I don't know how you guys keep your composure during moments like this. You got lost, you went on a random bus, the locals point you to a random taxi, you don't speak the language. That's so scary but at the same time, so so awesomeee
If you were Vietnamese you that pho is a common food that is pretty cheap in USD but in VND 50,000 is like 5 or less in USD and a like lottttt of people in Vietnam eat it like a LOTTT. I love it a lot my grandparents and uncle has a house there and I come their like once a year because for 3 people plus one because my aunt comes.
hungerofthepine I cannot believe I’ve missed that. I knew their intros were missing something! I found them during their 80th ish country and I’ve started rewatching.
I must comment on the loveliness and adorableness of that child in purple watching Kara eat @11:38. The look on her face is so sweet! What a cutie!! I am so excited to see you guys in Vietnam. I previously worked with a woman who was originally from Vietnam, and she once brought me a gray mother of pearl seashell bracelet back from her travels. I've always wanted to see more of the country she was from. I have always been in awe of how hard she worked so hard to make a life for herself and her family here in the States.
I am loving watching these in quarantine!!! I went to Hanoi after college and stayed right near where you did at the Lavender Hotel Hanoi- it was one of the nicest hotels I have ever been to, the best staff, free laundry (done for you!), escort to a custom tailor where I had a dress made, AND free breakfast- it came out to $26US a night! I have spent more on hostels in Europe! First thing I did was go around the corner to the ATM to withdraw my first time being a millionaire! I loved it there so much, I'm glad you did too!
So I moved to China 3 years ago to start teaching English because I was inspired by you guys to start traveling. Next week I’m moving to Hanoi for the same reason, and watching all of these vlogs again has me so excited 😁😁
aww you got scammed by the taxi driver . We Vietnamese DO NOT charge person in the taxi , you just have to pay what's on the taximeter . So sorry about that
I have to say, Kara, you're fearless nature in gastronomy is inspiring! You rock. I'm not eating crickets or chicken feet. Yup. Nope. Never. :) love the blog. Travel safe!!
It's so wholesome and full circle watching this when it first came out at age 15 dreaming of going to other countries and now 7 years later rewatching the vlogs in south-east asia after i've travelled to all the same places. I love it
We don't purchase the taxi money base on the number of people in the taxi in Vietnam ! :(( that taxi driver is a liar :(( i feel shame as a Vietnamese. I apology :((
To be fair, taxis are basically a rip-off everywhere in the world, and the cheapest taxi ride I ever got in the US is still more than the most expensive taxi ride I've been on in any other country. Basic rule of thumb for any taxi anywhere: if it doesn't have a meter, don't get in.
If ever in Ecuador, never get into a taxi without establishing the cost first. Otherwise, always call for a pickup from a taxi company. Taxi companies are the only legit taxis, they also NEVER drive around looking for fairs.
That is msg you cute couple are putting into your pho. I don't recommend putting in cause when they cook the broth they had put some in already. Just started become your fan and really love all the videos I had watched so far. Wish one day my husband and I can travel like you two. Keep up the amazing job!!!
Always be vigilant with taxi drivers anywhere. I have seen taxi drivers ripping off newcomers and even to locals. Just show them straight face. Don't always be too nice to locals, just because you are tourists.
+Jessie Wu I think it's a mixture of table salts, sugar, and seasoning powder, not just MSG because MSG is not that cheap to fill in a bottle like that for free.
Yeah buddy!! :0) glad you guys were upgraded that must've been an amazing sleep....ugh almost 4am here now...I'm going to have to sleep sometime...LOL...one more vlog...maybe 2...then sleep...LOL.. :0) I know I've said it before but im so grateful for these vlogs...BIG HUGS FROM IDAHO ♡
LOVE LOVE LOVE ALL your vlogs. I get so excited when I'm notified you have a new video Hehee. I just got back from Vietnam (Saigon, Phu Quoc Island and Nha Trang) a few weeks ago (my first visit there). Amazing country and the food is outstanding. You must have some Banh Mi AND Mantis shrimp (HUGE). Also, Vinasun and the green taxi's are all metered and won't be shady. Thank you for sharing your journey Kara and Nate. You both are absolutely lovely souls. Safe travels to you.
I just HAVE to say this...... I LOVE YOU GUYS! Ya know how people watch Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime etc.....? Well that's me.....until I happened to be on UA-cam one day and came across your visit to Cerro Gordo and now I don't watch Hulu, Netflix etc.... I watch you guys! I appreciate the hard work you put into each vlog and love learning about the new places you visit!
I really apologize to you about the taxi driver 😢😢 As a Vietnamese I feel really sorry to you about how some of the people keep lying about the price to other people from different countries. I’m so sorry 😐
