You can tell Coach K has really touched a lot of lives when JJ talks about having life changing conversations with him and K can barely even remember it. It was life changing for JJ and just another day in the life of Coach K.
I know this is going to sound too dramatic, but hearing an NBA player talking about having wanted to quit at some point is inspiring. Why would a human being think of quitting anything, unless they were striving for greatness ? They wouldn't, they'd just carry on being ordinary. No thoughts of quitting. This is a story of self-betterment.
Hey JJ, you were the reason I fell in love with basketball man. I was a huge fan when you were at Duke and then became big fans of your Orlando and Clippers teams. Hearing all these stories as an adult vs a young kid is very eye opening and inspirational. thank you for sharing these stories.
I have a lot of respect for JJ Reddick! 1st He was hated on a weird level for no reason!! 2) He persevered! 3) He averaged Damn dear 30 at Duke! 4) He could really play ! Shout out to JJ Reddick!
If Tommy doesn't learn how to correctly wear a hat I am going to have to only do the audio version of this podcast because every time I watch a video it is on incorrectly in a different way.
This one goes deep! Quick question, do you think these “bridges” Coach K talks about can be identified preemptively, or only through looking in retrospect?
I took at the opposite. He's handing down real life advice. He's thinking about his own life looking back and remembering everything that got him to where he is. As I progress through my personal career I notice I am starting to do the same thing. Looking back at how dumb I was in my career and seeing how much I've progressed and wondering how much more I can progress. I hate Duke but that's real words of wisdom from this guy.
He's in his 70s. Plus he's coached hundreds of guys and had hundreds of similar experiences. Also, this is just kind of the way he talks. He tends to speak more in the abstract and use a lot of metaphors.
@@jasonbabilonia3037 i am just stating facts as observed. Has nothing to with giving anyone a break. Not negative not positive. I didnt say he looks dumb answering that question that way. In fact it is like one asking his school teacher somerhing about the time he got time out 20 years ago.
This is cool that jj has his own podcast or what ever... im not a pelicans fan but you were obviously the best player on those floors each game and you know it jj

After 40 years and thousands of players, this man cant be expected to remember every conversation. But Coach K handled that pretty well Lol
Except JJ was national player of the world. He probably remembered

@Clutch7 I think it’s during for sure, as I’m going through that right now so this interview was exactly what I needed
Lol I knew coach K wouldn’t remember as soon as he asked
The way coach K answered JJ's question seemed like he really cant remember what really happened. He made generic statements.
40 yrs of coaching give the man a break lol.
