Johnny Lyall's claret and blue army...what a man he was RIP John.
Wardy, one of my all time favs.
TC, Franky Mac and Wardy...all on the smaller side but what a trio they were

I remember meeting Mark at Chadwell Heath one Sunday morning. I was having treatment with Rob Jenkins for a groin issue and the walking wounded from the previous day's home game came in for treatment. Couldn't believe how battered his feet were. He was a cracking player who regularly got fouled and kicked.

Great timing this as I am currently re-reading his book. Someone bought it for me years ago when it came out and I haven't read it since. It's a good read just because Mark has so many stories to tell and it's great to hear him speak, especially about West Ham.

Another great episode of Iron Cast with some amazing stories and it's great to hear about the good times in the 80s for young fans like me who don't know much about it so thank you admin, Chris and James, fantastic work!
Now we MUST get Julian Dicks on so we can hear HIS side of the burning Wardy with an iron story 😂😂

I have got to say that this was a top interview and can’t believe what happened was so normal for West Ham.Dicksy and the iron was …..can you imagine if that incident happened in today’s game?.Marks story was a real eye opener and well done to all for sharing.

I was Mark Wards Accountant when he was at West Ham, and am now retired. I used to complain that he took out the opposition, to then get sent off. He commented that, because he was smaller, they would always target him, so he got in first. I had fond memories of those days. By even more coincidence, his wife taught at the same school as my wife. Good to see you again Mark on such good spirits. You were very missed when you left West Ham.

Pity you weren't his accountant when he got jailed for being part of a drug dealing gang.

@@bigbernie7260 By then he had gone to Everton and had a new accountant. Trust me, I was totally shocked by that news, it really was hard to believe, and made little sense given their wages.

I remember Ward being sent off for a clattering tackle on an opposing player at Upton Park. He was obviously making up for being found too small and weak as a youngster at Everton.