I always love when Nate tries to be serious when talking about the situation, but then 5 to 10 seconds later he's cracking up laughing and smiling. And Kara, her cuteness is just so funny but so infectious Also did I forget to mention Kara makes Crazy cute
Been watching the videos non-stop. Lol, I love every single of it!!! Btw, Kara, be careful with your items esp your engagement ring. Aren't you guys afraid your precious items will get snatch? Can you give us tips on how you secure those items including your wallet? Do you have two wallets, one for credit cards and important items that is being kept in the inner part of your bag and a second wallet that you use daily? And not to be worried if someone will steal it from behind or, that you can give it in case someone will hold you up in the middle of nowhere or taxi drivers with a gun?
And they say that there isn't any good people in this world. That is just awesome they helped you to your hotel. I wouldn't have complained about the five dollars. Here in the US you would be charged a lot more.
YAY, you're heading to Vietnam. I would suggest you two to stop by Nha Trang City (my hometown) which is northeast of Ho Chi Minh city. I'd love to see a Vlog from your perspective. You two are just so adorable and actually my favorite travel Vlogers I've seen so far on UA-cam. I wish I could do something like what you guys are doing one day soon. I'm just so happy for you two. Peace out! -William
My fiance and I have been obsessed with your videos since we discovered them. We are planning a trip to Vietnam in January and wanted to know if you had recommendations or tips for getting visa/approval letter?
Hope to see more blogs of Hanoi. I loved it when I visited last December. BTW, I also had bank card problems at Hanoi Airport - the ATM ate my bank card! It took 4 days for the bank to Fedex me a new card!
I was wondering as well what happened, FYI..here in Canada the McDonalds have great FREE wifi and awesome Coffee (Kara), maybe New Zealand has the same? Hope your having a great time. Cheers Graeme.
Your taxi ride would have been a lot more here in America. I would count your blessings lol. Two bowls of pho for only 4 bucks wow. Here it cost about 21 or something like that. But pho is so delicious.
Ok guys that was great as always. You can get a new card I hope. I will say, as an ex airline pilot, one of these times you will miss a flight if you keep cutting it so close. Having said that, I guess you would just go back to the lounges. Maybe that's what you both secretly hope..........😎
Lot my ATM card in Vancouver years ago....had to wait in my hostel for 3 days for money to be wired across the Atlantic. Another time, I lost it in Tokyo, had to fly to Melbourne the next day, where I opened up a bank A/C, and luckily a good friend wired money into that A/C......one of the worst feelings in the world....your stomach tied in knots. Since then, learned to spread around money between cards, Currency.
Gr8 vids guys - can't wait for the Everest thing - thank's for sharing your adventures and always smiling through adversity - such a nice couple - and pretty.....:-).....can't believe how late you always are and how much stuff get's lost at the worst possible moment - but that's what I call entertainment.......::-)
When you think how cheap everything is over there, makes you wonder how in the world anyone from Vietnam or any asian country ever comes to the US. That $5 taxi ride would have been $40 or $50 here. And those $1 coffees would be $3 or more here.
First the boarding pass thenn the magic card. Certenly a day of suprises. Even tho everything looked gloom you had a party sort of. How is that even possible?
I know!!! And yes, we got another card to work after a few tries, and a friend is bringing us another "magic card" in a couple weeks :) - next vlog! :)
Can you please tell me what is the brand of your bag packs? The ones that were stacking up in front of your hotel at the beginning. I really like them!!!!
I don't know how you guys keep your composure during moments like this. You got lost, you went on a random bus, the locals point you to a random taxi, you don't speak the language. That's so scary but at the same time, so so awesomeee
OMG the little girl to your side when you were eating pho... ADORABLE! Glad you two made it safely to Vietnam, can't wait for more vlogs!!
+ohitsROME her parents were sitting right beside her so I felt weird videoing her, but I tried to sneak her into the side of frame!
ohitsROME I thought the same thing! What a doll!
I came to the comments just to comment on her. What a cutie!
Whaaa? Is this the first appearance of the KN logo in a coffee cup??
hungerofthepine I cannot believe I’ve missed that. I knew their intros were missing something! I found them during their 80th ish country and I’ve started rewatching.
hungerofthepine yes
I believe so!
I was wondering when it was going to start. Remembering Vlog #73. Now, I'm looking to see when they start adding the vlog number to their vlogs.
that's what I thought too! As I was watching, I was looking out for the coffee logo lol
I must comment on the loveliness and adorableness of that child in purple watching Kara eat @11:38. The look on her face is so sweet! What a cutie!!

