landslide tho it was a good match Assis put up a great fight to be fair. I was lowkey expecting Varga to just walk thru whoever they put in front of him lol maybe hes rusty or maybe the competition is just that good
@@pilot.wav_theory well if you expected Gabriel to walk out and just whoop him after two year lay off. You bat 💩 crazy. Not to mention it's a whole different discipline than Gabriel has ever fought in before. And Gabriel learned pretty quick. There's a huge difference between a ring for kickboxing and the cage for MMA and the pit for karate combat. Each one is different and you have to be ready for different things. He did exceptionally well considering he has not been in an actual fight in 2 years. And not to mention Gabe was breaking him down the whole time. It was only a matter of time before Varga got the knockout. Wasn't his perfect fight? no ! But even Gabriel has said that on his UA-cam show before this happened. That he was afraid of being a little rusty.
@@matthew-jy5jp thats fair. i guess i just havent been impressed with alot of the point style guys they bring in. But Assis seemed to have solid kickboxing experience as well. I think if they put Varga up against of one of the point fight style guys it may have been less close
@@pilot.wav_theory i think that too, it was probably the new rules, it would take him some time to get used to these rules,
IMO Gabriel Varga is the best addition to KC roster ever
With his Elite background he's gonna put everyone to the test
Varga is a k1 and Bellator champion
Varga is awesome, and there's no surprise to him winning. I had fun watching Bruno, though. I'll definitely be looking to see him again. That kid has some freakish strength for his size.
Varga's boxing was awsome in this fight!
Here to support the homie Gabriel Varga🥊
Karate fighters have to do something to deal with mid range boxing. Their punches are hard but sloppy.
Assis is tough, but Gabriel is on another level. You can learn even by just watching his fight.
Varga has better boxing than most of the other fighters, I think
What a good fight, I'm going to congratulate Bruno my compatriot for fighting well against Gabriel, a fighter of the highest level, a great champion!
En España no hay esa competicion??
Woooo Gabriel Varga 🙏💪
There is something different in his style of high guard in small gloves. Few people does it so well. His protection is really good.
Congratulations gabriel hard luck bruno good fight
Gabriel is a BEAST! Go check out his UA-cam page! Great stuff!
3:50 His brother made the trip from Vancouver Ireland????
My guy
I've been following Varga for years. Bruno can hold his head up high it was very close.
WAAARRRR VARGA!!!! 🏆
That harai goshi straight to a punch to the face was great. Bruno should have leaned into his grappling !
Varga nice kickboxing style
👏👏👏
The first round Was Very Impressive both of these Athletes Landed Perfect Shots 👍🏿⭐️👍🏿⭐️👍🏿⭐️👍🏿⭐️🙏🏿👍🏿⭐️👍🏿⭐️👍🏿⭐️
How come the fighters put mouth guard in for winner announcement?
Vargas boxing won it.
Congratulations Gabriel Varga!!! 😁💯🥊🥋
It's pure kickboxing in a new format, that's why it's exciting to me ateast...no shotokan ballet dancers from last olympics here lol
I like it too. At first I wasn’t sure I’d care much for the rule set and how different it is. I definitely like the pit and how big it is with the angled sides. That is a neat dynamic. I love good thigh kicks, not sure the calf kick only thing speaks to my tastes, but I do like it a lot. Also enjoy One’s 4oz Muay Thai stuff in the cage. 👍🏻🥊
"It's pure kickboxing in a new format'.
Karate Combat includes throws and takedowns as well as ground and ground. Those things are illegal in kickboxing. Bruno Assis clearly used a throwing technique against Gabriel Varga and then pounded him in the ground in that clip. So why didn't you mention that part?
@@combatsportsarchive7632 sorry bro I meant it's watered down MMA, but nice I like it
@@OverSooll No problem. As a regular viewer of kickboxing, that comparison karate combat and kickboxing is just as bogus as the casual comparison between Judo and high level BJJ.
@@OverSooll ua-cam.com/video/OVlwPOGJz5Y/v-deo.html
Have they changed the rules at all yet?
