Is Anthony Black the Best Guard Prospect in CBB? | First Look
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 сер 2024
- After a slow start, Anthony Black has been one of the best players in college basketball, especially at the Maui Invitational. His ability to pass and defend at a high level was always there but the downhill aggression and shooting has made him a confident lottery guy, early in this season. A potential point guard or connector in the best ways.

Anthony Black First Look Scouting Report
#NBA #NBADraft #AnthonyBlack
As a lifelong Arkansas, I love what we have right now. Anthony Black reminds me of a combo between Dyson Daniels and Lonzo Ball. He moves more like a guard than Dyson and pushes it out on the break like Lonzo. The defense has been amazing and I love how he has stepped up big during Nick Smith Jr's absence.
I’m was honestly so surprised when he wasn’t getting the same hype that Nick was coming into the season. Dude is a 6’6-6’7 athletic PG. He’s literally the type of PG the NBA is trending towards
He's closer to 6'8" but yes, he should have had more hype. I guess it's because he wasn't really projected to be a scoring option for us. But he has been.
Nick is from Arkansas so I think that has a lot to do with it
Nba is trending away from non shooting and scoring guards. If he can't become consistent there then hes not even a roleplayer
Bro I've been following you for just under a year now and you legit have the best draft/scouting content I've ever come across on the internet. Keep up the great work.
Defensive Prowess: Check
Passing Ability: Check
Wing Size: Check
Questionable Shooting: Check
Sam Presti: Where do I sign up?
He reminds me of a way more athletic version of Kyle Anderson a point forward that can manipulate defenses, solid primary playmaker/great secondary playmaker, switchable defender, with a questionable shot that goes down when wide open. I think he has way more upside than Slo Mo, but Black also has a really high floor. He is a great modern prospect that can be a super special player depending on where he is drafted
Toronto must be scouting this kid immensely, would fit the raptors rotation and future plans
You already they are taking Flynn and Banton spots
There needs to be a video on Ricky Council he’s been so good this year for Arkansas
He's really unique, thinking up similar players in recent years I think of Josh Giddey, Dalano Banton, and Dyson Daniels. He's just got a little bit extra in certain areas that those guys don't.
Dalano a great shoutout tbh
One of the guys i'm looking at for my Knicks if we even draft someone this coming draft
Still think we can get him? 😅
@@curtisroach9053 Not looking likely, and besides i've change my mind on wanting him anyways
Toronto Raptors would love this guy.
as a raptors fan, i would LOVE to replace freddy with this kid. hes special man. a back of black and banton sounds like a nightmare
@@levi44444 realistically that backcourt is mid af probably even below mid but I'm hoping Banton turns out into a solid rotation piece. Anthony black has a lotta potential tho hope the Raps can get him
Does he remind anyone else a bit of Lonzo? A big guard with great defensive and playmaking abilities. Obviously not an exact comp but still
His passing and defense for sure but I think the dangerous part is he could be an even more lethal scorer. Much like Cade Cunningham
Lonzo defense cade hair lamello finishing
@@itisnottaken4444 I hope he end up on the Pistons with him too
Future national champion Anthony Black
great stuff as usual
He's the JD Davison of this draft cycle
JD couldn’t shoot.
Based off hair I’m guessing? Lol
Anthony black is my top 5
Ceiling Jrue Holiday / Floor Lonzo Ball
Has all the tools to become Elite defensively & a Great playmaker. If he can develop his jumper in the league & get it to around 35% from three on solid volume, I could see him potential becoming a fringe all star. All depends on how he develops his jumper & a lil development in his ball handling.
He mite still be growing, so if he tops out at 6’8-6’9, you will have a highly skilled wing player.
Who y’all rather take amen Thompson or Anthony black? Both are big playmaking guard’s except I think amen is more athletic.
Hey keandre, who do u think is the best playmaker of this class? it seems like there's not a clear classic PG prospect like Haliburton or Cade but I might be wrong
He literally in the video, 6’7 PG
@@tommyharper126 ye but he said he looks like a part-time first option in the nba, the dudes I named are clearly first thats why im asking
Black has a really bad turnover to assist ratio
If not, he would be in top 5. His height, length, and ability seem to be their. But always he welling to play defense. If he gets those 3's down? No stopping him.
Have no clue why AB isnt consensus top 3. Yeah Amen is more athletic but AB has a working J. Personally I like him more than Scoot because he is 6'6/6'7 instead of 6'3.
I wouldn't mind if my Orlando Magic take him with there second lottery pick. He seems like good glue guy with upside.
WTF hes 6’7”-6-8”
Very similar to Dyson Daniels. Maybe not got some of the intelligence on D, but seems more polished on O (while he was in the G league). Pelicans got that Lakers pick and wouldn’t surprise me at all after getting Herb and Dyson 😂
Have u seen much Keyonte, I’d be interested in a video on him
Highest ceiling in the draft outside of Vic and the Twins
#10 projected.. to the wizards.
He reminds me of Josh Giddey
Reminds me of Dyson
SPURS PLEASE
his 3 point shot too slow and clunky. release point looks too low for a6-7 guy too
Agreed, his shoot needs a lot of work.
reminds me of zo
Hooper
Hope the Knicks get him
Nah, not the top guard prospect. You’re not a top prospect in your position unless you’re practically unguardable on an island.
That’s not what guards do. They distribute. He has shown the ability to get to the rim at ease.. but teams need a PG.. not a SG
He’s like a less athletic Cade Cunningham.
Cade is a much much better ball handler and shooter.
Don’t agree with the comparison but Black is definitely more athletic then Cade
To me he looks more athletic then Cade by a good amount. Black is more explosive. Cade had a more advanced offensive game and was a really good shooter as a fresh.
Nick Smith Jr Is better
We will see once the season really kicks into gear
They teammates nobody cares
Not even the best guard prospect on his team
no shii
Unless N.Smith jr is a bust like Whitehead or Jaden Hardy last year. Happens every year not a sure thing he is who the high school rankings say.
YES!
goes one direction, jump shot is hideous, not a bursty athlete
Didn't watch video but answer is yes