+zhubox03 no need to be sorry :) just part of travel sometimes!
aww please don't be sorry.I am American as well. There are bad people and wonderful people in every country. You seem like the "wonderful" kind.
@@lisalynn1 I am sure he saw his opertunity when he was driving 2 foreigners to a nice hilton hotel.
I feel like I'm watching The Amazing Race and cheering for you guys
I have to say, Kara, you're fearless nature in gastronomy is inspiring! You rock. I'm not eating crickets or chicken feet. Yup. Nope. Never. :) love the blog. Travel safe!!

Your blogs are my favorite thing! You guys always put a smile on my face :)
+Chris McNeill Thanks for making us smile!!! :)
It's so wholesome and full circle watching this when it first came out at age 15 dreaming of going to other countries and now 7 years later rewatching the vlogs in south-east asia after i've travelled to all the same places. I love it
oh my gosh the little intro 😆👏🏼❤️ y’all have come so far!!

You should be a shamed! you should get on your knees!@!!
@@flameout12345 You should for that corny reply!

Never by person!! Use Grab for transportation if available!

I'm so sorry you got ripped off by the taxi drivers Kara&Nate. Need to be vigilant with them, especially in Hanoi :(
FINALLY MADE IT TO THE FIRST KN LOGO
Best bit Karas revolving door malfunction! 😀
+Mark Evans hahaha Nate made fun of me the rest of the week!
It sped up! LOLOL
Started binge watching your vlogs again (had a little break) and loving your adventures more and more 🤗😊
I am so proud of my self I have watched tons of these amazing videos in 3 weeks and I usually never get time but they are just so good
It always stresses me out when you almost miss the plane 😂😂
You don't want to be taking illegal taxi in Vietnam. Go for Vinasun or other legal taxi. Legal taxi are the more common taxi you can spot.
+bknghiem good to know! It should have been a sign when there were about 5 guys trying to get us to get into the taxi haha
+bknghiem I think its better to tell the taxi driver to use meter
Always be vigilant with taxi drivers anywhere. I have seen taxi drivers ripping off newcomers and even to locals. Just show them straight face. Don't always be too nice to locals, just because you are tourists.
YAY NEW VLOG! So addicted to yall! Keep it Up!
+USSO PANDA thanks for the kind words :)
You guys made me miss this Pho shop so much, this is one of my favourite Pho shop for my whole childhood...It is in Nguyen Huu Huan street.
taxi man lie u :D
in vietnam we not charge per person in a taxi =))
Kara saying thank you in Vietnamese was the cutest thing ever
Rewatching during the quarantine!! 😅💚💛💙💜
i think that mystery salt is MSG
+Jessie Wu I agree, it's MSG and probably made it very tasty.
+Jessie Wu I think it's a mixture of table salts, sugar, and seasoning powder, not just MSG because MSG is not that cheap to fill in a bottle like that for free.
+Romer G. 100% it was MSG!
That mystery salt is called " bột canh " in Hanoi. You can put some of it in to your bowl of Pho if to your taste. Bột canh has salt, MSG,sugar,..
Lol

