Thanks Cindy, we really appreciate you watching the videos 😊 I honestly reckon anyone who thinks they would like this should make a plan and make it happen. I think it’s possible to live on less on the road than it is at home
Great job on the budget breakdown , ❤ Your videos can really see the effort that has gone into them and the hours spent behind the camera and in front of the laptop . Awesome job, guys. Very well done . 👍👌🤙
Just found your channel. We have a jayco poptop. We have talked about getting a full size van when we do the lap. But we think we will keep our jayco as we have no probs with it. Our motto when caravanning is everyone is seeing the same sights. Whether you have a tent, camper trailer, poptop or a big flash caravan.
@@lynschostakowski8819 thanks for watching! And 100%. I reckon if you are happy with spending a solid amount of time in it, then you will be happy doing a lap in it! When are you planning to do the lap?

Your expression of gratitude is wonderful, and certainly something we should all reflect on more. Also appreciate the story you have shared in Caleb's short film.
Thanks legend! Stoked you enjoyed it and our outlook, definitely something we really try to follow. Thanks also for checking out Caleb’s video, he is an amazing film maker!

Mate thanks so much for checking out the video and taking the time to leave a nice comment, it’s massively appreciated! Hope you have a great Christmas!
Great you are living within your budget. More videos like yours gives potential to enable families to hit the road, even for a short time. DOG BEDS: Do your dogs chew their beds, or do the beds get dirty? For our 5kg dachshund, i put a pillow protector and pillow slips. When dirty just an easy clean of the pillow slip. Keep a couple of cheap pillowslips as spares.
Thanks so much, that’s definitely our aim. With dog beds, our main issue has been getting really dirty, beyond washing. Or main mistake was we didn’t really plan that out before we left and we went through a few sets of cheap ones. The new ones seem to be holding up much better, they just take up a bit of space. Ours used to love sleeping on pillows at home, that was something we were considering doing again. We were after something waterproof for the newest beds, as they seem to get wet a fair bit even through we try to avoid it later in the day
@ we are just leaving Exmouth today, got to be down Bunbury way in a few weeks, so just going to head down from here stopping at a few places on the way
Thanks for sharing your budget. For a family of 4 with dog/s, your $700ish a month is good. Our tip is travel slow, enjoy the simple life and safe travels.
Thanks so much for watching, glad you enjoyed it! We definitely try to travel as slow as possible around commitments. There’s definitely an adjustment period with getting your head around this when you first hit the road, it’s easy to just went to keep moving all the time.
Great vid guys ! Thanks for sharing , your budget is pretty good . We have just done 6 mths up the north of WA NT SA. And sit around 5,000 a month for 2 adults . We did have a 10,000 month but had repairs . Wether you have an expensive van or not things come loose ! It suits you and that all that matters . Don't get caught up in whole "keep up with the jones" scenario! Stay safe and enjoy 🎉
Legends, thanks so much for checking out the video and taking the time to comment. It’s really appreciated! That would have been terrible to cop that $10k month, but it’s something that can easily happen doing this stuff. Do you guys have plans to hit the road again soon?
Haha it see you really did go back! It’s been along time since I’ve seen those videos. Thanks so much for checking out the videos legend! Really appreciated
I'm so glad im not the only one blowing groceries out the water hahah. We spent $20k on a years worth of organic and grass fed/finished products... you can't put a price on private health 😉
Good on you for getting out there. This would be more interesting if you also shared what your fuel costs clothing costs etc where before hitting the road. We are lucky enough to be retired & can head out for a couple of months then home again. So the perfect mix. We also have a pop top Jayco & we love it. It's not about the van it's about the destination. 😊 And you are right the people in the 300k set up don't see anything you don't.
@@fsparkman3343 100% mate! Thanks so much for checking it out and taking the time to comment. We could have included that stuff, but didn’t think anyone would be too interested in what our costs were before travelling. As we said in the video but, our groceries are slightly less, mainly due to lack of choice. Fuel is significantly higher now, we didn’t do a hell off a lot of driving back at home. I’m guessing clothing etc would be a lot less now as well due to lack of opportunity to buy/ trying to limit purchases to necessities only
Hey guys , good video , just thought ld comment on your troopy servicing schedule , lm guessing you’re just doing the standard servicing , but you need to do more often oil / filter changing intervals when towing etc or your troopy won’t last anywhere near as long as it should , in extreme cases you can do major damage …..also engine air filter elements need more frequent replacement too Good luck with your journey guys !
Mate thanks heaps for watching and the advice. Any advice is always massively appreciated! I’m carrying spare filters etc, so have been changing when needed and also oil inbetween service
@RoamingCoastlines no worries guys , l was concerned you were just topping it up ( which means your using oil which can be a sign of sheared ( buggered ) oil ) Good luck 👍
Definitely appreciate it mate! Would be devastating to have something happen to the Troopy! Hardest part on the road is finding somewhere to do a full oil change
Sadly SM & slick marteting has conned people into believing they need to spend (financed mostly) serious cash on a new & very heavy/very tall so called offroad van that is a wind drag & sea anchor hauled by a very expensive new 4wd. Ok if your retired & cashed up but most younger generation are not. We have travelled Aus extensively in our Prado 120 V6 & Coromal Seka 535 poptop which is light. I can't see the point of hauling 3t or more vans that are just way too heavy & too tall to go offroad. Your van looks just fine to me
It's the unplanned breakages that rattle the budget and trip plan. When you have a van or vehicle component failure it is unplanned costs and you have extra expenses of accommodation being parked up while you are waiting for repairs. We found once we hit the NT top end (Aug - end Nov) it was too hot not to have air con so we ended up doing mostly caravan parks.
100% mate! It’s quite easy to plan out the normal stuff. Always scary thought about the more serious breakages happening. Thanks so much for watching mate!
Eecently stumbled on your channel 😍 We have sausage dog who now loves to travel with us in our aframe caravan so space is precious. I am very interested to know what dog bed you have found works best?
Thanks for watching our channel, it’s massively appreciated! The bed we got was from a discount chain store they have in Western Australia called Red Dot, it was around $40
Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to leave us a nice comment Susan, massively appreciated. The van is 18ft and it’s actually pretty good with dust. Get a tiny bit in the cupboards sometimes, but that’s about it. No notable amounts around the rest of the van. Before we left I got under the van and filled any light gaps with silicon and we also put upgraded seals on the tunnel boots

Honestly from what I’ve learnt on the road, the most important one to not want to do anything to is the van, that’s where you spend most of your time. I wouldn’t stress too much about getting every single thing done to the car, just what’s necessary. I reckon one thing I wish I did get was some proper layered window shades, it’s so bloody hot over here and I think they would make a great difference
@ yeah nice! I just still need some essentials done but I’ve still got 4-5 months to chip away. If I have to get some things done during the trip I can do that I spose too. @@craigpatten8349 we found these current beds in a discount changing called “red dot” when we were in Karratha.
