- The Untouchable was an all girl band from Princeton, New Jersey, from 1965-1969. This is one of three recordings that they did in the 60's.

Dodie Pettit- lead guitar
Molly York- bass (65-67)
Sheri Oman- vocals, recorder
Kathy Pettit- drums
Geri Lombardo- rhythm guitar
Jeanette Huber- bass (67-69)

Founded in 1965 in Princeton, NJ. One of the first girl groups to play instruments & do 4-part harmony. Burning members were Molly York-bass, Dodie Pettit-lead gtr, Sheri Oman-lead vo, Dodie’s sis Kathy Pettit-drums, Geri Lombardo-rhythm gtr. After mostly free gigs, they played clubs on Princeton's Prospect Ave, wearing micro miniskirts. Gigs included the 1966 Prince Tiger Dance @ Princeton U with Jr Walker & All Stars, Sam the Sham & the Pharaohs, The Lemon Pipers, The Critters and Lester Lanin Orchestra, as well as Jerry Blavat’s TV Dance Party, The Zachery TV Show, and Ed Hurst’s Aquarama TV show. In ‘67-68, the Palace Theater, Broadway, Central Park and Bryant Park for Helena Rubinstein events; & The Electric Circus on St Marks Place, opening for such acts as The Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd & Deep Purple, and for The Beach Boys at Rider College. Summer ’67, they met Iggy Pop & Stooges in Greenwich Village, before their fame. They refused to believe them when the girls said they also had a band, so Geri & Dodie said come to NJ to hear them rehearse in the basement of Geri’s parent’s house. The band gave Iggy & Co. a mini concert & they were sufficiently convinced. In 1967, Jeanette Huber replaced Molly York on bass, just after The Untouchable got new management, Koppelman & Rubin, in NY. K & R managed The Lovin Spoonful, Barbra Streisand & The Turtles. They got producer John Boylan to record “Toll Booth” & “Sounds of Happiness/ Way to Fly” for intended single release under a new name chosen for them - “Calliope”. However, the band broke up in early '69 before that could happen.

Before this video, I'd never heard of The Untouchable...now they're in my top three fave New Jersey all-girl groups of the late 60s.... Una Untouchable, Ulla Untouchable, Ursula Untouchable and their cousin Ulrika Untouchable.

Great Psychedelic 🎵 song because it’s deep and intense. The picture of these lovely girls looks like a scene from the movie 🍿 “Billy Jack”. Where he was trying to help some of problem youths of the school he was running. Billy Jack was trying to help them find purpose in their lives. The song 🎶 describes the late 60’s and early 70’s because this is how Hippie women dressed in those days. I mentioned Billy Jack because this picture reminds of that movie of course these girls weren’t in that movie 🎥. Great song by the way of that particular time period because…It’s Far-Out!!!

There was an article about them in Ugly Things but I don't think it said anything about recordings, it just said they blew away The Stooges when they played for them in somebody's living room one night...
Oh yes, all of that is true!! there’s more information about their recordings on the Untouchable website if you’re interested! They only ever did three songs, two being covers for a demo 45’ and the other (Which is the one in the video) being an original composition!!!

Great tune,i never heard it before.beats anything taylor swift ever did.it shows you that there were so many good bands during that period they were pushed aside.the record company should have gotten them more exposure.

This is like a girl garage band! Such a thing didn't exist (afaik) until Sleater-Kinney.
There were quite a few in the 60's and WAY more before the 90's (S-K)...there's a whole series called Girls in the Garage you can find it here on youtube.
