Chain Stitched: The Work of Jerry Lee Atwood
Вставка

- Jerry Lee Atwood's western wear involves more than just fabric and pattern. Its creation features a ritual of eccentricities, one beholden to classic method and machinery-and one that's clothed country-music musicians and disciples the world wide.

I can't believe it. Back in the 70's I was employed as a chainstitch embroidery artist. I designed mostly bowling league shirts, Irish Dancing dresses, chenille award letters and tapestries. I drew the designs on paper and would perforated them to transfer the design. I miss all of that cause I was excellent.
Great video, such good work.
So true about how many crafts are digitized anymore

His work is great. But I never get why hipsters always appropriate things and then put on this overdramatic facade about how meaningful they’ve made it. Like “…it was just a bit lame until I started doing it.” They learn a old skill and then act as if they are the one who invented it, or saved it. Or they decide this trade skill defines their personality. It’s just geeking out is all. Rappers are the same, they are geeks. Rockabillies. Mods. People who obsess about motorbikes, etc, etc. It’s all the same. But hipsters always think that whatever they’re doing this month is cooler than what everyone else is into. Like when he says hipsters search for “Underground country music.” Seems like Hipsters will always be the least original people on the planet.
