- // Hey guys! I decided to share how you can write an appeal letter in hopes of getting approved to get readmitted into your school, or program.
I am in nursing school and one year ago I got dismissed due to personal circumstances that impacted my grades. I knew I wanted to go back and try harder...so I appealed and got APPROVED! I will not let this second chance go to waste. I hope this helps!!!

hi carolina! just wanted to come back and thank you for this format to write my appeal in because i believe it greatly contributed to my appeal successfully being approved! guys truly just be honest. it's exactly what i did and the appeal committee are real people with feelings and compassion that more likely than not will understand your life circumstances. with honesty and demonstrating how you will do better with a second chance they give you they most likely will grant you another opportunity. good luck to anyone who is going through this and things will get better, just keep positive.

And i wrote it for poor mental health and because i felt like i didn't reach out to my profs or classmates as much when i needed help. Although my acedemic advisor told me the second reason is not a good reson to support ur appeal it still got accepted probably because of mental health reason it's accepted.

I was sent an academic dismisaal on this 27 of december and i found your video regarding how and what to include in appeal letter. I submitted my appeal letter as you said in your video and i got acceepted by appeal commetiee on tuesday today. Im glad I could help. Good luck to your granddaughter. Yeah it is financially hard to go to school. I get financial aid, but my school is a private and I had to pull out a lot of loans to put myself through school. One way or another.

*UPDATES:*
It took me so long for update, so here it is: I appealed to the Academic committee to get reinstated back for Spring 2021, but i got REJECTED. It results in me off Spring and Summer terms to take time for myself. Currently, I am taking classes at Community College, for fall 2021 semester.
** Good news for me: I can return back to My university and return back to My major study for Winter 2022 **
Since I got some Incompletes grades from several terms back which I got one year to finisb then. I worked hard to get 4.0 GPA for all them, so it raised my University GPA from Academic suspension to Good Academic status without have to do any Petition. Therefore, I will be returned on Winter 2022.
Why not fall 2021? Because I submitted my Incomplete grades late, so the system to calculate GPA already closed from previous semester, so I need to wait until Fall 2021 ends, and my GPA will he calculated, However, my instructors already grade 4.0 on my canvas.
_don't give up on your university journey if you want to return. If you need to take time off, please do so since it helps me to clear my mind and think about my decision on whether university is a fit place for me. The answer was YES and i have the opportunity to return, so yeah. ALSO, rejecting from your reinstatement petition is not the end of everything_

I’m so thankful I found this video since it stressful to think that your doing so much work and you get that email about it and when I saw it and that they give me a chance to appeal my dismissal I want to take my chance for it and don’t want to disappoint my family since I’m a first generation college student and it a lot of pressure on me but I really hopefully can get this second change to continue school and get better grades

Literally went from a A- > C+ in one hour bc the grade book closed an hour before midnight (not the first time my school’s- not just one class- done it), but now I’ve been dropped from the said school and now I have to write my Appeal.

I recently failed my last semester but it wasn’t due to mitigating circumstances. It was honestly pure distraction. How should I explain this?
I am sorry to hear. Perhaps you can explain what caused the distraction. If it was staying at home and doing school through online cuz of the pandemic (covid) then you can say that being at home was distracting for you since being at home has many distractors. You can say also explain ways you can avoid those distractions like studying at the kitchen table and not the bed for example. I don't know if you have a public library near you that is open now but you can explain you can start looking to study in places that may be opening up, but that is your choice since covid is still around. Not sure exactly what your situation was but I hope those examples helped if it applies.

what documents may you might need for this appeal letter ?
Only if it is required from you. Your school would tell you that you need to submit a proof of situation via a document as well as an appeal letter. You can use any document that proves what you might have been going through like a doctors notes/letter, medical record showing a hospital visit, proof of moving to a new place, financial hardship (if loss of job) you can have previous job write a letter, etc.

Its an online session, and am doing a response essay for my final draft, which is marked today and I got a Zero% and her reasoning is she doesn't believe I wrote my work, I try to message her and show her I did the work and I was your old student from last year but she doesn't listen and just say Do a grade appeal 3x the same reply...
Is it fair for a doctor to say that and give a zero with no proof that I cheated
am wasting time trying to solve a problem that shouldn't be in the first place......
I think it isn't fair because it doesn't make it true just because they think that. If you out hard work into writing the essay you should fight for it. Ask her to explain why she/he thinks that.

