So nice to hear that this house will remain intact.
I live within walking distance of this house. I am happy to see that it will be used as a wedding venue. Excellent use for the house and grounds.
The grand hall has to be my favorite. It's so elegant with all the gold details. The wall color just makes them pop. It's not too busy either.
Hands-down one of the most beautiful private residences to survive into the modern day. One could easily be fooled into thinking that this home is on the shores of Lake Como; it has such a faithful representation, particularly in its interiors, to Italian ornament and design of the era, but with that unmistakably American amplitude and expansiveness.
I’ve seen pictures of this house for years, it’s on of my favorites. It’s one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. I love the detailed craftsmanship.
Very reminiscent of the mansions in Newport RI. We toured The Elms, Marble House & The Breakers. They were all breathtaking. The Breakers at almost 25,000 sq feet was referred to as their summer cottage. Even if I had the money, I could not live like that. Just give me a wonderful old, Greene and Greene designed house.
Nuns definitely know how to clean. Their hard work has kept so many important places shining like a new penny. Thank you to them and thank you for your part as well for keeping history alive!
A Trumbauer 'tour d'force' but on a far more livable scale than Linwood Hall. It's grand without being grandiose, (if that makes any sense?) and the rooms shown from the period seem to indicate it was furnished comfortably. The period photo of the dining room showed a more intimate arrangement than I would normally see in a gilded age palace.
Thanks for this one, Ken. Very interesting and also very nice to see a house like this still generally intact!
You're putting content out faster than I can keep up!
This is truly grand. It is a shame that an individual couldn’t have purchased it to make it again a home.
That white elephant was never a home. It will be far better served as a boarding school or the headquarters of some vast internatational association. When touring some of these mind blowing gorgeous old hulks all I can think of is what happens if God forbid if I lost my glasses? Lol.
I would also like to have a large home like this, fully furnished, but this amount of maintainable space is why most of Horace Trumbauers private residences no longer exist. He just designed the most elaborate, huge properties. I am sure most of this is from the clients ego. Notice that the big business clients usually die within ten years of completion. Then what?
Wow ,so nice to see it maintained well to its original form,my favourite part is it's winding spiral staircase, and entrance grill works ,great work @this house ,waiting for the next video ,all the very best from your sincere subscriber
Good to know it will be used and people can explore the grand home
i worked on those mansions on those streets and let me tell you nothing built today compares to the size and beauty, the carpentry in them are absolutely spectacular and there probably isn't a stone mason alive that can duplicate
Ken I sure do love your channel.
Truly incredible Cam
It's so nice to see that this beautiful & opulent mansion stands today & will be used as a wedding venue!!! Thanks for sharing yet another interesting video!!! 👍🙂👍
The grand staircase is spectacular ♥️
I want a house with gargoyles! Love the side entrance. Glad it's saved. Upkeep must be a fortune.
Glad it's been preserved.
Beautiful house. Thank you for sharing.
So loved the History of this beautiful home, and glad it goes on to survive

Would love to see this beautiful home some day!
That house is well worth a visit. I like the tile roof and rugged construction.
Thank you for the information about this wonderful house. I liked the courtyard the best. You are doing an excellent job highlighting historic houses around the nation. Thank you for what you do.
stunning architectural and interior details! Nice to see it open as a museum, but really a wedding venue is ok too, to keep it going!
Loved that entry space's grand staircase!
The bracketed cornice is my favourite feature, currently.
I'm glad it won't be demolished soon. It was built to last a very long time.
Two more places of interest Kohl Mansion, Burlingame CA and Brownstone San Francisco. Queen Anne Victorian and rooms used in the Yellowstone show, Ft Worth TX, Ball-Eddleman-Mc Farland-House. Carved sandstone exterior and copper roofs.
Trumbauer was the architect I would have hired to build my house. That being said, it's a shame that we really do not know how much is Trumbauer and how much was actually designed (other than much of the Duke campus) by Julian Abele with Trumbauer getting the credit as all the company's files were destroyed at Trumbauer's death. Excellent video of an amazing house.
Trumbauer's mansions are usually near copies of European originals, so full credit really belongs to others.
@@bscottb8 Good point, and the same applies to R.M. Hunt; McKim, Mead & White; Carriere & Hastings; et al. Pretty much every architect until Frank Lloyd Wright.
@@LJB103 Lets not forget about Henry Hobson Richardson! He was quite original!
@@crazynamehere6701 Yes and no. Even he based a lot of his work on Romanesque precedents.
@@LJB103 and FLW with his enormous ego, his work isn’t in the same league as these other great architects
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful home. I'm glad it will be used as a wedding venue for more people to experience its beauty
Love it so much thanks
Stunning
The arched entrance gates frame the home beautifully. ~
Hey Ken !!Love the videos a lot!!This is truly a beautiful mansion. It’s Visually striking to look at. It’s nice to see that some of these beautiful homes are saved and given the love and TLC they need and deserve . Thank you for the showcases of these beautiful homes. ❤️👌
Beautiful 🥰
Love the facade
Must admit this is one of my favorites
Love the railing for the grand stair case, any idea if it is wrought iron? or if it is cast?
WHAT!?!?! Weddings?!?! It's not a museum!?! Do they at least give tours?
I’d love to see the Busch Estate
Do most of these mansions you show have hidden rooms? Just curious.
It's interesting how many of these nice home fall out of private ownership.
No individual wants to own these Gilded Age mansions in this day and age. The maintenance costs and property taxes are too prohibitive for anyone besides the likes of Bill Gates or Jeff Bezos.
Nice place to get married!
All they need is “front desk” for this “ hotel”
Just a TAD over the top for my liking... I like ornate things and houses.. but, that one is just a bit too much for me...
Is blackout just for me?
3:59 What “organization” had the gall to not pay rent to Sisters?! 😡 The nerve!
Scoundrels are never a thing of the past.
NOOOOO, NOT A WEDDING VENUE!!!! ANYTHING BUT THAT. drunken, misbehaving guests will damage the place beyond repair. WEDDING guests are the worst!
Had to give a thumbs down for making me watch full ads, clicked off before the ads were done...NO video on YT is worth sitting through full ads.
Elkins sounds like just another inheritor who didn’t build anything people are sick of all this fake history 🤦🏽♀️
This is architectural history.
The fake history is yours.
Simply UNBELIEVABLE!!!
