  • Our thoughts on the Desview R72 7" Field Monitor. This is a fantastic camera field monitor with a super bright display and numerous exposure and display assist features at a budget-friendly price. Our main considerations for deciding on a field monitor are: Is the screen bright enough to use in direct sunlight? Are there useful scopes/exposure assist features that help inform camera settings? And lastly, is the image reliable/accurate so there are no surprises when it comes time to edit the footage?
We hope you find this video useful in determining which field monitor is best suited for your needs!

The R72 has worked great for me so far. The Small HD 7” alternatives are priced insanely

I just picked-up mine yesterday as well (7 hours ago or so) for $150 CAD ($120 USD) cash, brand new, via a liquidation seller on Facebook Marketplace, and I had fun playing around with it for the first boot!
I noticed that the HDR modes and LUT displays don't seem to work simultaneously; it's seemingly either one or the other.
I'm shooting Sony HLG3 in the BT2020 color space, and I've decided to stick with HDR>BT2020. Whereas, I can't seem to get my Leeming (III) Correction LUTs to display correctly with this monitor (it color shifts towards green), oh well~
Also, do you happen to know what "Pixel-to-Pixel" does? Whenever I use it, the only noticeable difference I find is that pinch-to-zoom then causes the colors to look akin to that of a less useful False Color display, but I don't think that's intended 🤔

Hey mate. Nice video clip. Just a wee question. I mainly aim for photography, and I’m after a brilliant (2500 nits or more) monitor that can zoom in both during the shooting AND when I view the images that were already taken. Does this monitor have the option to view the images?
    Cheers mate

Hey! Sorry for the delayed response. Yes, you can zoom in on both photos and videos that you’ve already taken. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

Hi, nice review. I have a question though - hope you can help me with. Just bought a Desview R7iii but the camera monitor is not replicating to the monitor - ie. Shutter speed, ISO, record indicator (red dot) etc are not visible on the Desview monitor screen though the same is visible on the camera screen. Can you please guide me on how to fix the issue? Best Regards, Dave

That's weird, if you go through your camera menu are there any settings about LCD display? A lot of cameras have those turned off by default. Hope this helps!

I bought 2 of these in 2022 and have had nothing but problems with them. The HDMI input and battery ports both have weak connections. Every little bump, I lost either power of signal connections. Won't buy Desview ever again.

We've also had a couple issues with the HDMI port not being super secure, but not with the battery ports. Overall, we're still really happy with this monitor, though I'm sure there are plenty of other options if it doesn't suit you.

    Still a lot of glare.

I think that can mostly be attributed to filming a piece of glass (monitor) through another piece of glass (lens). The monitor is very bright, and I haven’t had issues with glare in my usage. However, if it was still too hard to see you could easily attach a hood.
