The direct drive is instead more inefficient in the long run as the weight of the clothes is likely to damage the ball bearings of the motor. The washing machine shop also advised against it even though it was costlier that it's not good in the long run and risks damaging the whole drum instead of just the belt.

There’s a reason why they didn’t choose to implement direct drive in their new washers and he’s correct.
Panasonic is one of the very few brands that actually give a damn about durability, all other brands jumped straight into the direct drive trend simply because of marketing purposes.
Huli man sila sa features or design, I’d still choose them over fancy features ng Samsung, LG or any other brand na idadaan ka sa design, etc. pero hindi naman kasing tibay ng Panasonic.
We’ve owned all three brands, our LG washer may knocking sound na agad three years palang, Samsung binenta na namin kasi multiple repairs nagkaka error code na wala pang 4 years.
Kakapalinis ko lang ng Panasonic namin na 10kg washer from 2012 and it still works like new. Hindi man siya inverter ayoko pang palitan dahil napakaganda parin ng takbo and alam kong matibay.
Sa mga forums na sinalihan ko and groups while I was looking for someone to clean our Panasonic washer (lumot ja kasi and moulds na nag mamantsa sa damit) most of the problematic brands I saw were LG, Samsung, Mabe, GE, Whirlpool, etc.
Mabe, GE, Whirlpool are all made by Midea now. I’m not surprised.
Direct drive nga sunog naman agad motor or yung inverter board mismo, most of the time ang Panasonic owners like me belt replacement lang hanap or cleaning dahil dekada nang ginagamit.

Yes... it's still so very fine as of this day...
so firstly, some directly drive motors have fully sealed enclosure, which mean the worst-case scenario I damaging the bearing, not corrupting the motor. yet, the wet environment could damage the belt machine's motor as if it is not a fully sealed motor ( it will become really bad, I have seen such motors ).
secondly, you said that in the long run the bearing of the motor will be damaged due to the shock created by the weight/ improper balancing of the clothing, which would have been otherwise absorbed by the belt, which is true but I am doubting it. the fact is that your washing machine is not likely to last 10 years as the part that is gonna damaged first is not the motor, it is the part that connects the drum with the motor and is exposed to the detergent and water inside. it is more likely for that metal part to fail before either the drum or motor.
thirdly, you said that the instability of the electricity supply could cause fluctuations to the operation which would have then caused the previous thing I have mentioned, and I would like to specifically point out that you are wrong on this one. Firstly, if that is the case, it would be the exact opposite. the direct drive motor incorporates an IGBT controller which contains a capacitor that can maintain the machine's operation for 100ms even if the power is out, a fluctuation that is powerful enough to damage your motor is more likely to damage the controller first. Secondly, washing machine washcloths by constantly changing the direction of the rotation from clockwise to counter-clockwise or the other way around ( more top-loading machines that have the drum installed vertically does this ). No instability in current flow can create stronger stress on the bearing and the motor than that.
lastly, I would also like to point out that if your argument is about the inverter operation is very acceptable which is true, yet you do not understand how these motors operate before you make this video. moreover, I don't see how different could the Panasonic and Lg one behave electronically since I am pretty sure they both have inverters inside. Hence Whirlpool provides a LIFETIME warranty for their top-load and front-load washers that uses direct-drive motors ( "ZEN technologies" ).
I am not trying to make a point that direct-drive must be better or the other way around ( even though I am a huge supporter of direct drive technologies as they have had implemented basically everywhere) until I tried myself and found out that direct-drive washing machine is miles away better, I cannot make a conclusion on that. I have ordered an LG Direct drive Washing machine, and hopefully, it will prove my assumption which is that direct drive is superior in silence when compared to belt drive, but otherwise, they are pretty much the same without much differences in performance. ( yet I do think the extra belt will become a problem in the long run as the belt looses after a long time of use and is very common for motors. But honestly, I don't think any washing machine can last long enough for that to happen, )

Nyek. Belt drive palaging nasisira as per my experience. Una is belt, pangalawa yung board. Kaya direct drive binili na sumunod. Lets see kung sino mas superior.

Most high tier washers actually uses a Direct Drive motor instead of a belt drive motor. Brands like Maytag from the US and Whirlpool uses a Direct Drive (with their own branding of course) system. I don't think its any hate towards LG naman he just discussed the advantages of the belt drive function ng panasonic particularly the one in use, (which is easier amd cheaper repair, cause all you have to do is replace the belt pag nasira) kasi if i'm not mistaken may belt drives models din nmn si LG, their larger capacity ones are direct drive and which is, as you've mentioned is typical of higher end models. He did not even mention that direct drives are more expensive to repair and not a lot of technicians are equipped to fix direct drives if they're not from the service center mismo,he could have stated that but he didn't, he focused on the panasonic unit instead so i don't think he's anti LG namn. He just stated that minor inconvenience lng yung sound and negligible or tolerable naman siya with the advantages that comes with it.

@@cristianaustria1882 I'm based on my experience lang po sa dd motor pero goods naman si lg not bad naman ako matagal na kami naka Panasonic almost 5 or 6 year's na tapos nag try kami ng lg na naka dd motor is okay naman malakas umikot and less noise but not adviseble na I over load siya because pwde masira yung dd motor ni lg pero para sakin si Panasonic is good kasi subok ko nayan brand na yan. Based on my experience lang po ✌✌

This video reeks of confirmation bias - yung sinesearch mo lang na information ay yung sumusuporta sa beliefs mo. Dati bilib na bilib ako sa Econavi, i bought panasonic appliances for my condo (aircon, ref, washing machine) sirain at mahina ang compressor. Hindi din maganda ang aftersales nila. Sensitive daw ang electronic parts. Last year, I moved to my new place. I switched to LG. Bukod sa wifi ready dahil sa Smart ThinQ, napakalaki ng savings sa kuryente (From 4800/mo ngayon 3100/mo nalang). 10 years warranty sa compressor palang pero 2 years ang warranty sa parts and services, palit brand new pag nasira. Last month nagpa cleaning ako, walang chinarge dahil covered pa daw ng warranty kahit 1+ year na.
Check niyo rin yung ease of use. Nasa likod ang control panel ng halos lahat ng washing machines. Si LG lang yung nasa harap. Madali basahin para sa mga malabo ang mata at within reach kahit hindi katangkaran. Pwede mo din siya i-monitor via app, ia-alert ka niya once tapos na or may problema (eg. walang water supply). Fan ako ng panasonic dati dahil top of the line, akala ko more expensive means better quality + bigger savings.
Panasonic is still a good brand. But I must say LG's is now gaining headway in the market.

What the f*ck are u saying against direct drive? Your just highlighting it because you use the panasonic who uses belt and pulley. Belt and pulley consume more energy because they use other mechanism unlike direct drive only the motor itselt uses the energy. Kapag tumagal ang belt and pulley lumuluwag.And about sa weight na sinasabi mo kaya nga tayo may maximum capacity meaning kapag sumobra ka sa capacity ng washing mag aalarm ang LG direct drive motor ewan ko lang sa panasonic parang wala at hindi naman mag lalagay ang LG ng technology na direct drive kung hindi dumaan sa maraming test sa tingin mo hindi nila naisip na ung weight na labahin mapupunta sa motor?
