It's hard to balance games, but the biggest issue with big, corporate cross-platform games is that they run on patch schedules that can keep the game in unbalanced states for long times simply because the devs need to wait for a date where they can push changes live AND need to deal with the pressure of those patches being balanced enough to keep the game as healthy as possible until the next date. I think it's a huge, but not sole, contributor to Blizzard often outright killing things with nerfs. They can't patch 3 times a week like an indie game on Steam could because stats and text are both hardcoded into the client (core design flaw making Hearthstone inflexible for patching) and due to the uniform crossplatform and highly controlled patch cycle.
You: sleeping on Toki
Me: sleeping with Toki
We are not the same
The how to fix game discussion reminded me of how a major priority on Ben Brode's Marvel Snap was making it so you could make more frequent balance changes
I like the hotfix guy pipes up and Bofur is like "erm actually"
Love the streams. Should've gone for leapers though...
Hey Bofur just wanted to know your thoughts on not keeping a murloc for odd comp so you can play primal fin? Is there just not a good enough odd murloc to keep around to make it worth it? Thanks in advance :)
@ 01:40 I'm pretty sure deep blue crooner wasn't in the game during the last buddy meta.
It was
Deep blue crooner have been around for a year now
But azshara being the buggy hero that she is, she rarely see the light of day
@@3takoyakis No, I'm pretty sure she wasn't, buddies were added in march 2023, and removed in may, when the new season started and that's when deep blue was added.
@@inorganicphosphate9755 mb, bad memory
But buddies were available in some form in quest and anomaly
Heck ETC even have azshara buddy
I always play with it
What exactly are the default comps on the hero’s you mentioned? Is there a video that explains? :)
Jeef has a video on the main comps rn for the heroes he mentioned.
This is a youtube comment
No it isn’t
This is a touyube moccent
This is a reply to said UA-cam comment.
No, this is Patrick
I feel like they have so much to look at when balacing the game that whatever they do something will be broken and a lot of stuff will be unplayable, I mean look at that mfer ragnaros, that old ass hero power basically means no hero power
Why isn't Alex hero power change a nerf, though? It used to be free, now you have to pay for it, right? Only upside is getting one extra dragon, since you can use the hero power the turn you go to four, or perhaps trying to roll before using so that you can see what the tavern offers to you? I've been barely playing lately, so please be gentle with me
It isnt a nerf ofc
The only part of the nerf is old alex could discover ANY dragon from any rarity (including 6star). So you could level to 5 then gamble for 2 6star dragon and thats it
Not that it matters since kalecgos is now weak as hell
And dragon could online by staying in tier 4-5 and playing perma combat stat dragon
Problem is not fun over balance. they will nerf what is fun instead of buffing bad hero’s. the fact is some heroes are in unplayable but they don’t buf them. Only reason they have trash hero’s is for us to buy season pas to have chance to get descent hero. everything Activision touched becomes pay to win trash. It is shame what happened to iconic company like blizzard
Broke combo's are great for the game, they need to change them EVENTUALLY, but if they immediately patch every broken combo out of the game it will very rapidly become boring and they would lose a great amount of their user engagement because then it will just be the same old thing, there's a reason there are some BG youtuber's I don't watch anymore, they push APM builds EVERY. SINGLE. GAME. That shit's boring as fuck.
The former part is literally what's happening with the standard part of the game. It wasnt that everything was combo oriented, but blizzard really took the approach of "slightly busted and complained about? Here, have the nerf hammer" until you get into a meta with only one class having a really good deck, and the other classes just cannot compete. Really unfun balance approach.
To me APM lines in bgs are more fun simply because it has a lot of input during turns usually, and not just "find x piece(s), let game do its thing, gg", but admittedly, since apm lines easily get tons of money, I do see the repetition complaint
@@Siike_ I don't mind APM builds, what I do mind, is that there's so many fun comps to run right now, and some BGtubers basically see a recycling wraith or a rock rock or a tethys and blow their load immediately and then play the exact same build they have played the last 6 videos.
Granted, yes, at this point there's not much deviation, most builds have already been figured out, most buddy interactions are already known, most busted things have either been nerfed or have had counter's discovered, but I don't want to watch the same fucking video with a different timestamp.
@@Valtruin that's fair. I could see the argument in a world where streamers do play multiple hours per day so they may be should have games which deviate from the common apm stuff, but there is plenty of those builds rn and so many of them are super powerful to where perhaps you cant argue on it too much.
I'm sure theres an audience which enjoys it every time, but I do get the frustration or almost "saturated" content of apm
