A few issues: 1. COST - Ebikes are very expensive. You can get a brand new 125cc motorbike for around £2.5k on the road. Much more engineering and technology than the very simple frame, motor and battery you get in an ebike for £3k - £10k! 2. WEIGHT - Lifting 25kg over styles and gates? My standard at half the weight can be a struggle. 3. BATTERY LIFE - Anything beyond eco could run the battery down fast if the trail was difficult. Bigger capacity? Best part £1000! 4. NOISE - Not sure how quiet but the nice thing about bikes is the near silence. 5. NICKABILITY - Insurance quotes for ebikes around £200 - £250! 6. Assistance tops out at 15mph. So in my opinion a long way to go in affordability, weight, range before I would consider
Decathalon stilus 2699 Volspeed3 I hear can be good for off-road use on private land with permission. Don’t save your money waiting for the future, it’s here.
Assistance or throttle UK is 15.5mph. Also you don't need to carry it over anything, since anything public that blocks disabled access, gets reported gets removed. As far as range is concerned. Some ebikes offer pedal assist to 100 miles, eco mode. Throttle only depending on battery at 15.5 mph can get you to 20 miles and over with some ebikes. Yes cost is steep but flattening hills is fun.
As a new subby,im slowly going through your vids, this one,i cannot thank you enough, ive been on the fence for an e bike for ages now,im 53,but very fit for my age,i do all the bike parks, but do a lot of long rides on trails too,so i think I’ll save the giant reign for the bike parks, but get an e bike for longer rides, now which one to choose! 👍👍👍👍
hi where abouts in rochdale are these trails ?? thanks wish i carried on saving for a ebike rather than getting a expensive camera haha but love using the camera thou
I could be wrong but the dam climb-looked like Watergrove up Wardle, I would also appreciate knowing exactly where these routes are Tommy? If you going to film a downhill route both sides of Rooley Moor are best round here.....either into Edenfield or back down to Lanehead Stunning!!!

done the dragons back a few months ago on my levo. it says 3-5 hrs on that trail and i done it in 2 in trail mode. middle node. grin factor 10...........
Obviously not as easy as an analogue bike but far from impossible either. Most e-mtbs are in the 20-25KG range so if you can lift that up to your waist/shoulders then you're ok.
Mind blowing these things Tommy, get yourself on a high level Kenevo and it'll blow your mind lad. I've ridden Spesh, Trek, ORange, Cube and Haibikes amongst others and they're all great, some are monster trucks and some are a bit more nimble, the 2020 Kenevo is somehting else though.
Loads of fun right!!! So glad you enjoyed it or should I say were awesome enough to admit you enjoyed it. So sick of all the normal I'd buy one for the missus. We love our ebikes they are the greatest purchase we've ever made, once you're use to them there is virtually no negatives and the amazing amount of positives soooo overwhelm them. They can do anything a normal bike can do and they make the up hill something to look forward too not just a necessity to get to the fun bit. I think it says it all when you were hooting and hollering and giggling like a nutter going up something too steep to walk up. Glad you had fun. Big thumbs up from VELOFIENDS
Hey Tommy, met you on that bike over the back of Dovestones last weekend at one of the styles / gates! Nice chattin to you. Also, where are the trails from 12mins onwards, don't recognise them and they look pretty darn fun...
How good was that?! I Got my Specialized Levo last August and it is a complete game changer. Depending what I'm riding and where determines if I use the Ebike or regular.
Really got to say, those emtbs keep my heart rate on those long steep climbs perfectly between 120-140 (yeah I have bad condition, did pure muscle building for years). On my nukeproof reactor the heart rate keeps bouncing up and down uphill between 140 and 170 for 2 hours and I feel extremely exhausted after the tour. I guess for newbies who want to get along with their trained friends and have a good endurance training those bikes are awesome.
Mate, if you like ebikes take a look at the 2020 commencal meta power. Right up your street I reckon. I got one and its the best thing I've ever owned. Its a beast on the descents
I have an e bike and they are awesome, you can go so much further and faster down the best runs. You will last loads longer and they are great for people who are getting old
Did your ebike have a button where if u had to walk uphill you pushed button which worked the motor? I demoed one at inners and was amazed with that feature. Also extra weight makes it handle better on the gnar. Great vid tc
Been disappointed With my Scott mtb tbh. Granted it’s a genius 960 but still a chunk of money and now sent off for warranty god knows when I get it back 😭
e bikes are better fun de restricted 👍 could never go back to riding a one with a limit on it, checked out a bike on youtube called a frey, it is a bike i would go for next if i was after another e bike.
Yeah, the added power getting put on to the chain and cassette will wear those down quicker. It's also easy to forget how much torque is still on the chain when you change gears and then you hear it slap into the next gear and think "Oops". Some mechanical sympathy for your bike would help it last a bit longer lol.
@@phal44 my mate is meticulous about cleaning his chain etc. and he gets 500 miles on average out of a chain (possibly cassette also?) and changes on measured wear. I'm the opposite, don't clean and lube infrequently and ride chain & cassette until they start slipping or break before I change. That gets me 750 to 1000 miles or a new chain & cassette every other month so at list that works out to over £100/month on the drivetrain for me and more if I factor in the occasional chainring. @@ftgoggi4715 yeah, my emtb is still pretty new so wondering how long before I replace stuff. Done about 250-300 miles so far. Weight saving isn't as important so if the top of the range stuff doesn't add any life to it then you might as well save your cash for the replacement tyres and brake pads that you'll also need lol

Ebikes are ace , especially for shutting tracks and exploring.
Was it chipped or is that how they come looks fast
Probably not chipped, Bosch has integrated some barriers, because it's illegal, so it would be very unlikely to get a chipped one from a bike store :)
