China has already built a 4G HTGR and it's operating on their grid. They also have a Thorium MSR prototype with the goal of commercial operation before 2030. They have plans to prototype remaining four 4thG reactor types and finally they are pouring tons of resources for the ultimate: nuclear fusion reactors. If they are successful in the later - the game is over!
I wouldn't necessarily say they'd declare game over for us, but rather game on! It's a good thing when other nations prove feasibility of nuclear reactors, other companies in the west will follow suit :D Plus, it'd mean less pollution coming out of china, win win!