Omg you were so calm for losing your cash card. I'd be freaking out.
I went to Vietnam only 3 moths ago stayed there for a whole year it was so fun but very challenging. thank you

I’m so jealous. I love Pho I could eat it every day!!
Haha! That's airport transfer tho? Crazy airport ey? Looking forward for more vlog!
You can actually get great massages on the bottom floor of the Bangkok Airport. Great way to spend a layover as well.
Great intro guys!!! Giving that old +MrBenBrown vibe!!
+Roberto Byaban we'll definitely take that as a compliment!!
Nice! Can't wait to get to Vietnam on our trip as well!
+Elizabeth Travels you'll love it! AND if you're going to be up north you'll really enjoy the break from the heat!
Yeah, it's getting hot in here!
Your vlogs are very well made and internering. When in Vietnam you should try Banh Mi sandwiches.
just had to come back and re-watch some old stuff
Hope to see more blogs of Hanoi. I loved it when I visited last December. BTW, I also had bank card problems at Hanoi Airport - the ATM ate my bank card! It took 4 days for the bank to Fedex me a new card!
+IScreamer thankfully we found an ATM that would give us money yesterday haha. Otherwise I have no clue what we would have done!
And its not the case that you get charge per person in Vietnam
I wish I had your positivity in everything

I recommend you to go to Sai Gon, the people there are really friendly and honest , the taste of the pho are different too

+Paramoore Jorack I know, it's the greatest!!!
The first coffee cup logo!
you guys are cute. enjoy Vietnam! I would love to go back one day.
That one lady with the glasses looked at you like you are the reason we are running late.
3:21 you can see the pass flutter out of your backpack kara!!!!
I love your videos guys. Sorry for all the messages. Subscribed!!
Hey Kara and Nate, I love your videos. Thank you.
Did you guys do a visa on arrival in Vietnam? If so, do you mind sharing the agent you used?
My home country!! I LOVE pho!
When you think how cheap everything is over there, makes you wonder how in the world anyone from Vietnam or any asian country ever comes to the US. That $5 taxi ride would have been $40 or $50 here. And those $1 coffees would be $3 or more here.
11:57 it’s probably msg cuz I’ve heard that it’s very common in Asia as a seasoning
First the boarding pass thenn the magic card. Certenly a day of suprises. Even tho everything looked gloom you had a party sort of. How is that even possible?
Wait did they find that card?? I need more information!!
Many of those rotating doors will speed up if you approach them too quickly.
Nate - dont make your lady chase you.. your so considerate except at the airport LOL
hey nice video keep up the good work.
Try Ta Hien St in the old quarter at night heaps of locals and backpackers mingling and eating along side the road.
For sure! Thanks for the tip!
So did you guys find the magic card you use to get money?
thank god you guys made it to the hotel.. any luck on the "magic card"?
I know!!! And yes, we got another card to work after a few tries, and a friend is bringing us another "magic card" in a couple weeks :) - next vlog! :)
+Kara and Nate yeyyy 😊
oh, the room is sooo niceee...
The guy talking in the intro so sounds like General Sam (A Escape from tarkov content creator)!
We went from Hanoi to the airport in an uber for 2 people, was only $7 total
hi guys! may i ask how was it flying with Vietjetair?
And the power stuff is MSG :)
how do u guys get VIP lounges everytime?
What happened to ur atm card? The entire video I had anxiety as if it were mine. Yikes
Haha for some reason the ATMs in Thailand give you your cash before you can remove your card so it's really easy to forget it in the machine...
Can you please tell me what is the brand of your bag packs? The ones that were stacking up in front of your hotel at the beginning. I really like them!!!!
+xman ### osprey meridian 22 :)
Watching this during Covid is making me anxious...
WHOSE voice was that at the very beginning who said, "What of life was made up by...?"
