@PattyB when I had a nice stock cover with a gel pad on my original ak stock it wasn't bad think I might have to switch it back
I bought my first Palmetto State Armory GF3 Ak-47 Moekov a couple of years ago. Absolutely love it. Not one issue. I put a Red Dot and flashlight on it
How many rounds do you have through it? My gf5 started having issues around 1200

@@tylerhenderson4244 excessive wear where the barrel mates to the action, and the action rails, metal flakes in the action post 500 rounds (belom brass cased ammo) atrocious groups 3-5 round 4 inch groups. Shot with iron, attero mount, and a master mount.
@@austinhall5933 That’s definitely not an issue you should be having - especially with the GF5. PSA has a lifetime warranty on all of their products so I would definitely send that sh*t back to them asap.

@@DAN007thefoxx1 I’ve owned a zastava. They’re great. The galil is a totally different animal. Lots argue it’s the greatest ak ever made. I usually consider it a stand alone platform

My first AK I went with a Zastava M70, they sell ones with upgraded furniture right out of the factory. They come with a Zhukov stock, quad or mlok rails and a Magpul grip. Pretty decent for the price

I’m an AK guy all the way. Don’t get me wrong I’ve got Ar’s tricked out and even stock and love them. However, my AK just keeps running. Gloves in long fires are a definite. I’ll have to give it a try.

I love my heavily modified MAK90 incl. Mastermount optics mounting system (holds zero like a champ) , JMAC stock adapter/MFT Battlelink Minimalist Stock , Primary Arms 3x Raptor, VG6 Epsilon muzzle break, extended charging handle, and a few other cool mods. There's something very endearing about an AK kaboom!

You really dont need to drop this kinds of money for a quality AK. Zastava's M70 is a good starter AK, and if you really want you can drop a few extra hundred on the Alpha AK rail getup. Also PSA's aren't as bad as people say, although I don't like the handguards of the cheapest option. They look way too magpulish to me.
I have a zastava myself in 308. Amazing rifle. Hard to find accessories in Europe though

My first gun was a AK and it will always have a special place in my heart. Like you I like to tweak it and add new parts and capabilities. That alpha series folding stock looks to be much inspired by the Zenitco side folding stock that is sadly un-obtanium nowadays. Zenitco makes top quality stuff and I have alot of their hardware. Actually most of these Midwest Industries items look to be inspired by Zenitco B33 handguards and top cover attachment.
Two very capable platforms you really gotta think of field of operations sometimes we use them just so we wouldn't sound different from others .... And for ease of scavenging ammo
All right. I ain't going to lie though when I bought My AK pattern rifle. I specifically picked the archangel stock that had the cheek riser like the scar. Very comfortable stock great gun
Im ngl, I do like Zenitco just because it’s authentic to Russia, but Midwest Industries imo did a really good job with this by making these mods pair really nicely with the AK platform. I seen Admins video on this as well and just over all, makes the AK look very cool and modular.
Always good to have a quality AK pattern rifle in the lineup!
I have to say I love both the AK and the AR. Both have their strengths and their weaknesses. My first rifle was an AR but my AK wasn’t far behind.
My impulse is to say “nyet, rifle is fine” but I also recognize everyone is free to do what they like. I feel like the ultimak gives you everything you’d need for rail space but I can understand some desire for other options.
I’d be more tempted by MI’s abbreviated optic mount that doesn’t replace the full dust cover personally if I was going to upgrade off the ultimak
The Ultimak mounts to the barrel. So as the barrel gets hot. As it will during rapid firing the optic gets hot.
Make sure you optics can take the extra heat
I’ve been running the ME hand guard on a ZPAP for a couple years and love it, but it definitely does still heat up pretty quick! 🔥
ZPAP M70? If so is it at least cooler than the stock furniture?
@@Kinetically616TTV it’s the Z92 pistol, so it seems to get even hotter with the short barrel, but it does seem to vent and cool better than the stock wood furniture. I usually have to put a glove on (support hand) after two or three mags.

Looks nice. I think everyone should make their rifle their way. It's their's after all. Myself I like the AK's without all the extras. Just personal preference.
My extras typically include a red dot for the AK, ACOG for the AR, weapon lights and a front handle/bipods. That's all I need.
I'm the same way with my HK SP5. Just like the classic look.
Even the die-hard AR fanboys will admit the aesthetic of a classic AK is a vibe of it's own. An AK with dark wood furniture, cheese-grater heat shield and side mounted optic is peak drip.
Not really… they either look outdated and shitty. Or they look ridiculously heavy like the one in then video. All that work to give it AR functionality at double/triple the price.

