    Good video Andy. I’ve also noticed for myself that once I started to eat more whole fruit, my cravings for processed sweets went away. It likely part of the reason why people who ate more whole fruit tend to have better body compositions (on average)

    You're awesome for explaining this for people. Meat and fruit have been the staples of my diet for the past 2 years, a few veggies and some coffee. Simple and I don't have to track anything.

    I love your videos. As an athlete, your perspective is very helpful for me. However, sometimes I think you put a bit to much emphasis on presuming that most people are depleting their liver storage daily and living an active lifestyle. However, perhaps it is reasonable to assume that 50+% of the people listening to nutrition lectures live active lifestyles and eat reasonably.... Either way, great work as always. Thanks for being such a great teacher.

    The problem is not with fruits. But, people consume lots and lots of sugar throughout the day and also alcohol. After that if they have extra fruits like bananas, mangoes and pineapples than its a problem.

    somehow people think that just eating sugar is going to cause you to gain all this extra weight. from a standpoint of weight, it's burned the same. from a health standpoint, too much of it can cause irritability and issues down the line. It's low calories. because some people for whatever reason have sounded some alarm that fruits contain some fructose and how fructose has been known to be in fruits people stay away from it. complete garbage. it's in such small amounts and the amount of fructose that someone would have to eat to have any effect is astounding. and fruit already as you said in the video is low in calories and it's satiating. people are blowing them reminds for no reason.

    Let's say you ate 80 Grams of fructose day.... There would still only be fat storage if in surplus right? Even if you are over your liver storage in fructose.

    • @buugleboy17
      @buugleboy17 4 роки тому +1

      Yes exactly, your body can’t be easily tricked into storing fat long term like some believe. Your body is constantly storing and liberating energy sources throughout the day. Even though if you exceed the liver’s capacity it may store it as fat short term, it will simply have to liberate some of that if you are net in a calorie deficit. This is shown time and time again with energy balance studies

    Thank you Sir for all of the video content! I find the physiology of fat loss pretty interesting. Have you ever thought of doing a video on how; hormones, SNS and PNS, or the intake of carbs during or around workouts effect fat loss? I’ve been listening to a lot of Christian Thibaudaue and was wondering your take.
    Thanks again

    This information is relevant for those who have not already put themselves into an insulin resistant state. The lean "for now" 20 somethings who are taking pre workouts/post workout carb/protein concoctions will not benefit by adding more whole fruits on top. In that scenario, you bet the added fructose is having a harmful effect, pushing them further into insulin resistance. If you haven't' been going down this road, or will be REPLACING the sports supplements, juices, and added sugar with whole fruits, then yes, this will be healthier.

  • @mattconverse6485
    @mattconverse6485 3 роки тому +4

    I think this often gets conflated as "fruit makes you fat" when the more accurate statement is "fructose is stored as fat". I agree with what you said in the video, but it was overly simplified at the same time. Yes, one banana or a half cup of blueberries is not going to make you fat, but it will contribute to a store of fructose as body fat. If you are doing that every day, and likely to much higher volumes, it could be a factor in stored body fat. You have to take in consideration the full daily consumption of fructose, and the compounding volume of weeks/months of that eating. Then it gets much worse if you are consuming things like HFCS.

    Hello, thanks for great, valuable, and real information. I really apreciate people like you take some time to explain all that stuff. Can you help us understand how much fruit at day would be considered healthy. And ok, I understand that 50 g of sugar is ok for the liver, but, wich percent of the total carbs in a healthy diet, should come from sugar, either added or natural (including lactose and fructose). Thank you very much.

    Thank you, Andy. One of the claims I have heard in the past is that it spikes your "blood sugar" - is this true?

    • @southbridgefarm8795
      @southbridgefarm8795 Рік тому +1

      Ive heard this too and literally have had heated discussions about this with “professionals”(athletes, nutritionists etc) So just to settle the argument i would eat a bowl of fresh fruit salad. Then test blood sugar one hour, and also two hours afterwards. Nothing! Blood sugars were always perfect. I did this repeatedly to show that i was fine. The one thing i make sure is that when i eat fresh fruit, its only fruit and not mixed with any other kind of food.
      Now i would love to see what the results are for someone who is borderline diabetic or actual diabetic. But also to note that what works for one person can be totally different for someone else. So best way to know is to test blood sugar on oneself to know for sure.

    Love the info you provide.
    Question, since most people are obese and thus most probably have a fatty liver, won't consuming fructose just add more fat to the fatty liver; because liver is the only organ that hands fructose.

    Nice video
    If someone eats more than one fruit a day it means this person has high activity level which alloy to eat larger volume
    when I'm active I would consume 400g fruit (without counting lemon tomato and avocado)
    when I'm less active I would consume less Plus by force if I eat fruit as much as high activity I could not eat
    it is impossible for me to convince myself that is fruit may make gain weight !!

      Not only because of amount farctuse of fruit also, fruit has fibers
      fibers keep the balance of insulin level
      so the body system overall will be safe
      we need(good source) of sugar for our brain health too

    I think the only thing he's missing regarding the liver and fructose.... is that not everyone has a healthy liver. Most people already have some type of metabolism disorder in which you need to not make things harder on the liver. For someone at a healthy weight and with no metabolism problems, he's correct.

    Well fruit might not make you fat - just like kissing a girl doesn't make you a father... but just like there are a couple of steps that raise the desire to try the next - of which kissing is the first - eating bananas etc is an excellent way to end up sitting on the couch with a couple of snickers bars and a cake. (Meaning the fruit might not make you fat but the ensuing bloodsugar roller coaster makes it hard to stop after half a banana!)

  • @Santa-ny1yp

    So let's discuss where you are wrong. You are assuming people on eat 1-2 servings a day. The rda for fruit is 5 servings and if your someone like a vegan, many eat 10 or more. That right there is up to or over your livers capacity. Don't even get me started on fruitarians. If you spread it out through the day it gets a bit mitigated. Over eating fructose is the primary cause of non-alcoholic fatty liver, because that's the only place it can be processed. Furthermore fructose tells your hormones that it is get ready for hibernation time, so it slows down all metabolic function for that purpose. Fructose is also the largest cause of gout. The short of it is IF you eat 4 fruits a day, at least 2 hours a part, you should be fine. If you are an over eater of fruit or drinker of fruit juice you should be more cautious. There are many blood markers to show you how you are doing. I eat fruit, I just keep quantities small, where it can be beneficial. Also there are higher and lower glycemic versions of fruit. Variety helps get more strains of gut bacteria.

    Loosing weight is always been about calories in and out. All fruits are good for you because they tend to be low calorie dense food for a snack. Bananas are quite high in calories for fruit but you won't be eating many of them a day. 200+ calories for fruit per day as long as your inba deficit is a very way off eating off meals, instead of snacking on high calorie dense processed food.
