At my campsite, some Winters the deer are so hungry they gnaw on my pressure-treated fence posts. All their natural predators have been hunted to extinction, so if the hunters don't do a good enough job killing them humanely, they die horrible deaths of starvation thru the Winter and damage everything that looks edible to them.
That deer has no concept of the value of life. Vincent, Im not a hunter. Never have been, never will be. You anti hunting people call it murder, its a bit far and you need to relax. Please find some other cause to fight for which might actually have a positive impact on the world. Your time will be much better spent.
Vincent, but it's a no win, kill the females & the animal rights people get upset about the babies that might be left behind. At least that's how it is with kangaroos & why it's a male only policy for meat for human consumption. I'm guessing deer would be similar, but maybe not due to breeding seasons? I'm not sure. They still get more upset by female kills than male ones though
Absolutely ridiculous behavior on the part of the protesters. I will agree that having had the chance to experience slaughtering lamb by hand, with my father in law, changed my view on meat. This was a tradition in my wife’s family every year, my father in laws would kill lamb for the Easter (Greek) holiday. As a professional chef I thought it would not have any affect on me. It did. But it did not make me think about becoming vegan, rather it gave me a better respect for meat itself and taught me that I need to be more mindful of utilizing every bit of the animal I could for food and feeding people.
I can respect that take. Though I've stop eating meat due to simliar events happening to me when I was younger I still would respect those who use get the meat properly, like getting it from a trusted butcher instead of getting in from the supermarket. That kind of stuff. That being said, I wouldn't be happy to go to a restaurant that serves deer. It just feels wrong to me, perhaps that a cultural thing too.

Sbeast you do realize that most meat is not "processed meat", right? Thats only fast food stuff like burgers, hot dogs, and pre-packaged/frozen meats. Steak is basically fresh high quality meat taken right off the animal and served, there is no good reason to process or refine it. Its not going to give you cancer if it was sourced responsibly using sustainable farming practices. Believe it or not there is a massive difference in quality/nutrition between buying a pack of Oscar Meyer balogna thats been sitting on the shelf for 6 weeks or going to the butcher to get meat that was cut directly from the animal the same-day you bought it
Sbeast . Processed meat dumb vegan. Same with any processed food meat or not. FYI you're terrible at making jokes. Don't worry I never met a vegan with a sense of humor anyways
I agree. Lets do it. Start a counter group and stop these Nazi assholes from telling us what we can and cannot eat. And from harassing businesses and threatening the livelihood of others.
they ought to show vegans how deer and other animals actually die in the wild, how about it takes a fall and cant walk, so sits for days dying, or a pack of wolves spend hours running it for miles and when it's too exhausted to run away anymore, they rip it to pieces and start to eat it while it's still alive, how about when there is no food it wanders around starving to death or riddled with sickness and infection taking days or even months to finally die in horrible pain and suffering, on our worst days as human beings the way we kill animals is far more humane than how other animals kill animals or even how nature kills animals.
I like to tell them about the footage I remember watching on the news as a child of baby kangaroos dying of starvation - or rather starving to the point that they can't move & then flies entering their orifices & laying eggs & watching their skin literally crawl as the maggots get bigger & bigger & eat them alive from the inside out & then ask them if they REALLY want to opt out of the humans role in the Australian eco-system as keystone species & sole apex predator & stop culling a small number of big old males, knowing that will be the result. I've literally had 1 tell me to "leave the kangaroos alone so they can evolve" wtf?????? and a few say "it's natural, they're not suffering" again wtf? but otherwise they do generally seem to realise there's an issue there. The wolves they seem to just say that humans are smarter & so we don't have to lower ourselves to their level & that the deer are only starving because of cows eating their grass, but when you present them with an eco-system where humans have been the only predator for over 30,000 years & a key predator for 80,000+ years, that seems to stump them a little. Especially when told that 1/3rd of the population (18 million) died like that in 2002 due to animal rights people pushing for pre-drought culls to stop crazy how ignorant of the real world some of them are actually & more than that, how determined they are not to learn about the real world
You do realize that for the most part, herbivores (the prey) have much better stamina, whereas carnivores (the hunters) tend to have better speed, so a several hours long chase is the most unrealistic thing ever. For the great majority chaser hunters, if they don't catch their prey in 10 minutes they just give up, get some rest, and off to the next one
messed up Previous recommendation lmao thats why only recently were not prey and theres still people getting killed by animals in some parts of the world

My dad gutted deer in front of me when I was a little kid. Once you accept the circle of nature/life there is nothing to hide from
My daughter started witnessing the field dressing at 3...participating at 5. She got her 1st (and only) deer at 13, with a crossbow. I had her gut it and drag it out on her own.
When it came time to butcher, I took one side, to show her how to do the other. We grilled up some bacon wrapped backstrap..."It tastes as good as it always does, but somehow it's so much better!"...That's what happens when you provide for yourself....from the forest to the table and all points in between!
How's the therapy going?
@Duglet Side note...
The property she got her deer on, was owned by USMC Vet, who fought on Iwo, Okinawa and later in Korea. After she got the deer, he came out, congratulated her, and presented her with his Marksman Medal, that he had held onto for nearly 70 years. *HE* was a great man.

Anyone wanna talk about deer overpopulation? Its not an endangered species people. Take a pill, it doesnt affect you.

Fresh meat, butchered at the store, sounds like good advertising to me!
This is actually incredible take on it and I would have to agree- after some of the work I have done i have a profound respect for meat as well
Some serial killers agree, you need to really respect these corpses of both human meat as well as animal meat.

Believe it or not there is a massive difference in quality/nutrition between buying a pack of Oscar Meyer balogna thats been sitting on the shelf for 6 weeks or going to the butcher to get meat that was cut directly from the animal the same-day you bought it

they ought to show vegans how deer and other animals actually die in the wild, how about it takes a fall and cant walk, so sits for days dying, or a pack of wolves spend hours running it for miles and when it's too exhausted to run away anymore, they rip it to pieces and start to eat it while it's still alive, how about when there is no food it wanders around starving to death or riddled with sickness and infection taking days or even months to finally die in horrible pain and suffering, on our worst days as human beings the way we kill animals is far more humane than how other animals kill animals or even how nature kills animals.
Especially when told that 1/3rd of the population (18 million) died like that in 2002 due to animal rights people pushing for pre-drought culls to stop
crazy how ignorant of the real world some of them are actually & more than that, how determined they are not to learn about the real world
Lilac Lizard I hear kangaroo meat taste good. Never had it and wouldn't mind trying it.