I have the galil ace gen 2 in 7.62×39 it's a beast that I would trust my life to. It's actually the only rifle I own that I think if I was killed would go on fighting by itself to revenge my death 💀

Want a wood Romanian dong or vertical foregrip. An underbarrel light and a cobra sight is all I would want to pimp my AK.

This is exactly the video I have been looking for! I’m the same when it comes to the AK; want more than stock wood furniture but not a fan of AR parts adapters. I’m glad you did the review on the Midwest Ind furniture and not so much on the rifle. My biggest question was the upper receiver cover and how securely it mounted. Literally seen using little metal wedges to make the thing stop moving around to ensure a solid zero. Thanks again for this. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to fill out my change of address card to the dog house when I tell the better half what I just ordered.
AKs are good tools. Unfortunately I am invested in the AR ecosystem and cant justify dropping $$ into anew platform or complicating ammo logistics any more. I do think Midwest has a winner here and will spread the word

I had a AK a few years ago and generally I liked it, but it needed to go so things could move on.. I do miss it a little though. That said, I can't shake the sage advice my uncle who spent a few years in Vietnam told me, "You either learned real quick that small trees weren't cover against the AK.. or you didn't."

I pretty much never have to wait long to click thumbs up. Always quality videos and arguments from Mr. Noir.
Problem is the length pull is fixed most times, and the reload is more involved but that's just me, and as fir attachments is a a bit harder to trust the dust cover mounted optic
I was wondering about that myself. I asked a gun-tuber about Dust Cover mounting for a scope, and he advised against it because the optic could (would) shift after firing for a while.
The length of pull is adjustable what do you mean. thats the entire point of the stock.

One of my first rifles that I owned as a young SF operator was an AK-47, standard wooden stock. I liked it. This Midwest Industries Alpha Series looks promising and outright beautiful. However, I am an AR-15 / M-4 fan for life. I will, however, give this Alpha Series a try soon...Accuracy beyond 150 meters, without scopes, nothing better than the AR-15 / M-4:-) Excellent video btw.
Nice to see these options available by Midwest Industries; however, they're charging close to Zenitco pricing unless you get a good price. Better off with either Strike industries (when you can find it in stock), or Magpul for the money (less in cost) with plenty of development options in the works.
The other alternative is KPYK parts made in Ukraine for almost Zenitco pricing. More options to work with as well.
Or get a real gun (ar15)
Zenitco has skyrocketed in price. You are lucky if you get a full set under $2000 these days.
@@ratagris21 You can't find KPYK amid the Russo-Ukraine War. I think they may have shifted to production specifically for the military and are not selling items commercially.

I've been on the receiving end of this weapon and could not wait to buy one. I've had mine for about 40 years now.
Midwest Industries knocked it out the ball park with this product line. Wish I had an AK to dress up lol... One day (and will def setup similarly).

I've only owned AR's, with occasional 9mm carbine/almost AR's HK, Scorpion and even the new Ruger. My friends own AK's and I've plinked with 'em, but never really wanted to own one. You sir, have changed my mind. I'll do a little more research, decide on a platform, and do what we do best... Change everything.

I've never had a problem getting accessories on my AK. Even my Saigas, well except the long barrel one, finding a good foregrip for that has been a real pain. But I already have the MI older generation foregrip and it's always been my favorite. I really have my eyes on the folding stock. Mine needs an upgrade. And honestly you don't need a bunch of bs you aren't actually going to use. An optic, light or laser, and some sort of vert or horizontal grip is all I've ever needed and I can technically live without all three on my rifle. I always did back in the day at least.

I have the full ATI furniture kit and bang for the buck I can't find anything better. Absolutely in love with it. I do eventually want some of these MW industries parts but that's a back burner purchase for a 2nd model.
ATI kit is kind of lame. I recommend upgrading to something that won't melt under heavy fire or break when you drop it.

I love AK’s but there is a time and place for a AR style platform when they are combined they can be sexy or atrocious. I really like that set up, I’ve never ran a LPVO on a AK but it definitely works and is on my list of things to get familiar with. Every job requires a different tool and I love both AK and AR style rifles for different scenarios.

Okay, I will play along… I recently purchased my second Delta Team Tactical AR carbine complete upper and the same thing happened as the first one I purchased
from them, I ran a brush and several patches, installed the upper went to the range, I ran a 20 round mag through it, second mag it turned into a single shot rifle after the first round. This time I didn’t cry but only shook my head knowing the gas tube popped out of the gas block just like the first. Not sending it back but to my favorite gun shop where they will tell me the wrong gas block was installed and will sell me a new one and install it…
AR15 rifles are only as good as the money you are willing to pay for (Ruger 556 crappy furniture and proprietary barrel nut) so yes I believe big heavy piston driven rifles are the only ones I can depend on (AK,Ace) 😮