Introduce yourself by name and what school and term you are in. Thank for the opportunity to appeal. Briefly state your situation. (Example: I was dismissed from this term and class) Mention you are going to explain what lead up to that in the rest of the letter.

It depends. If you go on word and use the APA style format it automatically does it when it push enter to go down. It should be in double space format though. Hope that helps.

Go to community college and then transfer to another 4-year university. You have an opportunity to build a brand new reputation at your new school. I would rather do that instead.

I honestly know how you feel, my family do not have any money and are not qualified to cosign me for any student loan. I feel worried and I really want to continue school. I feel like my life will be over andy family would be so disappointed in me, especially since I am the first one to go to college. They don't even know about my low GPA or that I am being forced to withdraw. I submitted my appeal 2 days ago and I am really hoping they accept it. If I have to withdraw from my program, my parents will be so so SO angry. I don't even want to be alive when they find out. I'm currently working and selling some of my belongings so that in case my appeal gets denied I can pay my parents back the tuition & tell them what happened and hopefully that way they would be less mad. What about a appeal to grad school?
How do you know who is the potential reader is ?
Well if you are trying to appeal a dismissal then an appeals committee would be the reader. If it is different for you then just change it. If someone is appealing for financial aid then you address it to financial aid. Thats a question you should ask an advisor or counselor. Just in case you can also put "to whom it may concern"...if not told who to address it too.
How does the re-entry process work after an approved appeal?
typically depends when you get the answer. I assume it should be before the next term starts. I got my response early August and I had the option to start in late August for the new term, however, I was going to deliver my son in mid September and I chose to take that term off and start for the following in late October. Depends on school too.

No, I had to retake the classes I failed and then continue with the rest of the program from there.

I did. At first I didn’t think I had a reason or documents to show but then the more I thought I did. It depends class by case. Think about what proof you can show depending on ur case. Y’all to your counselors and see what’s acceptable to show.

I would say no more than 2 pages. You want to keep it straight the point. Of course explain details but don't repeat.

I am so sorry you are going through this. Its super hard and stressful! I suggest to start writing now so you can brainstorm and make changes later on as you reread it. Emotions will be high right now and as your emotions change you will read it differently and may want to change a few things or say it in a different way. I started as soon as I found out I would was dismissed. I did not wait. I came up with the way I wanted to say it and wrote it. I reread it and thought of new ways to rephrase certain things.

Just a little update they didn’t let me write an appeal they just send me the letter of dismissal and all I could do is start again in another school because I can’t even re-apply to the same school which is sucks.

Hello, what are good (actually very bad) reasons the school might accept your appeal?? Can someone sick in your family be one? Like a parent? then you had to take the role of them when they’re sick cause you have younger siblings Or like no academic support from your advisor cause they ignored you all semester. Or a bad financial situation? Can any of these work?
Yes, I would think those are great reasons to appeal. Those are major life stressors that can distract you or cause you to not focus enough in school. My school required proof such as a doctors note, etc. I’m not sure if your school requires proof but try to appeal and describe your situation.

@@salvadorarevalos3682 Well, the school dean is there to help you. They may want to know what was and is going on. They may discuss what they can or will do depending on your situation. When the dean spoke to me he was letting me know I was getting dismissed which I had already heard from my advisor. If you do get dismissed they may discuss what you can do. However, I am unsure about your specific situation. Good luck!

I already turned in my appeal letter less than a week. This may be the reason they want to talk to me about. I heard they will actually sent me the desicion in paper. I hope I hear something good. Is this only for nursing majors or can this be used for anyone ?
The same style can be used for financial aid appeals and academic probations. I have used this style with those experiences too while in community college.

I just failed my final exam and I’m thinking that I might be dismissed, too as I’m already on probation. Mostly the reason is because of my chronic procrastination and also I also have a part time job. I still never find anyone with an appeal saying that reason and got successfully reinstated, mostly it’s all family situation and all. I honestly don’t know what to do now. I feel like a complete failure.

@@fatimaarshad6658 I actually decided to not appeal but to move to a different school with a different program. How was your case?
@Carl Charles No I actually did not appeal at all but change to a different program instead. I found that the program wasn't for me, at least not right now. It took me a lot of courage to come to that decision. I wasted a year but at least I learned a lot from those bad experiences. Hopefully everyone else is doing fine. Best of luck to yall

@@oneonly4252 Yes!! I followed exactly what her format looked like. It took me a month of revision and I wrote 4 drafts in total; but the work finally paid off.