I don't see why they didn't allow knees and elbows to the body as that is even allowed in kyokushin.
Assis was all heart. A great fighter. It's just that his level 7 is against Varga's level Legend right now
🥊
Marc Goddard looking like he's ready for a Mike Bisping fight in mother England
🇧🇷👍🏽1
So dope. Go Varga!
i don't see any lightweight who can stop varga cso
Brasilian champion is too much for him, for sure.
Victor Rocha and Edgars Skrivers
@@lamblias6od Luiz
@Adnan Arnautovic Victor is his name, too
Varga is by far the superior striker, but there are still some gaps in the karate skills
@@stanclark3992 But he is a 4th dan in Shotokan Karate after all. You're right that his fighting is kickboxing style
Dude this was a great fight better than what i see in the UFC in terms of striking almost as good as One Championship MT but guys on that roster are just next level, i don't understand it though Varga's is a kickboxer / Nak Muay fighter whats he doing on here is he a student of Karate as well? ... There's clear muay thai dominate approach being put on display by Varga's and Bruno's throwing judo moves in there so i'm confused because you're calling this Karate combat ... this looks like cage fighting without the grappling at this point which regardless is still wildly entertaining especially with how the ring is setup and the talent you guys are pulling in, but evidently there's more than just karate going on here ... Congrats to Varga's that dudes got the fire in him and an engine, great boxing fundamentals from him as well, that leg sweep from Bruno though was clean asf ...
varga probably barely qualifies as a karateka coz he took shotokan as a kid . His style is that kickboxing/muay thai style but meh the rules can't enforce a fighting aesthetic to be a certain style. at the end of the day dude just wants a new challenge in a new organization and a paycheck. It's incredibly hard to enforce rules to bring out a certain aesthetic/fight style.
Why is it not legal to kick above the knee? Is that a rule in traditional karate competitions?
Guys need to make better use of the wall. Nothing stopping them from just shoving their opponent into it & immediately pouncing while they can't defend themselves.
Aghayev vs Varga is the real deal
Different weight
Is that marc goddard?
Varga getting the strap soon
Didn't know that judo throws are legal 😅
Varga could have done much more from his past fights I have seen Varga could have destroyed Assis - I believe his volume and and checks were off!
Very good fight! . But Asiss Win..
Harai Goshi my ass - but they are just striking commentators, so be it.
Karate Looks Like a normal Kickboxfight😆
no it's just his opponent Assis is the type of fighter who likes to stay in Kickboxing range even with a fighter like Varga.
the Champion of Varga's division's fighting style is like a mix between Lyoto Machida and Patricio Pitbulls fighting style. Something Varga has never fought before.
Well duh, kickboxing was based on karate + western boxing
do you know where kickboxing came from? kickboxing looks like karate
@@Limemill no. That's american kickboxing.
Japanese kickboxing (+dutch kickboxing) initially came from Karate + Muay Thai and later incorporated boxing
Karate combat is so nice to watch like muay thai, but not with elbows. Nope fucking ground and pound
This has nothing to do with Karate tho.., just as WWE had nothing to do with actually wrestling. At least this is for real, I guess..
KC has some of the whackest rules. Allow knees and kicks to quads!
this is just mma fighting
The rules of Karate Combat are based on the old rules of karate with elements of modern kickboxing and MMA. So you're not right or wrong.
@@matthewwalters6261 so is there no ground game or submission?
@@Dmoney9768_ no. They get 5 seconds on the ground before it gets stood up.
No elbows, no knees, no grappling while on the ground.
Mma has all of this
Great fight. Both looked weak on the cardio side.
This isn't karate
I think bruno won that fight tbh
Definitely not, but he did have some great moments. It was a great fight.
I think if Bruno had more cardio he could have been more effective, he is really powerful, it was a great fight nevertheless but varga is simply much more technical.
I believe so as well
How? The only meaningful offence he had were those two takedowns and some ground and pound. He wasn't landing anything meaningful on feet, Varga outstruck him heavily.
@@robcio150 He landed some significant kicks too. That being said Varga 100% won imo
